  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Hey,is this the thread where i can ask oracle?then i'll ask, will coldplay ever come to russia?cfause i know they will never come to uzbekistan, but there ar too many fans in russia,so maybe there is chance for them...

The Oracle replies:

I think you should be able to find Chris easily here. That should help you find him in the film. Jonny on the other hand... I haven't seen it for ages and there's no photo (apart from Zombie Aid spoof from the end).

I've spotted him in two scenes in SotD actually :smug: Once when Shaun and Liz just get out of the pub and another when Shaun's flicking the fuse switch on for the TV and then flicks the outdoors light out of curiosity, Chris is at the door sort of running into it

I haven't spotted Jonny though, he's very hard to find.

why does he have brown hair in that pic though

Because blonde hair can have brownish roots and then grow out more blonde, and Chris has this type of blonde color

Q. Hello Oracle!

Is Viva la Hova a real collaboration between Jay-Z and Coldplay? Or is it just a remix album made by a random guy??

The Oracle replies:

It's the brainchild of mash up mixtape producers Mick Boogie and Terry Urban who enlisted other producers to come in and work a track each. Chris hasnt actually heard it as you can see here but the results have been warmly received by the band & Jay Zs camp, so a thumbs-up all round.

Q. We've been to 2 (3 next week) concerts and are always curious...what is it in Chris' cup that he always drinks?

The Oracle replies:

It's basically hot water with ginger, honey and lemon.

Although in both scenes there are persons who look like him, I don't think he's in either one of those :P

Q. Just curious, what did each band member do for work before they became Coldplay?

The Oracle replies:

Their only jobs were various part-time jobs while they studied. They were all at University when they met and formed Coldplay. They were still there when they got offered their record deal.

Q. Where could i get the same shirt that Chris Martin wears? The white shirt with the red V on the side? It would be awesome if you answered <3

The Oracle replies:

It's not shop bought that way so all you have to do is find a similar off white tee, then customize it with spray paint that's suitable for material (and permanent so that you can wash the garment).

To the person who asked the same question but mistook the V for a heart or a tick, consider this the answer to your Q too!

Q. Good morning oracle,

could you explain how one can create a clickable link into ones' e-mails? I already tried googling it, but can't find entries that I could follow. I've seen you doing it, so I thought you can help out. Thanks a lot!

The Oracle replies:

It depends on the admin system and doesn't necessarily work in emails. A common one that I use here and on MySpace is this.

I can't actually type it, as it will just appear as the clickable link!

Q. hello my dearest oracle!

my questin is quite simple: dont you think that you and your mates put to much LOST videos in your youtube favorites? you really like them all? i think you should be a bit more pickie!

thx for your answer man!

:D

The Oracle replies:

Hey Al, how's the White Rabbit? We want everyone to have the chance to be seen. There's clearly been a lot of time and effort spent on these videos and it would be a shame if they didn't have the same platform as each other. Not long to go now...

Q. Hey Oracle,

I noticed that you didn't answer all the questions I've ever asked (about 5 or something) and I'm asking myself how many questions you get per day and whether you answer them all.

And as third question, do you read all the questions or is there a filter or something like that?

Regards from Germany,

David

The Oracle replies:

No filter David, just me. Here are a few quick points. I don't discriminate individuals or where they're from. I read every single question and so far we're up to 21,530. I aim to answer 2 or 3 per day (except weekends).

I don't answer any that have already been answered or any that ask, "when are the band playing near me?" - take note the Turkish millions who send messages everyday stating that Turkey are waiting and asking, "what are Coldplay waiting for?"... waste of your time!

I don't pay close attention to who is asking so have no idea if I have answered anyone more than once or ignored anybody several times.

The key is, ask something interesting and original that other fans/people may want to know and keep trying! Who knows, I may get round to you all eventually!

Q. Hi!

I saw on a website that Chris wanted to stop the musique at 33. :(

Is that true??

The Oracle replies:

I wouldn't say ignore everything you read in the press per se but I would advise you to take many things Chris says with a pinch of salt. Of course when he says things like this it makes a big news headline, but the actual truth is Chris doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna be done when he's 33, he's making the point that he doesn't think they'll have much of a place when they're old men! That's a long time off and who knows how they'll feel along that journey? Don't take everything you hear to literally, sometimes it's a moment in time and nothing more.

Q. If the guys of Coldplay were to go out to a karaoke bar, what songs would they belt out?

The Oracle replies:

Guy and Jonny never do Karaoke. Chris doesn't really have a favourite as he rarely does it these days. Will - the trooper- most commonly sings Louis Armstrong or Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I am the mother of 3 little boys (7,5,4) over the weekend we went to visit my 95 year old grandfather who is very ill in the hospital. My 5 year old decided he wanted to tell a joke to "cheer papa up" so he started "Papa, Why did the vampire cry?" (I was thinking... he had a bitemare) but my little angel said "cuz somebody kicked him in the nuts!" I ask Oracle what does this say of me as a mother? It did definitely "cheer" everyone up.

The Oracle replies:

Ha ha ha ha! Thank you for making me laugh! That's brilliant! Of course I empathize with your shame as you think it reflects badly on you but remember, not everything he repeats is going to be things he's heard from you so rest assured, not everyone will think you have a potty mouth!

There's a saying you may be familiar with that originates from the bible. 'Out of the mouth of babes' and it refers to when children speak words of wisdom at an early age, I think we can say that of your 5 year old, as he's perfectly right of course, that would make a Vampire cry! By the way, I quite like your Bitemare answer too!

Q. im visiting london this weekend, is there a not very famous but still interesting place that you could recomment me to go? if it is realted some how to coldplay, even better!

many thanks! x

The Oracle replies:

Camden is famous but still a great place to visit and Coldplay played their first gig there. The place has closed down but you can still see it. The Laurel Tree (Greenland Street) was a pretty cool venue. You can see the interior on our Timeline - Jan 1998. Other venues they have played in Camden include: Camden Falcon (also closed down), Dingwalls, The Monarch and KOKO.

There's also Camden Markets as well as many cool places to shop, eat and visit.

Q. Dear Oracle,

Why does the band refer to Will as "the frightening one"?

The Oracle replies:

He's not frightening but Will does have a very sensible head on his shoulder and when it comes to making band decisions he's really good at putting valid points across and keeping everyone focused. He frequently has the casting vote and his decision can sometimes override the consensus!

Q. hello oracle!!

my question is: In the game of the glass of water, how can I ask the qustion??? I have tried many times but I just can't... thanks

The Oracle replies:

It's a game that's meant to be a bit of fun so you think of a question and can then say it out loud or in your head. There's no other means of actually asking a question.

Q. I now hate Coldplay because of this video competition.

You post videos by people who are in the film/media business.

You play favorites by featuring some videos and allowing them to get plays automatically--so they have thousands of plays more than everybody else.

Some videos are on here twice.

The ratings and the number of plays can be manipulated by people (and their friends and families) and are effected by how long a video has been on youtube--those features should be turned off for this contest.

It's all very unfair and competitive--ugly really.

It appeals to the worst in people.

Good job Coldplay.

Enjoy all that money.

I hate you now.

Tree

The Oracle replies:

Charming! Look, I am going to have to respond to this. People take heed! The competition is meant to be a fun thing but one can't help notice the bitterness that has arisen.

Surely people are not under the illusion that ratings and views are what are being judged? If we're loving a video, we share that with you guys so you can see some of the amazing entries.

We are looking for original, great videos, simple as that. Would you have preferred a clause saying "only open to anyone has never operated a camera before"? Nowhere in the rules does it say that professional media types can't enter and that's not fair to fans of the band that just happen to know how to make a film. Some people have made up production names for this event and have done brilliantly.

I feel now would be a great time to mention one stand out video that's highlighted today from someone who didn't think their video was that good. In their humility they couldn't be more wrong it's great! There have been videos from 16-year-old students that are of higher calibre than some professionals so it really shouldn't matter. We're not the least bit interested in "who" has sent them, but what they have sent.

If they appear more than twice that is actually due to YouTube's favourite heart not remaining red once it's been clicked. The team has watched ALL the videos and sometimes more than one person has clicked the favourite. Every single video (as long as they don't offend or breach any t&c's) has been added to the favourites.

Don't forget as mentioned in the rules, a team is selecting the best videos for the band to choose an overall winner from, so it doesn't matter how many of your family, friends or pets you get to rate or view as the team has seen them all.

I do sincerely hope your hate is reactionary and that it will pass. Hate will eat you up. Unless of course you submitted a video and actually that's what the issue is?

Q. Q.I saw you answered that once before, so I tried my luck : I've got a small white dog, who is already called Gad but we want to find a second name for him, do you have some ideas ?

The Oracle replies:

All I can think of is About. Gadabout means to go in search of pleasure and maybe Gad already does that?

I know that's not a name as such but there's also a character called Sir Gadabout so there's a bit of nobility to it if you wish.

Q. What ever happened to the globe on the cover of parachutes? I know the band took it on tour with them, but where is it now?

They're all in storage. I say "all" because there wasn't just one globe lamp, there were several.

Q. Does Coldpaly's original or current manager also have a child named Apple?

Little bit of trivia but it's actually their booking agent in the U.S and that's where Chris first heard of the name.

Q. Hey you basically already answered this question, but there has been a lot of news circulating about Chris' comment on the band breaking up after 2009. NME took their page down, but all the other sites seem really ligit. Are you really sure he was joking? It would be sad to see them break up in the middle of their peak, let alone at all! :(

The Oracle replies:

Remember, to the media this is newsworthy. If people are going to sell more papers or get more hits on their websites by reporting it, they will. They can take him literally if they like, but there isn't a calendar with a split date circled!

Q. hey going to my first coldplay concert was wondering do they allow video cameras? i see some of the concerts on tape on youtube. thanks reply asap please.

The Oracle replies:

No, you're not allowed to take any professional cameras of any kind into the venue. It usually says on the back of the ticket. These days so many phones have decent cameras and video capabilities; it's usually ok to use those.

Q. 1)...Agh come on! please be in Birmingham in January... I'm coming from Barcelona (Spain) to do some practics in a primary school. I'm studying Teacher Training of English (for my country) And I've seen you'll be there in December... what about a private concert for me?? lol

2) I'm planning a weekend trip to London during the time I'll be there, I really love musicals. What do you recommend me best: Phantom of the Opera (I'm a big Andrew Lloyd Webber fan, specially of Cats) or Wicked? As I'll be in Birmingham only a month (from 11th Jan to 6 feb) I'd love to see something worth seing and paying for ('cos they are expensive!!!)

By the way Mr Oracle, tell the lead singer that he's very good looking and he's got lovely eyes (I bet he already knows)

If you're wandering why I write so much...because I'm bored at this very moment and don't want to work on the project handout of my practics at schools...;P

See ya and "brake a leg"!

PS: my name is Laura and I'm 26yrs old.

The Oracle replies:

As you say, they'll have played Birmingham (U.K) in December so the chances of them playing again in January are... nil!

Go see Phantom of the Opera, it's awesome and as you're a fan of Lloyd Webber it won't disappoint!

Q. You're a great bastards because people who buied the first version of your last album viva la vida now they can't spent other 20€ for the new limited edition...why are you so bad???????

The Oracle replies:

Blimey Luis chill your boots! Maybe it would be a good idea to check your facts before you come bargin' in here shouting the odds! You DO NOT have to buy the special edition album; you can buy the E.P on its own.

And by the way, loads of other artists are gearing up for their "Deluxe" version of previously released albums for Christmas so there's something to be thankful for, we're not doing that!

God, why are people so fucking rude with their Oracle questions?!

And why are so many people oblivious to the fact that you can buy the EP separately? All of the reviews have been whining on about the same thing as well- "it's a business ploy, you have to buy the album again"... No, you don't!

Q. Hi Oracle!

I am thinking of buying a new bird after my last one passed away and I would like to give him a musical name, my last bird was called "Toto", do you have any suggestions?

The Oracle replies:

Do you know the term Fermata? Literally it means closed but it refers to holding a note for as long as you like. The slang term used for this is actually bird's eye, so Fermata would work but I prefer Lyre. I hope the bird wouldn't think you meant Liar and take offence.

Anyway, a lyre is an instrument but it is also the name of a phenomenal bird that can imitate ANYTHING! [ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WuFyqzerHS8]See[/ame] for yourself and prepare to be amazed. Either of those names will possibly make you look like a know-it-all to your mates, but nowt wrong with that I find!

If your last bird was Toto (which is also the name of an American soft rock band), you could always plump for Eagle?
