June 12, 200818 yr this is a joookee. they gave 3.5/5 to "under my skin"-Avril Lavigne  http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/6041348/review/6054703?utm_source=Rhapsody&utm_medium=CDreview they also gave 3.5/5 to "Blackout" and "Oops!...I Did It Again"???? Britney spears???? http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/17046611/review/17118068/blackout http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/321762/review/5941004?utm_source=Rhapsody&utm_medium=CDreview
June 12, 200818 yr lol again, I hope Chris isn't reading all of these... he'll call VLV shit in 5..4....3...
June 12, 200818 yr I can't believe that Lil Wayne got a higher rating than Viva La Vida. Rolling Stone has officially lost all my respect as a credible source for music reviews...Lil Wayne is garbage...I can freestyle better than he can (and I'm white!). My friends and I put on his album as a JOKE. It was honestly the worst 'music' I've heard in my life. Someone who raps at the beginning of his song in a robot voice "I am not like you/I am a martian" is considered a lyrical genius and Coldplay is bashed? WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?? THE APOCALYPSE IS NIGH!!
June 12, 200818 yr most people are intellectually capable of forming their own opinions about music. i dont understand why people read reviews. anyway i only look at RS for the interviews and pictures...
June 12, 200818 yr ^ mere human curiousity i would never let a review dictate whether i buy an album or not - reviewers appeal to those few intellectually incapable people
June 12, 200818 yr ^ mere human curiousity i would never let a review dictate whether i buy an album or not - reviewers appeal to those few intellectually incapable people Reviews are ONLY good if you want something to wet your appetite. Like if you haven't heard anything about the album, and you want to read ANYTHING about it. Problem is, in this internet age, most albums leak. So must of us have heard the album already and have our opinions formed before the review comes out. So regardless of what a critic says, we will either strongly agree or disagree with them. But like you said, it really comes down to what YOU think. Anyone that actually looks to reviewers to make up their mind for them is sad. Now, the only reason i DO care what a critic says, is because I want the band to be as successful as possible. Sometimes bad reviews can mean bad sales. I want the best for Coldplay. :)
June 12, 200818 yr Guys we are just going to HAVE to face the truth here... WE have better taste in music. nuff said
June 12, 200818 yr Obviously there is a boicott to coldplay they put lil wayne 4.5 and coldplay 3.5 for a reason. they dont want coldplay to get bigger now i dont want to read more reviews.
June 12, 200818 yr 3.5 / 5 ... WHAT? Are you on crack Rolling Stone? That's just a little bit better than X & Y... Agree on that Death Cab For Cutie comparison!
June 12, 200818 yr it makes sense rolling stone gave A Rush 4 stars and X and Y 3 stars..i know personally that i put this album right in the middle of those two also

Well Lil Wayne is a rap album, Coldplay is a rock album. You can't compare those two, lol Maybe Lil wayne's album is great in terms of a rap perspective

June 12, 200818 yr Hmm I kinda expected 3.5 for some reason. Don't get me wrong its got some killer stuff on it, probably my second favorite album as far as individual tracks go, but I don't think its as big as we anticipated it to be. And I'm guessing the Rolling Stone review will say something similar about their expectations. Although X&Y is clearly the most lacking of the four albums, we anticipated it just as much as Viva and we were kind of overwhelmed by the band's change in sound. The good thing is they got SO much better at working on a new way of presenting their musical style. This album turned out to be something really special in terms of finding another fresh start musically. LP5 will most likely be a combination of the enormous soaring sounds from Viva mixed with the right dose of rocking simplicity and baby making music of AROBTTH. Oh and I'm hoping Eno returns, I love his work. :D
June 12, 200818 yr I'm just soo curious to see why they gave the album 3.5 stars... I hope it's a good reason if not Rolling Stone is going to lose my respect as serious reviewers. Britney Spears album as good as Viva la Vida?? Those guys must be deaf!! Lately all the critics have gone berserk, I was so angry when Amy Winehouse won 5 grammys.

June 15, 200818 yr A link to the review. By the way, totally rediculous that they only gave the album a lesser rating because of its ambiguous political leanings. Reviews should be about the music! http://www.rollingstone.com/reviews/album/21236751/review/21256424/viva_la_vida_or_death_and_all_his_friends
June 15, 200818 yr The reviewer is still pissy Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race, probably. "If only she had stayed in a little longer... Obama might have forfeited! I'll let my anger out in this Coldplay review."
June 15, 200818 yr Hey, ApproximatelyInfinite "And that was the day I was nearly murdered by a sheep." -Jonathan Mark Buckland What is that quote about???
