Coldplay plan return to studio

 

Coldplay are planning to return to the studio for a new album - featuring a song which is "basically genius".

 

Chris Martin made the revelation speaking ahead of a show in Mexico. He said the band intends to record an album after a two-year break, but needs to come back with something strong.

 

"Now we feel like because we have this incredible job, now we can do whatever we like and try all kinds of new things," he explained to Associated Press. "In order for us to get excited about a new album, we have to have one song that we feel like everybody has to hear … before we die, otherwise we'll be terribly depressed.

 

"So luckily with this new record we're going to make, we have that one song. I can't tell you about it, but it's basically genius."

When he refers to the song as genius it gives me the impression it is somewhat of a gimick song (eg. contains bits of every style in it from classical to rap).

 

I HOPE IT'S NOT!! I hope it was purely a joke and the song turns out to be the Stairway to Heaven for Coldplay.

This sounds promising, but I wont be holding my breath just yet ;)

WHen Chris said it's 'basically genius' he was definitely joking a little. He does this all the time. And he calls every album/song he talks about genius, brilliant or the best song/album ever:lol: . So I doubt it'll be a gimick song. Once they feel they have that one 'touchstone' song down, they build the rest of the album around it...so it looks promising that they've found it!:D

I think I'll be the judge of it's 'genius', Chris.
