December 18, 200916 yr i've been listening to beautiful boy lately... i found it kind of sad especially with the line "i can hardly wait, to see you come of age. but i guess we'll both just have to be patient." It's sad just to know that shortly after the album was released he was murdered and would never get to see this happen w/ his son
August 1, 201015 yr Author John Lennon's 70th birthday to be marked with time capsule ceremony Fans are being invited to submit birthday wishes and personal thoughts for special project John Lennon's 70th birthday is set to be marked with a special time capsule ceremony which will see his post-Beatles recordings preserved until 2040. Fans are also being invited to submit birthday wishes, commentary, musical performances and personal thoughts on the late singer's legacy over the next couple of months for The John Lennon Time Capsule project. "I am delighted to support this effort to help share John's music and messages of peace and love with the children of today and tomorrow," said his widow Yoko Ono. "I know that John's work, life and dreams will help inspire them to bring a better world for everyone. Children Power!" The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Museum in Ohio will host a time capsule dedication ceremony on October 8. The capsule will be preserved and stored there until it are opened in a ceremony on Lennon's 100th birthday – October 9, 2040. Two other capsules will be stored in in additional worldwide locations. Fore more information go to http://www.BoxOfVision.com. In the past Ono has buried similar capsules at a 'light tower' in Iceland dedicated to the late singer. http://www.nme.com/news/john-lennon/52282
August 1, 201015 yr I find the idea of time capsules to be silly in this day and age. We do such a good job preserving stuff in museums that I don't understand the point of burying it. But whatever.
August 1, 201015 yr Yeah, it may look a little odd in 30 years when CD's are probably gone  Stil :wacky:
September 18, 201015 yr Author John Lennon's murderer Mark Chapman reveals motive behind fatal shooting 'I felt that by killing him I would become somebody,' he says John Lennon's killer Mark Chapman has explained why he fatally shot the former Beatle in 1980. Chapman, 55, who has been incarcerated at Attica Correctional Facility in New York state since being convicted of Lennon's murder in 1981, told the parole board about his reasons for the shooting, reports BBC News. "I wasn't thinking clearly," Chapman said, according to a published transcript of the interview. "I made a horrible decision to end another human being's life, for reasons of selfishness." He added: "I felt that by killing John Lennon I would become somebody and instead of that I became a murderer, and murderers are not somebodies." Chapman also told the parole board that he had drawn up a list of people he wanted to kill. Lennon was top, with actress Elizabeth Taylor and talk show host Johnny Carson also included. In prison, Chapman works as a porter and a clerk in the law library. He was denied parole for the sixth time earlier this month. http://www.nme.com
September 18, 201015 yr 'I felt that by killing him I would become somebody,' he says Well if his intention was for everyone to know his name, he definitely got that wish.:(
September 18, 201015 yr it's terrible that he murdered him just to be known around the world. What also makes it terrible was that Lennon was just coming back from a semi-musical retirement and he was so optimistic for the future. If I was Chapman I wouldn't bother to try and get out. At this point in time jail is the safest place for him, if he ever did get out (which I seriously doubt would happen), I'm sure a bunch of people would go after him.
September 18, 201015 yr I think it's eerie what john said in an interview. the interviewer asked how do you expect to die and he responded "I'll probably be popped off by some loony.
September 18, 201015 yr it's terrible that he murdered him just to be known around the world. What also makes it terrible was that Lennon was just coming back from a semi-musical retirement and he was so optimistic for the future :( All the music he would have written...
September 29, 201015 yr been obsessed with this song.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYLdmi_U99w]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYLdmi_U99w[/ame] honestly one of the best and most underrated Lennon solo tunes.
September 29, 201015 yr Dunno if anyone knows but this month Q issue (on sale in a few days) is special issue about John ^^ http://covers.q4music.com/Item.aspx?pageNo=6161&year=2010
September 29, 201015 yr I'll have to get that. Uncut is doing something similair, I like them better.
October 6, 201015 yr I bought the new Double Fantasy-Stripped Down... it's quite good! I'd recommend getting it. It's almost like hearing Lennon record the album right then and there especially being so used to the regular version. Only problem is it's slightly pricey since it's 2 cds (stripped down, and regular)
