Overrated - Yellow

Underrated: The Hardest Part comes to mind.

Here we go again...How come Yellow is so hated now? Its a classic, explain this to me again somebody...

Don't get me wrong, I love Yellow, but it's one of those songs that is given more credit than it needs, or it's too popular among celebrities *cough*Britney*cough* OR it's the only known Coldplay song to some. So when random non-CPers think of Coldplay, usually Yellow automatically comes to mind. However, there are other songs just as good, undiscovered by them.

 

It just depends what your definition for overrated is. If I'm being personal, then to me it's not overrated. But generally speaking, it is overrated "out there."

Overrated: Speed of Sound

Underrated: Green Eyes (How can someone not love that song?! I really love Chris' voice in this song.) :stunned:

first of all, how can everyone so avidly hate on "Fix You"? I love it, its one of my favorite songs ever. What is so bad about it, please can someone explain this to me?

 

 

 

Anyway, I have to list a few

 

Overrated: Trouble, Clocks (just barely), White Shadows, Talk (I would also say What If but I dont think anyone really loves it that much)

 

Underrated: Spies, Sparks, FIX YOU, Hardest Part, Swallowed in the Sea, Life Is For Living, Amsterdam, See You Soon, A Whisper

I love Fix You. It's one of my favorite songs. But, I just think it's overrated because it use to be played every 5 minutes everywhere. *shrugs* i unno, I don't hate it though. See I wasnt a CP fan back when X&Y first came out, so I dont know how much it was played.

but now the only bit I like is the middle 8.

the "Slowly breaking through the daylight" bit, the rest drags itself along.

JD, I'm disappointed. I usually find myself agreeing with you, but not this time. Daylight is one of my faves off AROBTTH!

 

I think some people are getting Overrated confused with Overplayed. Fix You and Yellow are both great songs - not my favourites, but better than most of the rubbish that's out there. It's just that they've been played on absolutely everything - I think that's probably why Chris chose to sing Fix You on Extras.

 

That scene wouldn't have worked so well if he'd launched in to Clocks

i like what if. over rated is definitely yellow though. i changed my mind.
