in my opinion it wasnt the smartest thing for them to do to have the winners being announced so late, maybe if the concert was sometime in july then it gives you at least a month to get everything prepared, but 2 weeks?? come on, thats like nothing, and ill barely even be able to afford a plane ticket let alone a hotel for even a night even if i do win, ill try my best to get there somehow but there is only so much i can do in 2 weeks notice.

Still no email yet (and I'm in the NYC area), but okay, this is my reasoning, and i might be a little too optimistic but this is my thinking anyway: the reason they started sending them out today and not June 5th is because they know a lot of people far from NY entered in hopes of winning the grand prize with the flight to NY. So they're expecting a lot of people who entered to turn down the tickets anyway because they didn't win the flight there. So then they will email more people after they hear from the people who can't make it, and then everyone will know by June 5th. Sooo hopefully emails will continue being sent to winners until the 5th.

ahhh....I didn't know you had to confirm an e-mail to be entered in the contest. I never got a confirmation e-mail, nor did I check my junk e-mal to see if it got sent there. I had problems getting the Violet Hill song too when if first came out. I just assumed when it said, you have entered the contest, then I had entered.

 

It sucks that there were so many problems just entering the contest. I was willing to take a day off from work to go there. :(

Exactly. Clearly they had the best of intentions, but a few things needed to be better thought-out.

I feel like not enough people from the boards here won for them to be done sending out all the emails. Lets not give up yet!!!

I signed up like three times, but never got a confirmation email sent to me, so I don't believe that is a good sign for me. :(

I also tried a couple of times.. and the only one that worked for me was gmail. I got an email from it and then a week later, I got the email for my aol account but I didn't click on it for fear of being disqualified.

They should really let people line up to get tickets if the stadium isnt full. I would wait online like the whole night for them... even more :)

i hope you know that the rules state that as soon as one email is confirmed no more entries will be valid.

 

 

THE RULE FOR VALID ENTRIES IS SIMPLE:

 

you can enter as many times as you want but once you confirm your email address and it gives you the page that says "congratulations your entered" that after that no more entries from that email will be accepted, it DOES NOT mean that you will be disqualified completely if you have tried to enter more then once with one email, it JUST means that any additional confirmations will be discarded from the system and only the first/original entry is still valid.

 

BUT TO EVERYONE THINKING THEY ARE DISQUALIFIED FOR MORE THEN ONE ENTRY, its not true!!!

 

it ONLY means that your first confirmed email is the only entry that is valid for that email.

 

because I myself used hotmail and entered over 25 times and never got the first confirmation email at all that it said i would "shortly". so i kept entering until i just said whatever to it, then around a week later i randomly got like 25 confirmation emails that all said the same thing, and from there i confirmed my email address ONCE and i was officially entered, and from there it said any additional entries from the same email will be discarded, NOT if you enter more then once your disqualified.

 

sorry for the extra long explanation, im just attempting to completely clear this up for everyone that is afraid they are screwed for entering more then once.

 

the majority of the people ive talked to back in the days when the contest was running, more then half of them never got the first email to confirm their email within the first few days, and with this contest being as large as it is, and as late as its being ended/announced, i honestly have no idea why certain people have already gotten e-mails saying they have won a pair of tickets, but the official email i got said that on june 5th the winners will be announced/notified, so no matter what im staying optimistic until thursday. and even if i dont win any tickets, ive already got tix to the minneapolis show im and very, very, very close to the stage so ill have an extremely happy july 8th with coldplay, although i do feel EXTREMELY bad to anyone who cant see them in their own town and who wont see them on this tour, that just sucks, but good news is, less then 2 weeks until the records out for the U.S.!!

 

PLUS, no one has been announced as the grand prize winner yet anyways, soooo we all still have a chance.

All these theories are making me crazy instead of making me feel better! :confused: Like: "must be that right now only NY people are getting emails, the rest of us will get it by the 5th," and "it might be going by zip code or something. "'Cause I live in NJ, like 20 minutes away from NYC, so if I follow these theories than I'm out of luck :(! And I know it's stupid, but I really really want to go!!! Knowing that I'll be so close and not there will kill me...
