this album hands down RELATIVELY FUCKING SUCKS....do i even hear buckland on this album? i cant stand reading 14 year old girls swoon over these songs...i'm a guy who loves good rock and i always take shit for telling other guys i like coldplay, but after this bullshit album i've had enough, buckland needs to man up and start rippin on his guitar...

Its a brilliant album and no I'm not 14 years old.

nope, it sucks sorry....like i said STEP IT UP BUCKLAND GET SOME BALLS

Maybe Jonny enjoys a different role? I think its nice to see the boys play a few different instruments it shows well rounded musicians. Music is always about rippin out power chords on the guitar, some of it is finess.

sorry Im not a 14 year old either but you do sound like a washed up 80s rocker....

yes i forgot to mention that in addition to the 14 year olds there are also the older goons who would think this is a "brilliant"album...it disappoints me to know that there are many coldplay fans out there that praise anything and everything they do....if they came out with an album that had only 1 song on it where chris martin is recorded taking a dump, all you people would say how brilliant and different it is...if they wanted to experiment they should have done it in the studio and left it alone...NOT try to sell it to the public and go around playing it at concerts....and i do love some 80s rock, U2 preferably...

That's just ridiculous. Ever heard of different taste? You have every right to say that you don't like the album at all, but why can't you respect people who do like it?

They made enough songs I didn't like, but on VLVODAHF there is not 1 song I don't like.

I agree with you that you shouldn't be a slave to the band and praise anything they release. I, for example, don't particularly like Life in Technicolour (songs without lyrics.. come on.. ?) and Chinese Sleap Chant. I also think Violett Hill missed the spot a bit, although I wouldn't deem it bad.

However, there are some songs that are genuinely good. I like the upbeat feal of Strawberry Swing. I like the moodiness and blackness of Yes. I also like the feeling of Lovers in Japan. I think this new sound works for them, although they haven't produced their Magnum Opus yet with this album.. They can do even better.

I can't even listen to half of X & Y anymore after this album. Some of X & Y seemed like a step in a terrible dance music direction. Then they came out with bullshit like Things I Don't Understand. This album is a step back in the right direction, and buckland does a fabulous job with some of his riffs.

Chinese Sleep Chant sounds like it came straight from In Rainbows, but it's nice to hear a soft Martin after a hard Martin in Yes.

I'm very very very worried about how this album will transfer live. Chris needs to sit down and control his voice and man the piano a little more. I hated the running around on the X & Y tour, and by some of the new live videos it doesn't look like that's gonna change. I saw a lot of background tracks rather than live musicianship on some of the newer live vids.

I think if any other band besides Coldplay put this album out as a debut album the critics would eat it up. But the boys made a very poor decision by hyping this album so much. They didn't need to call it a masterpiece before it hit any ears but their own. There was more than enough hype behind the album simply because they are who they are. I think if they didn't boast so much about changing their sound, this album would have been received a lot better.

In conclusion...it took me roughly 8 listens through the album to appreciate it. It's a fantastic album and it's much better than X & Y in my opinion, which contained some of Coldplay's worst songs ever.

Hey its been long since i last came to this forum. Anyways I'm still a hard core Coldplay fan, so anyone can help me where i can get these tracks? Thanks. Regards

I think 42 is one of the best songs they have written to date. I would put this album 2nd to AROBTTH

I'm listening to the new album but NO WAY IN HE*L is this close to Parachutes, AROBTTH or even X & Y. I guess I was in the minority and I loved X & Y. Swallowed In The Sea is in my top 3 favorite Coldplay songs of all time.

From my perspective, I have some issues with this new CD or how it was approached:

IMO, the true "Coldplay" sound is the stadium ballads:::::::Clocks, The Scientist, Amsterdam, etc. this is what Coldplay got famous from and this is what most of the serious fans love. I don't get this whole, "We didn't feel we needed to impress anyone" stuff and so now, we are to believe VLVODAAHF is the real/true Coldplay sound because they felt ininhibited in the past to not be their true selves when making music?

Chris talks about not getting commercialized but then why bring Brian Eno in to reinvent the sound. They never needed Eno in the past and were amazingly successful and then had some bad reviews of X & Y and were they feeling pressure to come out with something new and fabulous because of that?

How about going back to basics......just being happy with who you are, not overthinking everything and trying too hard. I like a few songs on VLV but ya know what? I listening right now to Live 2003, not the new CD.

There are some who will never say anything bad about the band or their music....somehow, by doing so, you are not as dedicated of a fan or something by some's standards.

I love the whole album. I'm not crazy about Cemeteries In London, it's my least favorite, but I still like it.

robins32, I agree with you 100%. This album sucks the wad! It is some of the most boring music I have ever heard. I have no problem with bands experimenting, trying something new, but c'mon this is baaaaad.

Brought me to tears too! I spent good money on this crap!!!

this album almost brought me too tears especially on reign of love:cry:(:embarassed:)...its absolutely amazing I loved every single minute of this album. Thankyou Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will!

I think this album is wonderful although a bit short.

I think it is amazing Viva La Vida is tremendous. I think the more you listen to Coldplay Albums you realize how unique they really are. I cannot wait to see them live in concert! For all you haters, there is nothing that could make me dislike COLDPLAY!

I spent ten dollars on it.

I actually think that VLVODAAHF is their best work to date. Why?

Equalizer settings.

I have an equalizer setting for each song in my iTunes; for the most part, each track on their previous albums works best under Rock.

For this album, it's so much more nuanced and other equalizer settings work better than Rock. With "Life in Technicolor" and "The Escapist", I'm using Electronic. For "Cemeteries of London" and "Lovers in Japan", I'm using Latin. For "Lost!", I'm using Dance. For "Strawberry Swing", I'm using Hip-Hop. It brings out the little things in each track that make all the difference in the world.

I feel like I still have to listen to the CD a couple of more times to either - appreciate it more, or to be able to truly tell if I love it or not. As of right now, it's a good album, but that's about it. Just good, but not one of their best ever. I do like how it is different, though. As for playing some of this stuff live, I did notice that Chris was having a hard time singing Viva la Vida live, and it could be pretty good, but he has to tighten it up a bit.. I don't know man, I still feel like I like AROBTTH best ..

I find it interesting to see that now people are saying that X&Y was not as great as they thought it was. I personally, didn't think it was THE best when it came out. And I liked the Y side better because it sounded more like their old stuff. I don't know why I feel like they are trying to hard so they can measure up - they are always saying their last album was crap and they need to make the next one better. I also agree that they don't need to hype it up so much.

I don't like how they said they would never do ads and it was always about the music, but nowadays, it doesn't seem like that anymore.. it seems like they are trying to push their album so hard.. they are on itunes commercials left and right.. they were never like that before. That puts so much more pressure on them.

All I have to say about this album is that it's a masterpiece. I bought it this morning and every time I stop listening to it, I want to hear it again! I realize that everyone has an opinion but it's another thing to denounce such beautiful music.

Great Job guys!!

I have to give it a few more listens, just like I had to with the other Coldplay albums before I really, really appreciated them.

I know that at the moment though, right now, it IS a pretty good album. We'll see though :)

I'm surprised to hear that some of you aren't liking the album. I was only a very casual Coldplay fan until this album. I love pretty much every song on the album bar 1 (Reign of Love). It's their best work, in my opinion.

I always thought that A rush of Blood to the Head was my favorite Coldplay album. But now I think Viva La Vida has taken the number one spot. This album is simply beautiful. Every single note was constructed beautifully and they are really turning out to be one of the most influential bands of our time.
