  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

CRICKET?!

lol Chris, at least get in and play hockey, a man's sport. :D

he played "hockey" at uni, i think he was the captain of some sort of intramural team :D

(bear in mind the term "hockey" in the UK automatically means what we call FIELD hockey...but it's close!)

Yeee, that was my question :drummer:

I find cricket amusing, but only because we're sooooooooo bad at it

Is fun to watch your countrymen fail so spectacularly :P

Q. I'm not sure if you've been asked this before, because I haven't seen it answered yet. I read an interview with Chris where he was asking about contestants on the X Factor. I've heard about contestants singing Coldplay songs, but never in the entire time that American Idol has been on, have I heard a Coldplay song attempted. Is there a reason behind this, or do you think the contestants know that you can't build upon perfection.

Thanks!!

The Oracle replies:

I bet we hear someone next season! Brooke White performed Yellow on the American Idol tour. I wasn't a big fan of Brooke (I don't think you should be allowed to audition if you've already had a deal) but credit where it's due, her version is actually good (better than the annoying*, over-rated* Diana Vickers murdering it on X Factor a few weeks ago!) It's on her album... yes she got another deal. Pfft some people struggle to even get ONE!

*That's my personal opinion...

Q. PLEASE PLEASE ANSWER!!!

Dear Oracle,

I entered my video about 6 days ago into the competition. I did my video on the homeless and it may not look like it but it took me weeks to get it the way I wanted it. Well others must of liked my idea too because a few of them completely took my idea and copied me! I don't want to sound bitter but there is something upsetting about working so hard on coming up with an idea and working weeks on something and then having someone taking it from you. I know it could be a coincidence but it seems odd that no one had done anything like mine and then just days after mine is up...these copy cats start appearing. I guess I just want some advice. Even though I have given up on winning...I will continue to love and listen to Coldplay. Please know I'm not bitter, maybe just heartbroken.

The Oracle replies:

I don't mean to sound rude but I doubt that anyone ripped 'your' idea off. Given the title of the song is Lost? it's likely that many people also thought about the homeless feeling hopeless. There have been many submissions featuring similar images and themes to one another: graves, suicidal feelings and forests so I really don't think you should worry any longer.

Q. In the live shows Which side of the arena (facing the stage) do coldplay play the acoustic session?. I hope its the right please say its the right. Tho don't lie if its not.

The Oracle replies:

I don't tell lies Brian! Though I have been known to bend the truth for the benefit of others. I'm afraid that so far the acoustic session has been on the left as you face the stage.

Q. I really want to go to the Coldplay concert in Melbourne on March 4 but my dad says I am to young to go. I'm 13 and you are my favourite band. What do you suggest I do?

The Oracle replies:

Can't you find an older aunt, uncle or any relative/friend of the family who would be willing to escort you? I do agree that 13 is a little young to go on your own or with a friend of that age, but personally I don't think you're too young to experience the show, we've had toddlers attending! As you know though, Dad will have the final word so what he says must be obeyed!

Q. What's the hardest question you've been asked on here?

The Oracle replies:

I reckon the hardest was one you actually asked me earlier: "Do you believe that when people die you stay on Earth trying to solve unsolved issues and then your spirit flies free? "

I have always believed in some form of afterlife and it makes sense to stick around until you're at peace but if so there must be zillions of souls drifting around that don't solve their issues. It would be very crowded wouldn't it?

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I love how many people from all over the world are getting in touch, so hello Honduras! Yesterday I read so many from almost every part of the globe it was fantastic!

Q. Hello Oracle. I'd like to know, what is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Thanks,

Bennett

The Oracle replies:

We don't do Thanksgiving over here. I mean we give thanks but we don't celebrate Thanksgiving. I have never been in the States during this time either but my friend Quinn who lives in the U.K he tells me he's having the works, "turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce", which sounds pretty much the same as what I'll be having on Christmas Day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the dudes and dudettes from across the pond!

Q. Dear Oracle, I am going to turn 21 in a month. I was wondering if you could tell what my frist drink should be? I'm thinking about wine. What is your favorite drink?

The Oracle replies:

Ooh have a glass of Champagne. It's the perfect drink to celebrate your coming of age. Personally I drink it on any occasion, not just for special ones, it is my favourite drink of all time. Perhaps as it's your first drink mix with orange juice to make a classic Bucks Fizz, we wouldn't want you to get too tipsy!

Happy impending birthday Elizabeth!

I'm just off to pop the cork right now I think... all those Lost? questions have marked an early start to the weekend. Cheers!

Q. Sorry to pesty about this. Still not clear. You say the Lost? video competition is over at midnight GMT. You also say it is open until December 1 (as opposed to through). So we actually have until midnight November 30 (or really until 11:59p.m.)., and in the states until 6:59p.m).

The Oracle replies:

Come on guys! It is perfectly clear. Midnight on Nov 30 isn't December the 1st now is it? 00.00 at the end of December the first is your final chance. You MUST adhere to the fact it says GMT. Any that arrive after that time will not be considered. My cage is rattled...

Q. You said a week ago that the staff was putting all of the submitted videos for the lost? competition on the favorites list on youtube. Why have they not put all of the recent entries up? Thanks Oracle!

The Oracle replies:

Well, there has been a little hitch with the favourite button at our end but regardless of whether they have been added to our page, one thing I can assure you is that apart from some submissions from Wednesday, Thursday and today every single video has been watched. The recent ones will be watched of course as well as any that come in before midnight the closing date.

Q. dearest oracle from delphi:

about the lost competition... can we turn in videos on dec. 1, or do we have to before dec. 1?

and for all the people who are heartbroken or angry somehow from this competition- think about how many people are entering this and really the chances of winning are slim for everyone so please lighten up, i want to win, too!

The Oracle replies:

The competition runs until Monday 1 December 2008. No entries will be accepted as eligible after midnight (GMT) on this closing date.

Q. hello oracle! some time ago you mentioned that the lyrics were going to be posted on the site, is that going to happen any time soon? i've read many lyrics related questions, and i have a few myself, wouldn't it be esasier if you just posted them? thanks!

The Oracle replies:

It will happen sometime in the New Year, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Alright, peeps. I submitted a question today, and I don't wanna hear anyone say "Oh that was such a stupid question..etc" SO I'ma post it here.

(This is not the exact wording that I used, but I can't remember exactly what I wrote.)

Even though the Coldplay guys are married men (Mostly), what is their "type" of girls?

My dad married a woman who was not his "type" at all (just because a certain girl of boy is not your type doesn't mean you can't fall in love with them, right? ;)) so I was wondering what the guys' types of girls were.

:)

I thought that was a fun question to ask. Let's see if she answers it.

Not so sure she will

Not so sure she will

Well, so much for optimism

lol I doubt she will too, but it's worth the try. What's the worst that could happen? Not getting answered? IT'll be yet another fact we'll never know lol.

Q. Whats the correct text in The Killers song Human?

Is it "Are we dancer" or is it "Are we denser" ?

Would be nice with a answer :)

The Oracle replies:

Denser. See previous question to see why this is a brief answer!

Q. Is Seetickets.com a trustworthy retailer of tickets for the 11th December gig at the M.E.N. Arena? Thank you in anticipation...p.s. are you human?

The Oracle replies:

Yes and yes. Keeping it short tonight as the Lost? video competition comes to a close soon!

Uh-oh... Brandon Flowers himself has said it's "dancer".

^^

yep i asked the oracle a question just now and i putin that its dancer and not denser

The Oracle was wrong today!!

:shocked2:

It's dancer, Brandon Flowers himself said so. (And I think he would know)

Apparently it's a quote or something.

Many of the Killers' fans have been mystified why the song's chorus ("Are we human/ Or are we dancer?"), refers to "dancer" in the singular. Some have wondered if Flowers is in fact singing something else, such as, "denser." MTV News asked Flowers about the nonsensical chorus. He replied: "It's taken from a quote by [author Hunter S.] Thompson: 'We're raising a generation of dancers,' and I took it and ran. I guess it bothers people that it's not grammatically correct, but I think I'm allowed to do whatever I want." He added, laughing: "'Denser'? I hadn't heard that one. I don't like 'denser.'"

Q. Dear Oracle,

I understand you are a busy man, however, I am spending a small fortune to come to the UK and would like an answer before I do. I bought tickets to the Wembley show, ticketmaster said they could be delivered as late as 10 days before the show because the promoter is supplying the tickets. I would hate to be traveling to the UK and the tickets arrive at my home in the US. Do you know when the tickets will be sent?

The Oracle replies:

No I do not. It is standard practice not to post tickets until closer to the show date and so you need to contact them directly. Try their online FAQ first. Ask what their policy is for international purchases. Ticketmaster sometimes have a print at home option at the time of purchase so maybe they could arrange this for you now?

December 3, 2008 - submitted by Vallath, United Kingdom

Q. I know you are busy with the Lost video competition, so take your time on this one. I booked tickets for the Manchester competition online on seetickets.com. I move about quite a bit and do not have a permanent address. I also reside outside of UK. So the question is can I change the address given at the time of booking, later? Will they send me the tickets in time to receive it before I leave to the UK for the concert. I am the slightly (okay, highly) panicky sort. So a lil reassurance would be nice. I have never done this sort of thing before (my first international concert this is, yes). Thank you for your eternal patience, Oracle. You are a kind one.

The Oracle replies:

The competition is over so I am all yours! Hoorah! When I go to See Tickets I can access my own account and it clearly says: CHANGE DELIVERY ADDRESS so it should be that simple for you too. I suggest you get them mailed to an address within the U.K though. I only received tickets yesterday for an event in less than two weeks so if you do it now, you may be in time.

Q. Do you not think you should check your answers more accurately, or at least change the statement that you know everything? You obviously do not, because your answer about The Killers (and their song Human) was wrong - the real lyrics goes "Are we human, or are we dancer" as Brandon Flowers said in an interview, reffering to a quote about raising a generation of dancer"

The Oracle replies:

Ah silly me, you are right of course. Hunter S. Thomson inspired it and I knew that. I put it down to more speed less haste! I think my hearing is going in my older age though as I honestly thought the

album was called DNAge, which I happen to think is very catchy!

If I were cruel I would point out you spelt referring wrong. Oops looks like I am after all. :whip:

Q. Hi Oracle! I have been wondering if you can tell me why our video for the Lost? competition was not even put in the favourites...can you tell me what you think about it? (edited link out)

thank you!

The Oracle replies:

The favourite button was definitely clicked. I should know, I remember doing it! Have you seen there is a 2nd page? ColdplayTV2

had to be set up due to the huge volume.

Q. As the mighty Oracle- Do you have to follow some rules given by the band to you?

Q. Is it right to think of you as a man, like not a woman? Also, are you touring with the band right now? If not, I would really like to know how you answer the questions regarding the band so fast.

The Oracle replies:

Wow, the question straight after this one was also about my gender. Think of me as androgynous.

I do not tour with the band but we are in the same country right now. They actually have a day off today.

Q. Dear Oracle,

Tell us a joke?

Thanks!

The Oracle replies:

I heard this one today...

A very old lady turns to her husband at a Christmas party.

"Oh dear", she says, "I seem to have silently broken wind, what should I do?"

Her husband replies "Get a new battery for your hearing aid".

Q. Dear Oracle,

Last night the concert was brilliant, but marred for me by Chris Martin swearing. I took my sons with me, there were lots of other children. There is surely no need to swear. Can you assure me that this is abnormal?

Sincerely

The Oracle replies:

I can't assure you it's abnormal no, as it's very commonplace and has been around for centuries. They are just words. I know not everyone agrees and it is a personal choice. It is also a form of expression and as that is personal too it cannot be something one is told not to do. I don't wish to sound uncaring but whatever Chris says, it's no worse than kids hear in the playground these days or on television. It does seem to be more acceptable than previously but I am quite sure he wasn't effing and jeffing every other word. Swearing can sometimes perfectly illustrate a passion, mood, reaction and can be humorous. If it makes you feel any better as a father, Chris' Dad doesn't like Chris swearing either!

Re: The swearing question. What did the dude expect? It's not Disney on ice...or Miley Cyrus, it's a ROCK concert

I didn't get the oracle's joke......... :embarassed:

She's telling her husband she has done a silent fart and he's telling her that she needs to turn her hearing aid up, meaning the fart wasn't silent at all :idea2:

i WISH it was denser. it would make much more grammatical sense :P

i love the song, but that one line really kills it for me.

me too. i am highly disapointed in that song. very vanilla, very boring.blah, blah, blah (dont mean to offend vanilla ice cream fans)

She's telling her husband she has done a silent fart and he's telling her that she needs to turn her hearing aid up, meaning the fart wasn't silent at all :idea2:

ohh.. i get it now!!!!!!

fart=broken wind??? no wonder i didn't get it!!!!!!!!!! :D
