Band's fourth album is at mixing stage, say NME

 

Coldplay have reached the mixing stage of their fourth album, it has been revealed.

 

Kenny Anderson (aka King Creosote) revealed that his producer Jon Hopkins has been working on the production of Coldplay's new album. He told BBC 6Music that Hopkins recently mixed a song with Coldplay's Chris Martin.

 

"He's [Hopkins] done a mix of a song for them [Coldplay], I think they're really happy with that," said Anderson, before going on to explain that Hopkins had been playing keyboard on the new album.

 

"He's sitting in as their sort of guest keyboard player," he said. "They've been rehearsing for the new album, and he's sitting in doing keyboard parts, so I think they're trying stuff out.

 

"I don't know whether he'll get to go and play live with the band or not."

Well, the mixing part during the X&Y took a lot of time, didn't it? It's great that they have basically finished the songs, but when mixing comes in, there's still a lot to do. I think the album's going to be out in early 2008, february/march. Even if it came later, it would be worth waiting for. Also, Debs Wild said that 07's was never going to be the year of the release.

The mixing of all their albums took awhile.

WOW :shocked2: thats amazing. We've had so little news on the album and then to hear that they're at the mixing and rehearsal stage is awsome. I'm getting the feeling that they're trying to keep this new album under wraps and surprise us all with a masterpiece. I'm really starting to get excited now...I just wish they'd give us some updates a bit more regularly, but it'll be worth the wait in the end.

Wow, that's awesome. This gets me excited! But truthfully, I know now that it's impossible to guess when it's going to be released (they could go all radiohead on us and release it in a month you know! :laugh3:)

Coool! Very exciting news. I'm guessing it will be Feb/March in '08. But no doubt the marketing for it will start a bit before that.
