The discussion amongst many of us towards the end of the season was that his form had dipped so alarmingly that it was best for him to go and spend another period on loan like he did with Blackpool. Admittedly there was the odd (just the odd mind) delusional idiot who said 'he reminded me of Gerrard when he was 21' which is laughable to say the least. I think it's a great move for him. He'll get more opportunities at Swansea and will probably be able to develop greater there rather than see his opportunities limited. He's got a lot of work to do on the technical side of his game - first touch and possession wise he was a liability at times. But he's a good player who has strength and aggression and like you said he has decent potential. 5 million is a fair price for him so no complaints there at all. Hope he does really well at Swansea. It's generalizing but I've known a LOT of Liverpool fans who seem completely biased and deluded, both in Ireland and England, and that with a mixture of football phone-in shows didn't make me think otherwise. Also what comes with this is a complete bias against anything involving Man U, and feeling that clubs success is 100% down to corruption etc. I mean as I said, I'm not saying every Liverpool fan is like that, it's just personal experience, and I should add that the worst Newcastle fans are far, far bigger idiots than any football fans, but they are a small minority.

Rooney, 27, has expressed his disappointment to senior figures at the club and insisted he would not accept a squad role behind Robin van Persie. The England forward has two years left on his contract with United. He has been linked with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal. Woodward said: "There are no contract renewals that are being discussed. I am not sitting down with any player on an extension and there is no trigger date in the diary. "Would we be afraid to run a contract down? Of course not." Rooney believes he has nothing left to prove at United after nine successful seasons and has held talks to make that point to club officials since returning early from the pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East with a hamstring injury.
