do they specify your seat or the time on the tickets?

Just to shed some more light on the situation:

 

Just heard that WPLJ, radio station in New York, has tickets for the (and I quote) "Coldplay Fan Appreciation Concert at MSG" and will be giving them away. I can only assume there are some other radio stations doing the same...this should go somewhat in making sure that MSG is filled with music fans and not empty seats and/or industry insiders.

 

As for the posts about "coldplayers" vs people who just want to go to a free show...well, I find that argument fairly hollow. My wife is a bigger fan than I am, yet I am the one who hangs out at the message boards. I'm sure that a vast majority of the people who went through the effort of of entering a contest to SEE COLDPLAY are at least as big of fans as MOST of us here...and, as in any contest, some will win, some will lose.

I don't ever post here, but I read here quite often.

I'm from Australia and am traveling to America this month. When I found out Coldplay were playing at MSG for free I rescheduled my trip to the east coast so we can see them. Being quite desperate to get tickets I entered my friends as well so they could give me the tickets if they won.

Here's the crazy thing. Practically every entry I put in has won. I don't understand, mathematically it seems impossible. I just wanted to win once! Now I feel terrible as so many of you have missed out. So I'm going to keep 1 set of tickets for myself and give the rest away. If you want a set send me a PM and I'll forward one of the e-mails your way. I will give preference to Mets Fans :p

 

I can't actually guarantee that you will get in, as the name on the tickets will not match yours. I can't imagine coldplay turning away people at the door with tickets. It doesn't seem right. Especially when they weren't scalped. Personally, I would have preferred to fork out $70 for a ticket than go though this.

 

Hopefully after this some of us "real" fans can still get in.

did you enter with a NY postcode? I entered with the Manhattan postcode of the place I'm staying and won. The few PMs I have got have all been from outer New York so I'm guessing they have only been giving tickets away to people in the New York area, which makes sence. I'm assuming your from Detroit?

 

Of the 7 e-mails I checked, 6 have won. The only one that hasn't has been with one with my own name on it. So I'm still scared I wont get in. Serves me right I guess!

you can take the 1, 2 or 3 train downtown to 34th Street (Penn Station) and walk down to 33rd Street and 7th Avenue.

it takes about 15 minutes altogether

well i didn't get a lucky email and i live only about half an hour away from manhattan...but i guess it's better this way since i'm supposed to have an exam that night anyway and i doubt the professor would let me take it early or do a makeup test so that i could go to the concert...maybe i'll just go to the Today show appearance and definitely try to get tix for when they come here to Jersey in October! gotta think positive! :D

yea im gonna send and angry or something to them. because well at first when i heard about it i thought "WOw great idea" but now i realize it was implemented poorly and a lot of true fans are really getting screwed because of it. how big is MSG anyway? there most be more than 3500 seats in that thing. someones gotta have more tickets. i work for CBS Radio so im gonna see if i can pull some strings or something. i would want to go the today show but it at like 7AM and i really dont think i can get up at 3AM and stand/sit on the street for 4 hours and maybe get in. im sure that concert will be a something close to a mob scence. plus i gotta work b at work in the morning and i dont htink they start playing till like 8am if not later so.... yea.

As of 1 PM on Friday (NY time) the contest confirmation page says:

"You will receive an order confirmation on June 9th or before. If you don't receive anything by then please contact us at..."
