University!

Featured Replies

Well, with the throng of 'club' threads popping outta nowhere, I wanted to make a new thread that doesn't have anything to do with clubs!

Okay so I was working on this pamphlet for computer class about colleges, and so I got this idea of a University thread. Basically post anything about the university you want to attend/currently attending/already attended. Post pictures of the colleges, facts about them. And you can talk about other things about the Uni as well. I might need help considering colleges soon! :P

This probably won't last very long....so whatever.

Anyways....

A college that I would really like to go to is Columbia University...

I know it's reaching out too far, wanting to go to an Ivy League. But I work hard, and I really hope I would be able to go there.

I would prefer to go to a private institution.

well i just got early acceptance to Ryerson and York University (:shy:) and honestly, i thought i was gonna be considered in late March/early April like normal and i just logged into my account to check my status... and apparently, i've been admitted since the beginning of Feb hehe.

I have no idea which to choose, i've got 3 programs to choose from...

R's better cause of paid internship, 100% job placement after grad, multicultural environment and the location

-but-

Y's better cause of the direct approach to my field of interest (a biggie), joint programming w/Seneca ( a college to get hands on experience) and the chance for residency and be involved in clubs, movements, activities and parties () shh, but it's known to have great parties, but that's soo not a factor..honestly :P

uhh, sorry, that was quite long ..

And this would be the University i attend

The University of Haifa is a university in Haifa, Israel.

About 16,500 undergraduate and graduate students study in the university a wide variety of topics, specializing in social sciences, humanities, law and education. The University is broadly divided into six Faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Science and Science Education, Social Welfare and Health Studies, and Education. There is also the Graduate School of Business.

Beyond the objective of a first-rate higher education, the University of Haifa aims to provide equal educational opportunities to all sectors of the society, and in particular to encourage mutual understanding and cooperation between the Jewish and Arab populations on and off campus.

The University of Haifa is home to a vibrant archeology and art museum: the Hecht museum, several very active research centers and institutions, such as the Evolution Institute, Center for the Study of the Information Society, Center for the Study of National Security, Tourism Research Center, and more. The University also hosts a large IBM research center on its campus.

I attend the university of life.

It opens more doors for you than if you spend 3 years in a building writing up your opinions in a "formal" log which is worth more than the piece of coursework it is based on.

No doubt my parents will push me to get into the University of Melbourne :dozey: Probably won't though.

I'm going to University of Ljubljana, to the faculty of arts, to study translating and interpreting.

The University of Ljubljana is an institution with a very rich tradition. With its more than 56,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students, it ranks among the biggest universities in the world scale. A total of 22 faculties, 3 academies of art and 1 university college employ approx. 3500 teaching and research staff, assisted by nearly 900 technical and administrative staff.

Now that i'm looking at all these photos you posted, i see that our uni is much poorer than yours, especially if I look at the lecture room of the University of Queensland.... Rooms in my future faculty aren't smaller, but steeper and not so luxurious... *g*

I think that none of you have heard about my uni...

but anyways it's an interesting topic to talk about.

My uni is one of the ones in my country where you can study Tourism, i know that in most european countries there isn't this kind of studies, that's why we can go to germany or ireland to study our degree... original but also a bit problematic.

we have general subjects... languages, economics, accounting, markerting, geography, history... so it allow us to study another degree later, like History, Journalism...

^ you can study tourism here, too! :) Though only in the cities which are located at the seaside... reasonable enough, i think! :D

I went to the Universty of Reading! Yes, home of the Reading festival, which I didn't attend ONCE in the 3 years I was there. Er yes...

I go to a little nice uni here in chile.. haha

^ you can study tourism here, too! :) Though only in the cities which are located at the seaside... reasonable enough, i think! :D

I didn't knew that in Slovenia you can study it, good to know. I agree with you is reasonable, but here in Spain in one of the cities where you can also study tourism is in Valladolid, this city is in the middle north of the country, not near the sea but it's very historical, it was the capital of the country. :)

Are you studying tourism?

i don't think i'll ever attend a university...

i just wouldn't have the power to keep on studying, to keep on pushing myself.

naaah.

Western Kentucky University...

I'm a News/Editorial Journalism major, and we have one of the better programs in the nation. That's why I'm here!

We also have some other good programs, such as business and music.

We're on a pretty big hill, thus we're the Hilltoppers (creative? no. unique? yes!). It can be a bitch to get to class especially when it's early and/or you're in a pinch.

yeah i want to go to melbourne university too. well either melbourne university or monash university to study medicine. its hard to get into, but i will get in, i just have to work hard and it shouldn't be too difficult.

well.. this one...

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), was founded on June 21, 1888. It has 18 Schools distributed on four campuses in Santiago and one regional campus located in southern Chile.

Approximately 20,000 students participate in its undergraduate and graduate programs, which cover a wide range of disciplines and professional schools. Its faculty includes approximately 2,000 professors, 89.2% of them have graduate studies abroad, and several have received prestigious prizes and recognition for their contribution to academic knowledge.

The university's leadership in research and graduate programs has had considerable influence on the country's cultural and scientific development. It is an important national center of research in social science, natural sciences, health, economics, engineering, agriculture, philosophy, theology, arts and letters. In addition, its research activities enable it to support doctoral programs and to create an intellectually stimulating educational environment.

Located in a young and geographically distant country, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile believes that maintaining an active exchange program with foreign universities is crucial for its academic development.

This interest has led to the establishment of exchange agreements with more than two hundred and sixty universities in 40 countries around the world. Each year a growing number of students, largely from the United States, Europe and Asia come to study in our classrooms, and many PUC students have the same experience abroad.

I think it's the best to study Tourism in a city which is touristic... hehe :) Nope, I'm not studying tourism, but some of my classmates are going to study it.

You must be smart! :stunned: My brothers go/went to Melbourne Uni so there is pressure on me to go there too when my time comes...

i'm alright. i need to get a 43 average for the rest of my subjects ( i already did one in year 11) to get above 99. so if i knuckle down and work that shouldn't be too hard (if the work is there) and then i can do med!

^^ I highly doubt it!

Oh my gosh, my mom asked me, "Didn't you want to go to Harvard?! What happened??" And I said, "I wanted to go to Harvard-when I was 5. :dozey: "

Oh, and one of my friends told me that Christopher Newport, my second choice, is a mediocre school! I have to research these things more.
