New York show winners are ....

Featured Replies

they should have whoever won email them back to confirm that they will be going. And then give the tickets of people who cant go to another set of random winners. or else MSG will be half empty.

You had to do that. So maybe there will be more tickets heading out to lucky people!

i hope you know that the rules state that as soon as one email is confirmed no more entries will be valid.

THE RULE FOR VALID ENTRIES IS SIMPLE:

you can enter as many times as you want but once you confirm your email address and it gives you the page that says "congratulations your entered" that after that no more entries from that email will be accepted, it DOES NOT mean that you will be disqualified completely if you have tried to enter more then once with one email, it JUST means that any additional confirmations will be discarded from the system and only the first/original entry is still valid.

BUT TO EVERYONE THINKING THEY ARE DISQUALIFIED FOR MORE THEN ONE ENTRY, its not true!!!

it ONLY means that your first confirmed email is the only entry that is valid for that email.

because I myself used hotmail and entered over 25 times and never got the first confirmation email at all that it said i would "shortly". so i kept entering until i just said whatever to it, then around a week later i randomly got like 25 confirmation emails that all said the same thing, and from there i confirmed my email address ONCE and i was officially entered, and from there it said any additional entries from the same email will be discarded, NOT if you enter more then once your disqualified.

sorry for the extra long explanation, im just attempting to completely clear this up for everyone that is afraid they are screwed for entering more then once.

the majority of the people ive talked to back in the days when the contest was running, more then half of them never got the first email to confirm their email within the first few days, and with this contest being as large as it is, and as late as its being ended/announced, i honestly have no idea why certain people have already gotten e-mails saying they have won a pair of tickets, but the official email i got said that on june 5th the winners will be announced/notified, so no matter what im staying optimistic until thursday. and even if i dont win any tickets, ive already got tix to the minneapolis show im and very, very, very close to the stage so ill have an extremely happy july 8th with coldplay, although i do feel EXTREMELY bad to anyone who cant see them in their own town and who wont see them on this tour, that just sucks, but good news is, less then 2 weeks until the records out for the U.S.!!

PLUS, no one has been announced as the grand prize winner yet anyways, soooo we all still have a chance.

Man, I should have read this! Why does it have to be so hard to sign up for a contest. It really shouldn't be. I mean all the other contests I have ever signed up for don't say that you have to confirm that you have signed up. Anyways...bummer...I would have made sure that I got a confirmation e-mail and signed up a million times if I knew that before.

arrrrrgh, i almost want to stop having hope so i can be done with it. but sadly, i still harbor a few cells of "oh man, the email could just be there tomorrow" or "hmm, well there will be a second round of emails in a few days when people can't go or don't confirm their links and i'm in the area..."

BLERGH. i didn't really think i'd win, but i didn't think i'd be this sad either

yeah exactly.. I didn't think I would get sad by it but I've had a rough week so every little small thing is getting to me.. hmmmmm

It is a bummer!

but on another note... Are they even playing a show in NY other than the free one that they are having? I didn't notice any while I was looking today. If they aren't, it really wouldn't make sense if everyone that is from NY didn't win, because what other show would they go to, if they can't get out of the state?

I suppose they are going to post other shows later than the ones that are already planned?

I waited outside Metro, in Chicago to buy tickets to an intimate show last time they were touring for X & Y. I was majorly bummed when they only chose around the first 10-15 in line to get tickets. The venue holds a lot more. I waited for 4 hours and know that the others ahead of me must have waited much longer. I was extremely disappointed when we didn't even get a chance at getting tickets. I wouldn't have waited that long if I knew I didn't have a chance. It seems when it comes to free or smaller shows they don't have everything planned quite right...information wise.

Then what sucked even more, is I heard they let people in who were waiting outside the venue right before the concert when they heard their story about not being able to get the tickets...

Whatever...you win some, you lose all

Don't give up just yet!

You have until the end of tomorrow to find out!

REALLY! ODSMNFKLJNRFRFS OMG REALLY REALLY!?

hello all first post long time lurker!

this is why it's a double bummer for my friends and i. this promo concert basically changed the odds of landing a ticket to the one nyc show from the 15k it would be for a regular show to just 3500, plus the fact that naturally many more people from across the country would be in the running for this particular show. doh.

guess i'll go stand outside and listen to the bass or something :embarassed:

I think Coldplay will probably come around for a second leg of this tour sometime next year, and I would not be surprised if they play MSG again! I know with the Twisted Logic tour they came by NY twice! So hopefully they will be back soon.

Hey! Lurking is fun! Don't worry, I think I saw that there were 90 guests reading in this forum not to long ago... But, I'm glad you posted your story.

Yah, I just started thinking about that today. That is kind of bad on their part...if there is no other NY show. I still can't believe that is true, since NY is one of the biggest cities in the US! And Chris lived their for some time.

I just don't know why they didn't make this "free show" just for NY if they knew that in the beginning there was not going to be no other show. They shouldn't keep people's hopes up.

Why is it only 3,500 people anyways? If it is a free show...why not fill the whole stadium up?

The question is when they will fit it in since they are going to be touring Europe & the UK too...

But, yah next year sounds right.

it will be half empty anyway msg holds more than 7000.

i'd also like them to let the losers no they lost so they don't keep waiting for an email

When I had first saw the headline of "Coldplay to play free show in NYC" I had thought it would be along the lines of the massive (and legendary tbqh :)) central park concerts, as they are no doubt of that caliber band. coldplay and a few hundred thousand fans in the heart of nyc would be a fantastic time. a free MSG show is still unprecedented, but i guess i was hoping for easier accessibility and bigger scale thats all.

as for why so few people, you'll have to ask MSG and the band about that. capacity is certainly much greater than that.

As for the strangely small capacity, maybe the show is in the MSG theatre instead of the arena. The theatre is much smaller, though now that I think about it, it might be too small for 7000 people. Just a thought.

i saw a show in that theatre. it cannot hold 7000

i wanna see it too. i kinda don't believe it cuz they dont announce it til tommorow right?

yea I didn't believe it either until I checked my own e-mail. Basically when I clicked the register link it had a form for name and mailing address for tickets. We don't find out our seats until the tickets come, and it said I had until June 5th to fill out the form. Order confirmations should come around Friday and the tickets go out by Tuesday.

Also it wouldn't let you edit the name the tickets were awarded to. It was the same name you entered the contest with. It said that if you can't go to respond to the e-mail and say so. I'm guessing that those tickets, along with any other tickets not claimed by the 5th deadline are up for grabs for the rest of you, which is why I wouldn't give up just yet.

As far as the venue, is it 3500 winners and 7000 tickets or 7000 winners and 14000 tickets? ( which would make more sense based on the size of MSG) If it's only 7000 people going I would imagine that they open up the rest of the Garden with some other promotion, although time is running out with the show in less than 2 1/2 weeks.

I'll keep everybody posted with anything I get regarding the contest, and once again I want to wish everybody luck because I firmly believe the contest isn't over just yet.

i sincerely hope not.

i thought for sure i would've landed one.

nevertheless, thanks for the update.

So there's no Brixxy results yet?

Man, Brixxy should have been first, since it's being played first.

agreed.

agh do i want to win?? on one hand, winning would throw me into a complete celebratory mood () but i've got to book a flight and accommodations in two weeks...that's costly at the last minute. especially when there's a big probability that i might not even get good seats (since i don't have control over that bit). all that effort for seats in the back. :(

on the other hand, it'll be less trouble to deal with, but right now getting tickets to L.A. is a serious pain! Best Buy Reward Zone, Ticketmaster, and KROQ 106.7FM contest my arse! :furious2:

:embarassed::embarassed::embarassed:

man if I didn't win can they least send me a damn email letting me know for sure???? I'm still gonna keep on waiting. I just received an anonymous call this morning and seriously thought that was it. Damn cable company!

Theres always a possibility nobody on the forum got tickets :stunned:

It is all down to luck...

Madison Square Garden Tix

I was wondering, has anyone heard anything? I thought they were supposed to give the tickets out today? Has anyone heard anything... or maybe I'm being too anxious its only 11:15 in the morning... *sigh* I want to see them again so bad.
