Viva La Vida Review Song Escapist is on the album*New*revealed*

Featured Replies

I think, basically you can't just do something completely different than X&Y or Rush of blood..or Parachutes. It's still good music. Remember that a lot of great bands greatly transformed themselves during their careers, so I think we'll see a progress (by which I mean african -asian-or whatever influence, looking at other direction, Eno-esque maybe).

But then again, Reign Of Love is piano based, many songs that haven't been specifically mentioned are likely to end up Coldplay-esque.

So don't worry, just be happy that Coldplay are releasing this new album. What a great fun will this summer be.;)

yes I guess ! I just dont like it when Chris insists on the fact that not everybody will like their new album... :\

He says that everytime though

Honestly though, when you think of all your favourite albums you know not everyone will like them. But you do and that's all that matters.

nah, i know what you mean, and i am a bit worried, but i guess i'm just saving the worry until after i hear the first released song. if i don't really like that too much...then i'll start to get really concerned.

but the way i look at it, the last "real" things that they released were "sleeping sun," "the world turned upside down," and "gravity." apart from "gravity," i think those songs were kind of really different than the sorts of things the guys had done before, both lyrically and musically, yet they still retained that essential and amazing coldplayness in them. they were more oblique lyrically and had different vibes than a lot of their other stuff, which i absolutely loved. those two songs are some of my absolute favorite coldplay songs, and if they're going in that sort of direction with their music, i'm not all that worried. really, as long as it's still recognizable as coldplay and we get some good lyrics, i'll probably love it :D

(i hope)

:) Im sure you're all right about it then.. this is a Coldplay album. No matter how different it will be from the other three LPs, we'll enjoy it anyway.

Will it be better though ?!

I hope so :P

frankly, i don't think anything will ever top AROBTTH in my book, not even from coldplay themselves. i'm ok with that, but that doesn't mean i'm not expecting it to be AMAZING.

but if i like it better than AROBTTH...:dead:

if this one isnt better, they still have plenty of time in their long career to make a big boom busting rock seller greatest album of all time ten times better than AROBTTH !!

but yeah, that's hard to beat it :)

Perhaps they are in the process of shooting a video right now? Can't see any other reason why Prospekt would be writing from Sicily??

the food...

Coldplay recorded a number of other songs that did not wind up making the final track list' date=' including "Postcards From Far Away," "Lukas," "Rainy Day," "The Goldrush" and "Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground," but it's unknown if they will be released in some form down the road.[/quote']

why did they even mention that? :( those titles already sound so promising. i hope we get them as b-sides.

oh, and besides that i dislike all this talking about the album/fourthcoming single/video/whatever is related to new material because i finally want SOMETHING. i dunno... i want an album cover, photos from promotion shoots, anything! BUT WE NEVER SEEM TO GET ANYTHING AT ALL!!!! :(:\

Yes this happens with nearly every band on every album

Very frustrating when you like a band so much as I like Coldplay. All those songs we don't know what happened with. They might have made so much songs I could have really loved but I'll never hear.

As sad as it is, I totally agree. I guarantee we'll hear at LEAST one of them though. Either leaked, at a concert, or on a bside. But just think about the first single!!! Prospekt said 1 or TWO songs before the release :) The album is only two months off. Just think about what you were doing in the middle of February! That doesn't seem that long ago! Now think if we got a song a month since then! I have a feeling that this two months will go by pretty quick. I mean, it's almost been a month since we found out the album title! You could make the time go by faster by listening to one Coldplay song a day till the release! :D

In the meantime, before the heavens open up and grace us with Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, I'm going to bask in the genius that is The National, Elbow, and some In Rainbows! There's ALWAYS good music out there to listen to before one of the greatest albums ever comes out :D

doesn't the escapist come out today?

Definitely wasn't out today, just looked at the listings for all the cinemas near me. Not there.

Even though i wanted this info, it makes me more anxious and MORE hungry for any kind of audio clips of their songs

I'm anxious too ^^

I'm confused, but I was right (according to billboard)(ah and about song ofr the escapist)

first single

does anyone know when 42 or whatever the first single is comes out?

I think the first single is about a month away. I could be wrong (also could be right) :laugh3:

I also love that there's another "hidden" (not so hidden anymore) track!!

are we sure that there's a hidden track, though? i think we're making a big assumption here. they didn't have one on AROBTTH, so i don't think we can say it's a given. i don't think "escapist" will be on the album at all, that we'll just get it in the soundtrack or in the film or not at all.

EDIT: never mind, semy sorted me out

thing in the billboard article and all that. whoopsies!

I think it'll be like Everything's Not Lost/Life is for Living. From Billboard: "...tacked onto the final song, "Death and All His Friends," as a hidden track dubbed "The Escapist."

EDIT: Sorry - didn't see your edit when I started the reply!

do we know for certain that 42 is the first single?

I keep reading the Prospekt entry and the track details and I STILL can't believe its almost here! Theres a new Coldplay that is done and ready to be released!!:)

I love reading about what songs sound like...makes me want to hear them soo much!!! And its gonna be great when we finally do hear them and can go "Oooohhh yeeaahh....it does sound like that!!"

In the same breath, I don't always like too much description, because just hearing it from scratch with no expectations is always good too. Ah well, I CAN'T WAIT!!! YAYY!!!!

so pumped right now
