Briggins first..."theres this girl"..type of thread

Featured Replies

Theres this girl.....

...and it happens to be my sisters friend. She's 17, while I'm almost 20. So a 2.5 years difference.

And I guess she has a crush on me. And I'm not sure what to think. Is it to big of an age difference? Is she too young?

I guess the way we really hit it off is because she likes all the same music as me (Radiohead, Broken Social Scene, Interpol, etc.) and also she's a hockey fan as well. And a solid Christian too, which is something I personally find important.

So basically we get along great, but the age difference thing is really holding me back from pursuing a relationship.

I don't think it's that much of a difference, I know it's a cliche but in a few years the difference would mean nothing.

I went out with a guy who was 23 when I was 18 and it was really no big deal, especially as (another cliche, but it's true) girls mature much faster than guys.

Try looking at it this way...if your sister was going out with a guy like you at 17, would you be worried?

I dont think either that it is a big difference.. it's quite nothing actually ! and the matter is that you do get along well. I think you should definitely give it a try !

although, is your sister ok with it ?

I know it'd be weird if my brother would date one of my friends.

i turned 19 in february, my girlfriend is 16 in july.

if when you're with her or talking to her you feel like you're talking to someone of your age, i don't see the problem.

relax, it's not a big difference... and if you share things in common and like each other... everything's ok

Aw Briggs the difference is nothing!

Looks like you just found the right girl for you! hockey, music.. bingo!

2.5 years difference, so about the same as my parents, whom have been married for 26 years come September.

I would go for it

Just remember no sex before marriage :P

Or Little baby Jesus will cry.

all has been said here.

age doesn't matter at all, what matter is that you have some points in common (not all must be the same, it would be boring if she is like your 'clone', don't you think?), so the same goes with age, it doesn't matter too much.

just ask yourself what will your sister think about it...

or what would you think about if it was the same situation with your sister. (about the age difference).

Definitely go for it. My friend has the same trouble like this but maybe worse. I told her the same thing and that's not to worry. That's really little age difference really. I went out with this guy whos 18 and I was well 14...

lol David...

Well Jon did write

And No sex before marriage is something solid Christians are supposed to do ;)

I thought premarital sex is a big deal only for catholics. But i can't really say that i know much about this subject haha

^ (David) yes indeed! I fully agree except... I hope not to get lost along the way...

This is true.

And yeah, my sister and her aren't super tight or anything. I think they've only hung out 2 or 3 times. So it wouldn't be like me going after her best friend or anything like that.

Haha ! what you're waiting for then ! :D

Briggins, my parents have a SIX year age difference, and they're fine. I think you're starting to approach an age when a difference of a couple years is no big deal at all. She sounds like a really cool person who would be perfect for you...I say ask her out!

(PS.. what happened to your other crush though?)

why is the age difference so horrible for you? i don't think it's a problem. i'm turning 17 in august and my boyfriend has just turned 19 and it's no problem for us.

if you like each other, and you have some things in common, i think it may work.

That's not a big age difference, and as other people have said, it won't even matter at all in a few years.

She seems to be a nice match for you, so I say go for it! :nice: Keep us posted!

Don't worry Briggins, if that's the case, He has already wept bucketloads over me!:dozey:

I'm a good old-fashioned Irish Roman Catholic (Stephen Colbert is my personal guru) and they didn't teach us that at Sunday school cos of:

1) We don't have Sunday school

&

2) No religion teacher wanted to hear those three letters strung together in that order

We learned everything we needed to in Health Ed - God bless that poor teacher's soul...:smug:

Guys guys guys I'm having to sort you all out!

We are human beings too!!!!!!!!!

Hmm I have really taken up a fair bit of space but so many people have got the wrong idea about us:dozey:

But, Briggins, that age difference is NOTHING - echoing the sentiments of everyone else here - and the fact that you have common interests - but not in everything - is great.

Like everyone else, go for it man - there was a girl I really fancied and I didn't ask out for ages cos I wasn't sure about age diff and everything but man I should have just asked her straight off and saved me days of stomach pains and sleeplesss nights!

GO FOR IT!!!

But don't make Baby Jesus cry!! (Thanks David_Watts, now that image will stay with me forever:( I hope you're happy!)

i would make a joke about having a girlfriend who is 3 years old , but that would sound very perverted and michael jackson like
