X&Y 2005 || LP4 2008 - Date Comparision (Note the one exactly three years ago)

Featured Replies

Okay so you people want "answers"? Well let's find some. LP4 release dates and summer tour date announcements can be compared to 6/6/05, which of course was when X&Y was let loose.

Just a few important dates from this time three years ago. By this time in 2005 Coldplay had already annouced all their summer tour dates and had already played a secret gig in London. And that was for a June release.

So, by my reckoning, if Coldplay were to release LP4 on May 19th (in the same timespan as X&Y), they would have had to announce it nearly three weeks ago.

Too bad they're on EMI....if they were independent they could pull a radiohead and announce it would be out in 10 days.

..and the other thing is they've got so many people in the spotlight working on this album (for example Marcus Dravs and Brian Eno) that they won't release details on the damn thing until its absolutely perfect for everyone concerned. August anyone?

^^^ well, shit:(

Heh, thats pretty much what came to my mind when I read that :dozey:

Well, unless there have been delays that they've kept quiet about (remember the "deadline still stands" comment?) then I can't see why they would release it later than May. And since there have been several reports indicating a similar release date, ie Rolling Stone, Q magazine, then surely the band themselves said in interviews that they were on schedule. Would the band allow these articles to say a May/June release when they know its later? I'm not convinced. But if we don't have any details by the end of the week, I'll start to wonder if there is a delay of some kind.

I don't really know what to think anymore to be honest.

Well quoting Rolling Stone or any source other than Prospekt for a release date may be a misnomer, the Rolling Stone magazine has already mentioned track titles that have not yet been officially confirmed. Maybe the date given by RS is unfounded as well.

I think all we can really hope for is that Coldplay are far more prepared this time round than they were in 2005

^Well maybe. Though I would have thought that having let RS listen to some of their new songs and allowing them to leak lyrics, they probably wouldn't have too much of a problem dropping a little hint of when this stuff actually comes out. Unless RS made the whole report up, then I think we have to give it some consideration. But I don't deny the potential speculation in the article.

I say wait until the end of the week, maybe Prospekt has written the entry already and we'll see it surface in a couple of days.

[/wishful_thinking]

Wouldnt it be really funny if they scrapped their ideas and sort of started again, a bit like they did for X&Y :D

Actually, it wouldn't be that funny I suppose.

Yeah I was just listening to the KCRW gig the other day and right away got a feeling of gloom. We haven't got any goodies like that, as of yet. :dozey:

my god, three years ago TODAY?! wowie, i didn't realize that. i suppose it's fitting that i've spent a large part of my day stalking coldplay.com and commiserating with semy, then.

eeek, i'm letting myself get too hopeful about this friday! must...stop!

i think i'm going to need to go on another movie and shoping excursion to get my mind off of all this. friday i'm going to need something really, really good...

^Haha, yes very fitting ;) . Although we seem to be the only ones who prefer the Coldplay section to the rest of the forums, so its no surprise that we bump into each other fairly often.

Keep the faith, Chelsea! I have a good feeling about this week.

well thats no good. hope its different this time

Heh, thats pretty much what came to my mind when I read that :dozey:

yep that pretty much summed it up for me...

i'm hoping they are just setting us up...leading us to believe that they couldn't possibly get the album out by May and then WHAM! they hit us with it...ok I can still dream...:laugh3:

:dozey::dozey:Its released when their ready, not when we demand for it lol :dozey::dozey::dozey:well not so much demand but impatiently waiting for it :D

i actually only branched out to the other sections around november 2007 or so! and i've been here two years! the coldplay section will always be my home base, no matter how much i post in the lounge and WoM.

i have faith for this week, but i also feel like i'm setting myself up for a letdown...i suppose it's good i'm busy at uni. if i was still out of school like i was this spring through winter, i'd probably go insane with coldplay-stalking!

But the thing to remember is that rollingstone.com, who obviously had inside sources, unless they made the whole thing up:uhoh2:, said it is due out in may. So we can ride our hopes on that

I posted mainly in the lounge when i first got here. Or rather I used this section and the lounge equally. They were mostly pointless nonsensical posts though :laugh1: I had a flick through my oldest posts and it was like I was a different poster. It wasn't until after i had a 5 month break from this place when I started posting in other places (Worlf of Music, etc), so it still feels a little new in some ways. But im definately at home here!

Anyway, the entry is either gonna happen or it isnt, so all we can do is sit back and let it happen i think.

It'll be funny when they release the title and date of release. Because then comes the little detail about actually waiting for it to come out!!!!!!! This is all so crazy that we'll all this pumped/excited/crazed/sleepless about DETAILS! :)

If it's coming out in early June, we may just be able to change all those dates to April. Or maybe even later if they're switching around their campaign.

No worries for a while. :smug2:

...Though news soon would be nice.

This can be pretty discouraging. but it is a different album. They arent going to do everything the exact same way they did with x&y.The time table could be different. In one of the journals or somewhere i remember reading something to the extent that they had some new ideas for promotion or the live show or something to that extent. So i guess we just have to wait and see what happens.Just have to wait til they give us an official release date.

I doubt they'd use the X&Y time frame. They did say a summer release and RS pointed to May/June...

What was the AROBTTH timeframe? I'd get it myself, but internet = le crap at the moment.

I think there are two distinct possibilities.

The silence means:

a) The album is done and ready, and will be released in May. With that, we’ll probably have a Prospekt update in the next few weeks that has a plethora of information: title, artwork, track listing, release date, single news, video news. This would make a May/June release entirely plausible. If everything is ready now, they could just be holding out to release all the information at once in a lump post.

b) May was the estimated release date back in January/February, but Chris’ had another burst of creativity and has a whole new bank of songs. That means more recording, more mixing and messing with the track listing. If that’s the case, we’d be looking at a release later in the year and perhaps the odd bit of information released over the next few months.
