  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Ok, don't Stone me, but what is the reasoning behind not wanting This song in the movie? I would think we would want more kids to come out of the closet and like Coldplay???

Hasn't Chris said, He wanted that geek on the playground not to be made fun of cause he liked Coldplay?? Or something like that. This movie with this song might just do this.

(Runs off avoiding the game of Stone Throwing):laugh3:

Well it's kinda a ridiculous thought on my part, I know, kinda being a snooty fan I guess...but speaking for myself, I don't want that song, that I love soo much and I think is so great, associated with anything but Coldplay. And even though like I said I'm a fan of the books...it's not Oscar-worthy material...so I especially wouldn't want it associated with..( I know I sound ridiculous:P, as I type this I realize it. But oh well LOL)

Thanks for the reply, my daughter (17) is a big fan, read the books, and saw the first movie, as I did as well, I enjoy all the vampire movies, and TV shows, (True Blood), and I understand the song not being in a Oscar award winning movie, cause it's not one. Maybe the MTV movie awards:laugh3:

I agree with Coldpay songs being in "Garden State," but I'm not sure about blockbuster vampire movies.I think it would be ruining the song.

But I do agree with you, that The Scientist is so close to my heart I cannot see it used in New Moon :shame:

I cannot imagine the scenario. It's like Muse being used in Twilight. I love Muse as much as Coldplay, and I was horrified to know that Supermassive Black Hole was used in the movie :\

I wonder if this is one of those threads that Phil looks at  :laugh3:

I have no opinion on the subject as I've not read the books or seen the film... I'm too dedicated to Harry Potter to consider getting in to Vampires :P

Liked the comment about "teens coming out of the closet and liking Coldplay"... all the kids in my class hate Coldplay and think I should feel great shame for being such a fan!

It must be Matt's doing!

Didn't he say that Harry Potter is a genius & LOTR isn't?

What did you expect?! :P

Yeah, me too!

I know fuck all about those Twilight books, too dedicated to my love, Harry as well! :P (not that friggin' Radcliffe thing though, he ruined Harry for me! [/irrelevant rant])

But yeah, I wouldn't want Coldplay to be associated with anything too teeny & not - at least - Oscar-nominating-worthy, even if it's HP. (sorry Harry! :P)

May I also remind you all of the extra sacrilege of 15 Steps being used in the credits.

However, in saying all that, I know of some teenage girls who usta just listen to shiet, who now are fans of Muse and Radiohead from watching Twilight (and borrowing my CDs). But at the end of the day, I don't want to be watching some soppy movie with some sad-ass scene with The Scientist in the background. It would ruin it. I would give a death stare so big my eyebrows would frown all the way down to my chin.

:laugh3:

"Don`t want Coldplay associated with anything"teenybopper" ???

I think Chris himself blew all chances of that with his endorsement/praise of freaking

MILEY CYRUS.:dozey::rolleyes:

 Please Coldplay... no New Moon, no Miley Cyrus.

I can see it already... High School Musical 4: The Reunion soundtrack :stunned:

Since when does Mr Champion agree to do stuff like that??He is supposed to veto these kinds of ideas.Bad William!Bad!!.....Don't give me the death stare, I have a better one

This news is one of my worst nightmare coming true!!! Please Will, SAY NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Q. Dear Mr. Awesome Oracle,

I heard that Will plays the voice of Private on Penguins of Madagascar. Is that seriously true?

Love,

Jackie <3 <3

The Oracle replies:

No, James Patrick Stuart voices the part of Private.

"Not like that bastard Jay-Z" :D

Q. Dear Oracle,

Can I have permission to write a song based off the guitar riff from Talk?

The Oracle replies:

You can't get permission from Coldplay no. It's not their permission to give. They themselves asked permission from Kraftwerk who originally wrote that riff; it appears in their track Computer Love.

Chris contacted the band directly but the usual route is to contact the artist's publishers.

Shouldn't the main question be about Coldplay and Muse sneak in with a P.S???

Q. Dear Oracle, do you know who directed Muse's Butterflies and Hurricanes videoclip?

Thank you so much :)

Jo

PS: Perhaps you can tell me who directed Lovers in Japan video too?

The Oracle replies:

P. Holtkamp and Tim Qualtrough directed the Butterflies and Hurricanes video. Mat Whitecross directed the Lovers In Japan clip.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I asked you a few questions but I really hope you'll answer this one...

It's been nearly a year I saw a funny interview of Chris on youtube called "Chris Martin on Enough Rope" in july 2006. He talks about song writing. In the end, Andrew Denton asks him "are you allowed to use the word "root" (?) on your first song?". Then everybody laugh and Chris says "you think I don't know what you're talking about?".

So here's my question: What the hell are they talking about?!

Please Dear Oracle...

Thank you :)

From Lyon with Love!

The Oracle replies:

The only definition I know of root that could cause laughter is the Australian slang meaning. It's rather rude and I shall put it as politely as I can. It means sexual intercourse.

Own up, guys, who complained to the Oracle!

Q. Will Stephenie Meyer finish and publish her book Midnight Sun?

The Oracle replies:

You wouldn't believe how many questions I receive about the Twilight saga. Weirdly one comment this week was from a Coldplay fan that hates the series and spoke on behalf of all fans saying you'd all appreciate the band having nothing to do with it. I totally disagree and seemingly the majority of Oracle querents do too.

Anyway, as you're a fan of both, you should know that as with Alice, I am only able to see the outcome of a final decision once it is made. So if Stephenie changes her mind the course and end result will change also

Good answer!

Q. Why are Coldplay fans considered gay? I just don't understand it.

The Oracle replies:

Ooh another definition question! Well, why don't we all just respond with the original dictionary definition that is: 1. Having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music.

Nothing wrong with that!

I know what you're referring to and I agree that it's nonsensical

Mongolia??? How cool is that!

Q. Dear Oracle, please please answer this one... I was watching Grey's Anatomy (the bomb episode) and there seems the song that goes after Grey puts her arm in the patient seems like it was one of Coldplay's, what song is it?

The Oracle replies:

I'm assuming you think it's Coldplay because it's Chris' vocal. It is in fact the duet In The Sun by Michael Stipe & Chris Martin.

Q. I was reading about the breast muscles on Wikipedia recently. The search referred to the Latin name Pectoralis Major.

In the first line it said: This article is about anatomy. For the band formerly named Pectoralz, see Coldplay.

Where did Pectoralz come from? Wasn't it Starfish before?

The Oracle replies:

This gives me a chance to remind people about the alternative to a search option on this site. You will find the answer to your questions in our tag cloud within this Oracle section as it's been answered before.
