On one hand, I'm a bit dissapointed in him because it was a very stupid and immature thing to do. On the other, I find it very funny and think it's great that he took a stand against the weirdo. I would like to hear Chris's side of the story, the photographer must have said something to Chris to make him angry.

 

Didn't Chris once say that it there was two stories, one about him eating a sandwhich and one about Liam G. attacking photographers, that the one about Liam G. would make it into the papers.

Paying damage will end action.

 

COMPENSATION for damages could be all it takes to get Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin out of a court appearance following an alleged altercation with a photographer.

 

Martin, whose band headlined the Splendour In The Grass music festival at Byron Bay, objected to freelance photographer Jon Lister taking photographs of him surfing on Sunday.

 

The photographers car windscreen was allegedly smashed in the clash, and police said yesterday a British man, 26, had been summonsed to appear in court for malicious damage.

 

“Byron Bay police were told a press photographers car was damaged after a conversation between two people at Seven Mile Beach just after noon yesterday,” a police spokesman said.

 

But the photographers employer, who owns the damaged car, said he would not pursue legal action against Martin.

 

“We are not intending on pushing the issue in the court, we just want the damage paid for,” the Sydney photo agency director, who did not wish to be named, said.

 

“We wish it hadnt become a story ... thats why the photographer didnt photograph the incident.”

By the way I got mad b/c everyone was praising Chris for what he did when it was obviously wrong, smashing up someones car over a few (lets face it)innocent pictures is not something to celebrate. He over-reacted, let down his family and friends and garnered a bad reputation for himself. I think some people on this board would forgive him for murder - it annoys me that people think that right and wrong don't apply to idols!
