WEDDING MUSIC PLEASE HELP!

Featured Replies

It's Strawberry Swing, no contest. Just look at the lyrics:

They were sitting

They were sitting on the strawberry swing

Every moment was so precious

They were sitting

They were talking under strawberry swing

Everybody was for fighting

Wouldn't wanna waste a thing

Cold, cold water, bring me round

Now my feet won't touch the ground

Cold, cold water, what you say

When it's such, it's such a perfect day

Such a perfect day

I remember we were walking up to strawberry swing

I can't wait until the morning

Wouldn't wanna change a thing

People moving all the time

Inside a perfectly straight line

Don't you wanna just curve away?

When it's such, it's such a perfect day

It's such a perfect day

[Hey, you said you were curvy]

Now the sky could be blue I don't mind

Without you, it's a waste of time

Could be blue I don't mind

Without you, it's a waste of sky

Could be blue, could be grey

Without you I'm just miles away

Could be blue I don't mind

Without you it's a waste of time

And you can even think of "Strawberry Swing" as a metaphor for the marriage, or something.

It's certainly the "happiest" Coldplay song that I know of (though my memory could be faulty), and you want your wedding to be happy, right? ;)

I personally think marriage is a waste of time, but there you go!!

it has its advantages :D

There's been a lot of good suggestions so far. "Green Eyes", definitely, but only if one of you actually has green eyes. "Proof" would possibly work. Certainly "Til Kingdom Come" would work lyrics-wise. I think you could even use the entirety of "Death and All His Friends" (just cut out the "The Escapist" bit). The only downside is that the ending bit (where the male choir comes in) sounds (to me anyway) like it's in 7/4 time, which would be ridiculous to try to dance to, so maybe I'm wrong. "A Message" would be fine, same for "Swallowed in the Sea" or even "Warning Sign", maybe. Or "Amsterdam" with the whole "Stood on the edge tied to a noose, but you came along and you cut me loose" thing. Someone suggested "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face"...I don't think lyrically that works at all. And yeah, if all else fails, there's always "Fix You".

Good luck and congratulations!

that's what i'd like to know.

Then let's hope we get a response.;)

ok everbody , thanks so much for all your suggestions they have been brilliant and so much to choose from. we have decided on the following:

Gravity whilst guests are being seated.

Parachutes as I walk in with my dad.

Yellow as our first dance song.

Coldplay overload - never!

The only thing I have a problem with is I brought the talk single with Gravity on it, but it is a DVD version, and I cant copy it so I can put it on a CD with the rest of the ceremony songs for the registrar to authorise. we are seeing them tommorow and I am supposed to have this done, does anyone have a quality copy of this they can email me in MP3 at all? My email is on my profile. Many thanks

Wooow!!!

I really like the choices you've done!!!

Any Coldplay song will sound great! I'm sure about that ;)!

Congratulations and I hope it'll be an excelent day!!!

Strawberry swing

sparks. i say that cause of wedding crashers. I love when i hear coldplay in movies, it was the only reason i watched it to that part.

but yeah sparks for the wedding, real chill, and romantic.

fix you is a good funeral song

In the Sun by Joseph Arthur,

Yes, yes, YES!

One of my all time favourite songs, though the original is better

it's possibly , I think, the greatest song ever written.

plus, it gets used in scrubs, BONUS POINTS

just met the whole cast of scrubs down in the bahammas. theyre shooting down there.

Im a bit curious as to what other music you are using.

My wife and I danced to Green Eyes as our "First Dance". It was nice because most people there thought it was a slow song but we got a big cheer when it sped (I somehow managed to spin her with out messing it up too - and I'm a clutz!).

Till Kingdom Come is obviously another candidate, and you could probably get away with The Hardest Part during dinner. An acoustic version of A Message is always nice too (there is one from a Toronto Radio show you should get your hands on). Strawberry Swing would be great too.... It's such a perfect day.... wish that song was out at the time of our wedding.

Wedding Song?

I showed my friend the song Gravity the other day, and she told me how she liked it and thought it would be a good "first dance" song at a wedding. It got me thinking, are there any Coldplay songs out there you would want played at your wedding, say for a first dance?

^^great choice for vows...

^yes there was, Im trying to find it but I cant.

Look for it, there are some great songs there, that some people already used as wedding songs.

I would say... The Scientist, Life is for Livin', and for an up tempo one... One I Love!
