Ondes Martenot
My list is on it's way, but I'd first like to take a moment to protest (read whine REALLY LOUDLY) the omission of We Are Scientists' album. According to memory, and every source I've checked (and I've checked many), it was released on: January 10th, 2006 Even one of the links that was posted for double checking says so: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:47d4vwnea9uk In other words, NOT in 2005. I haven't seen any of the European release dates, sometimes they are different, but even if it was released there sooner, what is happening is that anyone on this side of the pond would be effectively banned from voting for it either in 2006 or 2005, because we wouldn't have heard it last year. (Was there even a list last year?) With Love and Squalor has shown up on almost every best of list I've seen this year, and I think it deserves to be on our list too. this is arguable. the original UK release date was in October 2005 and i stick to the original release date either is US or UK. i don't know which lists have you read, because i haven't really seen that album anywhere. it's not that good imo. however... Muse - Black Holes And Revelations 2. Sparta - Threes 3. Placebo - Meds 4. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not 5. Breaking Benjamin - Phobia 6. Incubus - Light Grenades 7. Space Cadet
Thank-you thank-you thank-you for the Final Fantasy- it's been on my list of things to listen to for awhile, I just haven't yet. TV on the Radio, I'll give them a listen... I can't say I've been overwhelmed by what I've heard so far, but thanks. And I already adore the Guillemots. :nice: Pity they haven't released their full album here yet. You should have seen the face the guy at the music store made when he tried to order it- he couldn't figure out how to spell the name, no matter how many times I told him. :laugh3:
Space Cadet
1. Loreena McKennitt - An Ancient Muse 2. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not 3. Thom Yorke - The Eraser 4. Guillemots - Through the Windowpane 5. Snow Patrol - Eyes Open 6. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations 7. Sam Roberts - Chemical City 8. The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers 9. In-Flight Safety - The Coast Is Clear 10. Pilate/Pilot Speed - Sell Control for Life Speed 11. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain 12. Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds 13. Kasabian - Empire 14. Keane - Under the Iron Sea 15. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Stadium Arcadium 1-4 are actually all a tie... I couldn't choose- they're all so different. There are alot more I wish I could have put on here, but I just haven't heard enough of the actual albums, unfortunatly. Beck, K-os, and Gnarls Barkley fall into that category. edit: Want to know how to really mess with your head? Having never listened to either album, listen to both Final Fantasy AND TV on the Radio in one sitting. It's like being asked to learn to speak a couple of different languages in one evening so you can write a book report on a couple of novels written in those languages. Just not enough time to really GET it. :dizzy: Don't know what to think or where to put them...give me a week or two to figure out whats going on and they may have been in the top 5 or 10. But it was FUN- I want to try it again sometime, brain cramps and all.

My sister has that album. It's a good album. She may like it a little bit more than I do, but when I'm in the right mood, I love it. They're great live too. You really ought to check out In-Flight Safety if you haven't already...
