  • I can't give you the reasonings on why things changed, but I can give you an update from what I observed. The Oracle was run by Debs Wild. Debs is still with the band and helps out fans, for exam

Q. Hi oracle

In the Live Roskilde Blog there is a photo in which Jonny is playing a piano but, why is he blowing on a kind of tube?

What is exactly?

Q. In the live Roskilde blog there is a picture of Chris on stage with a caption saying "There's a good chance you won't need us to tell you what song this is..." As I have never been to a Coldplay show (not until August 3rd anyway, can't wait!), I could not figure out what song the picture was showing. Could you help me out with this?

The Oracle replies:

It was Viva La Vida.

Funny, I could have sworn it was Lovers in Japan myself but what do I know??

Q. Dear Oracle, is the planet rock video interview that was available on the Parachutes-era website still available anywhere?!?!?! That video defined my life!

Thanx

This [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Qm_Rl4PBA]clip[/ame] should get you started.

Dear Oracle,

Does Chris really have his own private jet? (Sorry if this has been asked before) or does he just lease it/rent it by the hour when he needs it? If so, do you know what it is? (Im a bit of a geek when it comes to planes

Thanks,

Lucy

^^video. Chris: "The thing that I enjoy the most is the four of us being close physically as well as musically..." You bet, Chris :sneaky:

Q. Dear Oracle,

I have a dream, a very big dream - one of those which make your eyes shine - and I really really wanna go after it. Though, I'm discouraged by my family and friends.

What do I do? I know that it is the only thing that would make me smile, someday, while looking to the past.

I don't know if I mispelled something, or if it's clear.

But, please, help me to follow my dream!

Thank you very much. :)

The Oracle replies:

The exact same thing happened to me and quite frankly, the fact that family and friends weren't supportive or encouraging only made me more determined. I think you need to listen to your inner self and go for it!

Q. Dear wise one,

Firece Panda Records Re-released Brothers and Sisters due to its extreme limited first run production. Are there any plans to do the same for the Safety ep? I think I speak for many Coldplay fans whose CD collections are incomplete without it. I understand that the original recordings can be found on other CD singles but it's nice to have the CD itself with album art. If there are no plans I think it would be a great idea....Just a thought. Please let me know what you think. If you can post this I would like everyone to know, if you have an original copy of the Safety ep....name your price. Thank you!

The Oracle replies:

Safety goes for around 1000 these days but I would never sell mine! There'll never be a re-release as it was for demo purposes only. Plus all the original recordings have appeared on official releases now, so you can have those...

Check the discography to see the singles which contain the Safety tracks.

Q. Hello,

I just thought the band and those who read your answers would be interested to know that one of the biggest Coldplay fans ever and I mean that with no exaggeration at all died recently in a road accident on her way to the Eden Sessions. She was one of those vibrant, soulful and truly admirable people that those who met her, always remembered her. Jennifer or Nettie as she was often known as had websites such as mycoldplay.com and guyberryman.net. She travelled all over her home in the U.K and to the U.S to see the boys. She was known by many Coldplay fans on the web as 'a famous fan'. She will be sorely missed. Anyone who knew her would know that she was a force of nature and grabbed life by the horns. Always friendly and eager to chat or help people out. On behalf of the people who knew her, I would like to honor her here as I know that would have been something she would have truly appreciated.

R.I.P Jennifer xxx

Everyone here was terribly saddened by this tragic news. Nettie will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. Her face was a constant front row beam of light.

Even security will miss her hanging round stage doors trying to blag her way in! She was a true music fan with a big heart. It won't be the same without her.

RIP Jen:cry:

Good on ya, Oracle.

RIP, Nettie...

Q. Dear Oracle,

Can you survive without calculator? If you ask me,definitely I answer no!! Even if the calculation was easy, for example 20-22=-2 I still use it. I'm not that dumb but I just wanna to sure if the answers was correct or not. It is part of my life, everything I need was calculator in my hand, that is very important!

Thank you for your opinion!

The Oracle replies:

Yes I can survive without a calculator but would rather not. 20-22 does not equal 2 though; it's -2. I know what you mean though, 22-20 is always gonna be 2 and that won't change. All you need is confidence my friend.

Q. Dear Oracle,

I just realized that no one outside US and UK don't know what "Til Kingdom come" actually means.Does it mean that Kingdom is going to come or what? Or is it some kind of metaphor used in English language? Please answer!!!

P.S. Sorry for my English.

The Oracle replies:

It originates from biblical times and is commonly known for its use in The Lord's Prayer. Generally it means until the end of time.

Q. How's it going, wise Oracle?

Have you ever seen Snatch?

Is Oracle able to follow what Brad Pitt say at a campside? Because you know everything..

Thanks in advance.

aya

The Oracle replies:

Colloquial language can be very tricky to understand. I do sometimes struggle with certain regional accents of Scotland, Newcastle and good old Ireland. I can just about follow Mr Pitt's Irish accent. Tricky isn't it? Given you're from Japan, I feel your struggle!

Q. Q.

Some magazines said that Chris would be going to leave Coldplay

2010 and try it solo.

Is this true?

The Oracle replies:

Chris has been quoted as saying he would never go solo. In an interview on a previous Coldplay.com guise, he said that although he has worked with other artists, he would never consider going it alone.

Q. Q. Hello wise Oracle,

I have an entrance exam for the University tomorrow. Do you think I should go take this exam?

The Oracle replies:

Absolutely. If you never try you'll never know, as someone we know once said. If you take it and pass, you have the choice of whether to go or not at a later date. If you don't, you may regret it. My motto is it's better to regret what you do than what you don't... in these sorts of situations anyway.

Q. Hi Oracle!

I would ask to you two questions.

* Do you know who was the last player of chess (I talk about the picture taken at 6.27 pm of the Roskilde blog)? Because he made a mistake while replacing knights and bishops: they must be inverted at all costs, otherwise the next chess game will be wrong!

* Why do women's clothes have their buttons on the left side (skirt, jeans) whereas mens' clothes have theirs at the right side? I never understood that point.

Thanks for reading (and answering?) !

The Oracle replies:

There didn't seem to be anyone playing chess at all on the day and the band certainly didn't.

There are so many theories about why buttons differ for male and female garments. A popular answer is that women were dressed by their mothers or maids and so it was easier for the dresser. As most garments favoured the left side in earlier days another logical reason that I like is that men needed to draw their swords quickly. As they hung to their left sides and there were more right-handed men, it was easier to move the buttons so they could use their right hand to unbutton and therefore quickly release the sword.

Q. Hey Oracle.

I have 2 Questions

Why Coldplay never came to Malta I know we're a small island but we're still in the map right? Coldplay have millions of fans here in Malta. Malta <3s Coldplay

*Do fish get thirsty?

The Oracle replies:

I'm not sure there could be millions of fans in Malta given that the entire population was 403,532 in July 2008! (Estimated).

Anyway, tour dates are tricky as they can't go everywhere but I wouldn't be allowed to tell you in advance where or when they're playing in case it doesn't happen. Sorry about that!

Fish do dehydrate and take in water regularly but obviously as they live in water, they always have it so it's not strictly thirst.

I think they did the right thing...

Q. Dear Oracle,

The morning of the Ridgefield concert my husband and I were out for breakfast. As huge fans, imagine our surprise when Will and Jonny walked in and were seated at the table behind ours. I had our concert tickets burning a hole in my purse begging to be signed, thus begins our moral quandry - interrupt their breakfast for an autography, or let them eat their breakfast in peace. In the end, we chose the latter, but partially regret passing up this once in a lifetime opportunity. In case this one in a million chance comes our way again, did we make the right decision, or is there a proper way to interrupt?

The Oracle replies:

The way I see it is you still have the story to tell so it's not all bad. I personally would have done the same. I don't like to interrupt anyone whilst they're eating although I did do once. It was Karl Wallinger at a private show so it wasn't too bad but I did feel bad as the man was trying to chow down!

I'm sure Jonny & Will wouldn't have minded and given you had tickets on your very person, they'd have been happy to oblige but at least you can know you are very polite!
