The '42' Thread

well to give it a try, i think it´s just exactly about what he´s singing... maybe about friends/family members he had lost, but after all he recognized that they are not dead but rather in his head, which means that he remembers them and they are still part of his thoughts. this would fit the part where he sings, since i felt for that spell, i am living there as well.

to go even further, he can kind of communicate with them? or living with them in any kind? i mean realizing them in his daily life...?

and well when he sings that time is short and there must be something more, i think that´s clear. he could think of life after you die.... i think that is why chris said that you have to hear it before you die. perhaps since its such a strong song.

furthermore many people might think that they are very religious and strive to go to heaven but in the end they´ve just scratched the surface to actually reach that aim....you thought you might be a ghost/you didn't get to heaven but you made it close...

this is such a beautiful song i love it

does anybody know why my ipod isnt letting me put daahf on it

and sense i fell for that spell

I'm pretty sure he sings "And since I fell for that spell..."

i think they music is so good and the lyrics bring this song down. they aren't bad. they just repeat. its coldplay's live forever!

yeah they are repetitive but the lyrics are still geat

The "you didn't get to heaven" bit is perhaps one of the best things Coldplay has ever done. I cannot get over its incredibleness.

Not as "Epic" as I thought it was gonna be, but pretty darn close. I love it. I pretty much love every song on Viva lol. It's so good. I can't wait to drive around listening to it on full blast.

Yea when the preview of 42 was on Q's website, I was a little nervous, but that is actually the best part! I love how it goes from piano to rock and back to piano at the end. Very cool.

On the first listen out of all the tracks i have to say that 42 was my favorite!!Its my favorite on the new album i must say!!Love how it goes off into different sections!!And the lyrics are just awesome!!

42 might be my least favorite song on the album. i don't like the lyrics.

is it just me or does the song from 2:45 sound like Barely Legal by The Strokes?

As they said they are "the worst plagarizers"

At this moment my favorite album track, it's so perfect!!! I was one of the persons with high expectations for this song and it didn't disappointed me.

I really thought the song was going to be longer the way they were talking about it. It really gets spinning around and I love the tone and mood of the song once it gets whirling. The whole album moves by so quickly and this song is no exception.

I love the song... the beginning sounds like something muse would have made.

42 is the worse coldplay song ive ever heard no joke!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best, for sure....

Not keen on the intro, but everything from the climax on is just fantastic.
