The line ''and the fog became God'' is the most blurry one. I'd say it sounds more like ''and the fuss became gone'', maybe that makes a bit more sence.

He does, which was really weird because that makes no sense at all...unlike "and the fog became God". And it doesn't sound like "fox" at all in the studio version...

 

It also has a good clue to the mystery line after "When I'm dead and hit the ground": at least to me, the last bit very clearly sounds like "that unfroze." Anyone think they know what the rest is?

well, however heard "fox" in the live version instead of "fog"is apparently correct according to the lyrics included in the japan edition of the album

According to Rolling Stone's interview with Martin, both confirmed it was "fox" and was named after the news network. I never would have guessed but it makes sense now. Martin saw Bill O'Reilly on TV and some people think O'Reilly thinks he's god.

Hello - just been trying to learn this song on guitar - amazing how wrong some of the online lyrics sites are.

 

There is definately an "s" sound at the end of the word fog. You can hear it on the album version and (more clearly) at the live bbc event on iplayer.

 

So its either "fogs"

 

or as I first thought "Fox"

 

Both work lyrically for me.

 

Unless its frogs! (A Joke - :) )
