I was watching that replay of the red-card in someone's signature, and sorry that looks like a dive to me.

WHAT?

No.......this was definitely not a dive.......ok maybe he wouldn't have fallen on the ground.......but this was definitely a disgusting thing by Zidane..

Look at Ti sig for a replay!! It does look like a dive to me...unfortunately, Zidane way still way out of line. I doubt a card for the dive would have affected the outcme of the match.

why Zidane, why?!?! i had so much respect for you! he was an amazing player with great sportsmanship...and then he snapped and did something insanely stupid that jeopardized the whole damn team.

i HATE it when the outcome depends on penalty kicks. :furious3:

No, it's not that!!!

Materazzi has insulted him, maybe something racist or he said "we'll stop you career" in italian.

You know, In France, more than everywhere, to said is more than an insult, it's a... "headshot" and you selfeteem make that you can be very violent. Honor is very important, very important in South of France... ( where Zizou was born ).

He stays the man that you say!

But he defends his honor, with an impulsive mistake!

replay..means slower, you can't see how strong was the headbutt...ahhh blindness still people wants to hide what's in front of them, there's nothing to forgive Zidane about, he acted like a stupid and totally deserved the red card

I can't understand what are you complaining about..I would like to see what would have been you reaction if this had happened to an England player..I call this hypocrisis

I agree he did deserve it.. but I wonder what Materazzi said to him to make him react like that. He seemed such a calm man. I never expected Zizou to do such a thing

Well it's not the first time really he acts like this

Zidane can join C. Ronaldo, Grosso and Rooney in the 2006 World Cup "hall of shame".;)

There's no excuse for that kind of behavior. It was a disgrace. I've lost all respect for Zidane, who before I thought was a good leader and example to his fellow teammates and to the fans. I guess I was wrong. I don't care if he was trying to defend his honor or some bull like that... you just don't headbutt someone like that, especially considering the magnitude of that game (not only for France but himself). There's nothing the Italian player could've said that would make Zidane result to physically harming him. He'll only be remembered for this. What a shame!

Sure Zidane snapped and deserved the red card....BUT the italian clearly imbellished that head butt. I mean these guys take 75 mile an hour soccer balls off their chests and heads with ease, but a head to the chest sends him toppling to the ground??? ahhhhh they were both acting like retards

Zidane make surely a stupid movement but i want to remember that this isn't the first time he take a such behaviour....

anyway... I'm happy... very happy...too happy... :D

when you're not expecting something like that of course you overbalance cause you're not ready to oppose the blow

Well.. I agree that it's a horrible way to end your career, but he's still one of the best football players this world has ever seen! Diego Maradona did lots of stupid things during his career as well, cheating and diving and all that shit.. But he's still remembered as a legend! And I hope that the same will happen to Zidane..

I wonder what the Italian told him.. I really wanna know! I heard that it had something to do with his family - I know that French are EXTREMELY sensitive, so I can kinda understand why he lost control.. It's not an excuse though, of course.

Not an excuse, but understandable at least - unlike blatant cheating.;)

Yeah, it's his mentality - he's usually such a calm, shy guy, but when you attack his family, he can lose control..

Yeah' date=' it's his mentality - he's usually such a calm, shy guy, but when you attack his family, he can lose control..[/quote']

And maybe defending his family was more important to him than winning the World Cup...................... ;)

Well of course, his family should be his priority, but he could have done that AFTER the game.. There was no reason for messing up the whole game and risking his team's success!

And you defend your family in that way?

I don't understand why the hell when Totti spit at Pouslen everyone was bashing him and this time everyone try to find an excuse for Zidane...of course both of them have been provoked so why you're using these two different measures to judge them? adding that it's not the first time for Zidane

Please someone tell me cause I don't understand

I can only see a lot of acromony against Italy

I don't defend Zidane at all, I think it was totally wrong what he did, no matter what he was told by the Italian!! Like I said, nothing is an excuse for headbutting someone.. The only thing I'm saying is that I feel sorry for the way he ends his career, that's all. No-one here is trying to defend him, it's just a pity that it all had to end like this.. The final, his career, everything!

Well I see many people here saying "it depends on what Materazzi told him", "I wonder what Materazzi told him"

Zidane is a Champion and I don't discuss this thing, I was amazed by his match against Brazil, and should have ended his career without this stupid gesture

I don't think it depends on what Materazzi told him, but I still wonder what he said.. It wouldn't be an excuse, but interesting to know.
