Violet Hill To Be Released As 'Download Only' In Three Weeks Time

Featured Replies

May 5th - That's OK - But I also think it's not soon enough!

I was expecting the single this week, 'cause if Violet Hill is released on May, I don't think we will be hearing anything else until June 16.

By the way, how much we will have to wait for that "extra stuff"?

The band is being very slow in this whole process - we still are waiting for: 1) LP artwork, 2) new webpage, 3) tour dates and 4) single!!!

cheers!!!

According to that guy who heard it on that ipod, he confirmed we'd get it at the beginning of may but that we'd hear it sooner. I would really like to know what that whole 'new website' was about and when we'll see it. I really thought we'd hear it sooner than May :(

CONFUSED?

ok if violet hill is only gonna be released as a promo and only downloaded does that mean its not gonna be on the "Viva la Vida" Album ??

  • Author

its already part of the tracklisting

I'm thinking we really need a Prospekt entry sometime very soon

Someone kidnapped prospekt, that would explain it all :o

Cant wait, only around 2 weeks now, i'll try to stop thinking about it all the time so time goes faster :)

its already part of the tracklisting, but is not gonna be realeased like a single

Oh, I can't wait for Violet Hill!

It's marked on my calendar and everything! I've heard it's supposed to be pretty good, so let's hope!

*crosses fingers*

¡Viva la Vida!

If it's released to radio on May 5th, anyone think there's a chance of us getting it on the Coldplayer sooner?

Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Theres a chance that we MIGHT get it leaked before then. I talked to a radio station person here in the states and thought I had a scoop for her about the single, but she already knew :dozey: But she did say that she's gonna hear it THIS WEEK!!! So, she's my new best friend obviously :)

I also just ordered my copy of the album off of Amazon for free.

Of course the song will be leaked on the Internet before May 5th as well as the album VLVODAAHF.

The issue is the quality of those leaks.

The good part is that things are starting to speed up - I AM VERY EXCITED!!!

cheers,

I am doing something very difficult. I am going to resist listening to any pre-released songs cuz I want to hear them all at the same time like I did with the other albums. I may be the only Coldplay fan in the world to do this, but I will avoid radio, internet downloads, everything. I'm gonna test my own patience and wait until the album is released.:\

i wanna get a prospekt update but if the pattern continues, we won't get another one for about a month.

Violet Hill

Too[/B] excited for words!!!

May 5th seems so close... and yet so far away!!!

I admire your principles, but I doubt you'll be able to avoid it. Once it gets the first play on the radio it will be everywhere.

Nice idea though, good luck!!!

VLV Track Descriptions!!! Viva La Vida VLV Track Details>>>

Can't believe you guys here at coldplaying.com haven't posted this yet....

seems to be a nice description of the structure and content of VLV.

So far the most detailed info i have found.

*believe these people were at the recent gigs in South America and Spain and have actually heard the new tracks such as Violet Hill...

What do you think?

Getting excited now?????

“Violet Hill”:

One of the strongest of the new songs, the band is considering giving it away as a special promotion in coming weeks and then leaving it off the album. Opening with a jagged distorted guitar riff, the song announces a new template: The stalking, bluesy beat fits nicely with Martin’s earthy vocals and plaintive lyrics: “If you love me, won’t you let me know?”

“42″:

The fact that the band is considering this song as the album’s first real single underlines how far they’re willing to a stray from their formula: It’s an elaborate three-part piece, with swirling pianos, strings and beat loops that build to an uptempo climax, with some seriously stoner lyrics: “Those who are dead are not dead/They’re just living in my head.”

“Yes”:

Here, Martin’s vocals take center stage like never before: Sounding more aggressive and strong than ever, they sit on top of an irresistible North African string-and-tablas arrangement and ache more convincingly than all the lilting falsetto in the world: “If you’d only, if you’d only say ‘Yes’/I’m just so tired of this loneliness.” It’s the band’s freshest song since “Parachutes.”

“Death and All His Friends”:

A straight-up rock tune with a riff that sounds ripped from the Doobie Brothers, piano, and, in the last section, flute.

“Cemetaries of London”:

Notice the thematic pattern emerging from the title and lyrics? This one, with an electro loop and hand claps, doesn’t sound as glum as its title portends.

“Life in Technicolor”:

Acoustic-guitar driven and jangly, this is one of the few tracks that seems built from the Coldplay template of songs like “Don?t Panic,” only a bit more, well, panicked: “Baby it’s a violent world,” Martin sings.

“Chinese Sleep Chant”:

Opening with a jagged guitar riff, the song quickly settles into a propulsive dance-track loop with low-mixed, angelic vocals.

“Strawberry Swing”:

This is one of several potential album cuts with Afro-pop and high-life influences: Here, distortion-free finger-picked guitars which sound straight out of Mali mix with a heavy bassline and psychedelic synths. “My Mum comes from Zimbabwe, so I spent a lot of time there,” says Martin. “I used to work in a studio where people played that.”

“Reign of Love”:

A lovely layered composition of piano, bass and organ that backs fairytale lyrics.

I have a couple of radio contacts that I can't really push too hard, but I can poke them a little. You know if I can scoop it early, I'll be sharing it here first.:)

Where have you been? Everyone knows about that.

I can imagine driving home from school on may 5th..

VOICE ON THE RADIO: And now, here is the new single from Coldplay called "Violet Hill"!

ME: OH YEAH!! *gets out mobile phone and uses voice record function to record it.* this is coldplaying material!

What is the meaning behind Violet Hill in the sense of the song?

I guess we won't really know what it means until we hear the lyrics, but it will be beautiful either way.

We have seen those track descriptions already, but thanks for being helpful, and welcome to the forum!!:)

I just sent an email to a programming director at our local rock station who is a fan of my music and knows how much I love Coldplay...her rigged a radio contest for me once so I could see them in TO,lol. All I did was ask when the single will be out (even though I know). The hope is that he'll share an advance copy with me if he gets one...slim chance, but you never know.

I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner.

you're out of your mind!!!

wait until June 16th?

That's impossible - especially if you are a coldplaying.com addict like me and log in every time you can to see if there's any news!!!

good luck although!!!

What is the meaning behind Violet Hill in the sense of the song?

Somethings we know about Violet Hill:

This hard-rocking track is about the Violet Hill Bed and Breakfast in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Martin saw it online once and has just always really wanted to go there. (New York Magazine)

Opening with a jagged distorted guitar riff, the song announces a new template: The stalking, bluesy beat fits nicely with Martin's earthy vocals and plaintive lyrics: "If you love me, won't you let me know?" (Rolling Stone)

Released to radio :(

I know it's soon really but when we know so much and are so desperate to hear it it's an age! I was hoping it was gunna be this week.

Sigh. *prays for a leak*

Isn't this the rolling stone review from a month or two ago?

o__________0;;

I seem to have a magical power for being home when big Coldplay news comes out :D.

But you know what this means for the single?
