John Lennon RIP 25 years later...

^ a very nice retrospective on the man, the legend, the peace lover. I can't believe its been 25 years!! I remember the day exactly when I saw it on the news. I didn't have a true and full appreciation for the man and his musical impact on the world.. I was only 4 yrs. old. But seeing the images of people croweded outside his apartment in the city, and in Central Park that night on the news... it was impressive.

R.I.P. John Ono Lennon. 25 years on since he was murdered, may John rest in peace knowing that McFly haven't covered one of his tracks yet.

Also may him rest, in the knowledge that so many new bands are still influnced by Lennon

25 years...

I'm just 18...

but he was a great musician.. one of the best musicians ever....

the great John Lennon

so beautiful songs...

To think what John Lennon did in his lifetime and the impact he had on the musical world as we know it, it's mindblowing. I just can't comprehend how in just one small moment, everything changes and he's dead. All that talent, gone. It's extremely sad. Rest in Peace John.

well, i just can say that i was born 11 years after his death, but his music (with or without the Beatles) was, is and will be wonderful forever...

At 10:50 PM, Eastern time, I'll be honoring a 10 minute moment of silence in memory of this great, great man. I can't fully describe the impact John Lennon has had on my life. The morals that he's helped shape for me. What I've gained as a person from learning of his life experiences. I just can't fully articulate that.

I did, however, recently write something in my journal that I truly believe in. If you want, you can read it:

"I had a horrible day dream/nightmare at the [u2] concert. Envisioning something horrible happening to Bono as he spoke of AIDS awareness. As he spoke of John.

I never want something like that to happen. To anyone. Not anymore. I don't want people to die by violence. That's not what we're here on earth for. We're not here to die, we're here to live, aren't we? All prescribed values pushed to the sides, we are not on this planet to kill. And it has to stop. I refuse to have children, and I never will, as long as there is violence in this world. This isn't political (as so many misconcieved John's message, although elements were). This is a social change we need. Instead of embracing the violence in things, the strange lust we feel when we see the color red, or a car in flames, we need to embrace new values. Values that make us all care about our neighbors, no matter how far away these neighbors live. Make us work for them, and them work for us. Values that teach us not to have such random hate applied to faceless strangers. Values that take us away from guns, and bombs, and fire, and knives, and chemical weapons.

It would be a better world. John Lennon would live on. He's dead right now. Nothing he preached worked. It worked for some of us, to apply to our personal lives. However, unless things are realised on a greater, higher level, John Lennon's true message will remain scattered like his body's ashes.

John Lennon said that he was a violent man, who learned how not to be violent. If only we could all do this. He was, in essence, a living, breathing analogy to this world's problems. Someone who struggled with his inner demons all his life. Did so much wrong. Finally got his act together and started to repent for his past behavior, his past anger. Became a true father, a true husband, a true, full human being. Just as this is happening, he's shot dead.

Why are the most peaceful of us taken by such violence? MLK. John Lennon. Mahatma Gandhi. Marla Ruzicka. The list can go on and on.

I don't want anymore names added to that list. I can't stand to see it grow any longer. Every day someone is killed in violence. When is something going to give? What is it going to take to make us realise how wrong we are?

What more, in the name of love?"

Rest in peace John. A true legend.

i hope this thread never been posted before and im certain that people knows about this person. well, i am huge fan of him really though im only 15 and recently i just read his book"John Lennon, My Brother" written by Julia Baird (his sister) with Geoffrey Giuliano which contains about his personal life until he was shot by people who was from hawaii (mark chapman) and that was the saddest one. i feel like i want to meet him right now, even i can only say "john, you are a hero for this world, we really need you "

He was a hell of a funny guy. Can't think of any examples right now, but search YouTube for interviews with him. Hilarious.

no doubt that he had influenced many people, a whole generation.... but honestly i doubt that he would agree with many things that people do those days :uhoh:

great musician btw

yeah, for me he is by far my most influencial/favorite musician of all time. I was actually able to go to strawberry fields on the 25th anniversary from his death (since i don't live far from there), and it was both amazing to see how many people showed up but also upsetting to know that he is dead.

hmm well... im looking for john lennon's book in pdf downloads or maybe some kind of charity sites.. is there any kinds of sites?

i only got like this
