Q Magazine's new radio station

Iconic music magazine Q launches its new radio station 'Q radio' this week with a star interview from Coldplay.

Unique and exclusive access to the world’s biggest music stars will be one of the calling cards of the new digital-only station, as you would expect from Q, alongside exclusive live performances and the best music from emerging and established acts.

Making their radio debut will be DJ and Performance Duo: The Broken Hearts. By day Amber and Nisha work at one of London’s best known vintage clothes shops – at night they transform into The Broken Hearts. Drawing from the iconography of Weimar Berlin, circus sideshows and the Golden Age of Hollywood their stage show is a technicolour extravaganza combining an eclectic DJ set with their extensive wardrobe of identical costumes and occasional choreographed routines.

Having graced the decks of clubs in Paris, Stockholm and Milan – as well as the legendary Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club – Broken Hearts aim to capture the glamour and musical eclecticism of their live sets in to a jam-packed unique hour of entertainment from 9pm to 10pm on a Sunday evening.

Also new to Q Radio will be broadcaster and writer David Quantick whose vast and varied credits include writing Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Grumpy Old Men – which spent 14 weeks in the Sunday Times Top 10 list – and he was part of the writing team behind the infamous Brass Eye paedophile special. David wrote the best-selling Eddie Izzard: Dress To Kill, as well as being a journalist for Esquire and Q and a columnist (Quantick’s World) for Select Magazine.

QPM presenter Samanthi

Already announced are the flagship daily evening show QPM hosted by former XFM and BBC 2 Desi DNA presenter Samanthi. Acid Jazz records founder Eddie Piller and acclaimed young stand-up comic Russell Kane [big Brother's Big Mouth, C4; Out to Lunch, BBC Radio 2] will also be joining Q.

Eddie will host a weekly Friday night show featuring guests and anecdotes drawn from nearly 30 years in music business: from his days as a label manager at the legendary Stiff records, through the launch of his Acid Jazz label, his seminal Blue Note nightclub in Hoxton and beyond.

Russell Kane has established himself as one of the hottest tipped comics in the UK. He will present a weekly Sunday show which will be fast-paced and spontaneous and characterised by his unique sharp wit which has made him a firm favourite on the comedy circuit.

Q Radio is available nationwide on Freeview, DAB and online at http://www.q4music.com

Bah, this totally sucks for people outside the US.

I guess I'll be recording it anyway, so its not to much of a problem, but still.

Anyway, awesome news about hearing different versions of 2 new songs - can't wait!

thanks for recording it, semy! (it sounds like you will, anyway, but no pressure...i bet someone else will?)

i just tested it, and deffi no worky for americans. MUFFINS.

i don't remember how it works for all the mirror tech stuff but....

maybe someone could redirect the stream, for people outside the UK?

would be great if we all listen live

Do Skype do group conferences? Someone could set one up... but they're going to have a lot of listeners!

Or maybe a non-UKer could pick an individual UK groupie to call :P
