stutomo
Coldplay – Violet Hill Was a long and dark December From the rooftops I remember There was snow White snow Clearly I remember From the windows they were watching While we froze down below When the future's architectured By a carnival of idiots on show You'd better lie low If you love me Won't you let me know? Was a long and dark December When the banks became cathedrals And the fox became God Priests clutched onto bibles Hollowed out to fit their rifles And the cross was held aloft Bury me in armor When I’m dead and hit the ground My love’s opposed, but unfolds If you love me Won't you let me know? I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship Would stow, far below So if you love me Why'd you let me go? I took my love down to Violet Hill There we sat in the snow All that time she was silent still So if you love me Won't you let me know? If you love me, Won't you let me know? panicked
^Thank you. I was trying to find the 'sinking ship' line, cos it was one of the riddles I got with the glass of water. These are my favourite lyrics of the whole album I think.

I read the Oracle thread and they asked what Chris says after 'Bury me in armor whae I'm dead and hit the ground' and the answer was 'My nerves are poles that unfroze'

100miles
as close as i'll likely get Was a long and dark December From the rooftops I remember There was snow, white snow Clearly I remember From the windows they were watching While we froze down below When the future's architectured By a carnival of idiots on show You'd better lie low If you love me Won't you let me know Was a long and dark December When the banks became cathedrals And the fog became God Priests clutched onto Bibles Hollowed out to fit their rifles And the cross was held aloft Bury me in armor When I'm dead and hit the ground My words are poems that unfold If you love me Won't you let me know I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship would stow far below So if you love me Why'd you let me go I took my love down to Violet Hill There we sat in snow All that time she was silent still So if you love me Won't you let me know If you love me Won't you let me know

The Final Track
It was a long and dark December From the rooftops I remember There was snow, white snow Clearly I remember From the windows they were watching While we froze down below When the future's architectured By a carnival of idiots on show You'd better lie low If you love me, won't you let me know? Was a long and dark December When the banks became cathedrals And a fox became God Priests clutched onto bibles Hollowed out to fit their rifles And a cross held aloft Bury me in armour When I'm dead and hit the ground My nerves are poles that unfroze And if you love me, won't you let me know? I don't want to be a soldier Who the captain of some sinking ship Would stow, far below. So if you love me, why d'you let me go? I took my love down to violet hill There we sat in snow All that time she was silent still Said if you love me, won't you let me know? If you love me, won't you let me know? kevbro93
I think "when the banks became cathedrals" sounds most correct but what the heck does that mean? O.o and to me it sounds like he's saying "and the fog became gone" or something... Yeah it is cathedrals. and personally my first thought when I heard that line was churches and cathedrals become too focused on profit. I think he's talking about an increasingly "religious" society, "when the banks became cathedrals... and the fog became God" and its apparent hypocrisy (supporting the killing of others to aid their own cause) "priests clutched onto bibles and went out to fit their rifles." We have to remember the time period this song was based upon. just look up violet hill :)
