Special effects? I was think more like Best Editting...hmm...it'd have to be the single most random video I've seen for a long time, right after Wild Strawberries by PNAU

^^:laugh4:!!

yay for coldplay!!!

i don't usually watch the vmas anymore. it's over run by young bad artists now. :dozey:.

i hope i don't watch the three hour annoying show to see them, and they either don't win so they dont go up on stage... or they do win and aren't there. :P

the VMA's suck as i have ranted before so who gives a crappola? Of course i will give my undying support to Coldplay and vote for them but the vid is pretty random. I figured out the music stations (VH1 and MTV) only play vids in the am and then the useless shows they call entertainment the rest of the day:rolleyes:

i don't hope anything from VMAs any way.

but if they win definitely congrats and Yay to them.:)

Um what special effects are used in the VH vid? :uhoh: Is just four boys goofing off in front of a camera.

Well done anyway :P

there are no special effects. It's just the boys playing and walking up a hill:confused:

I guess Chris not cracking his head open on the rock at the end constitutes "Special Effects" i can't watch that part.

This is odd, there are less special effects in this video, than any video they've ever done. Though I have to say I don't think their videos since the parachute days have been particularly special effects laden anyway. hmmm... odd.

What a load of crap.

Just another MTV awards

I guess Chris not cracking his head open on the rock at the end constitutes "Special Effects" i can't watch that part.

:laugh3:Same here

UGHHHHHH!

What a buttload of crap!!! I was so mad when i found out...I mean for christ sake they have the number one selling digital album of all time and the number 2 (soon to be number one) selling album of the year!! Stupid MTV! See this is why i should live in the UK!!

Yer I don't get it. What effects are there?

Like..its a bit black and white. They do a lot of cuts...but that's not effects.

Yer, what Miss Snicket said...best editing mightve been better.

Meh...hope they win, just cos theyre Coldplay.

MTV is crap anyway.do they even still play music videos between all their decadent reality shows?

There are special effects in the sense that sometimes you see more than one Chris in one shot (at the very start where the guitar kicks in). I mean, if they were flying in mid-air or had lightsabers than yeah, special effects woo! but there's none of that...:dozey:

Is it just me or do most of those nominations kinda suck...

ehh it is MTV after all.

What a buttload of crap!!! I was so mad when i found out...I mean for christ sake they have the number one selling digital album of all time and the number 2 (soon to be number one) selling album of the year!! Stupid MTV! See this is why i should live in the UK!!

ACtually its number one selling album of 2008 so far.......... yeah and its shocking to know this their is no special effects i can see in the vid... although good luck to them!:)

Just watched all the other vids nominated and my pick for best special effects would be either Erykah Badu or Kanye West. Coldplay has absolutely no chance because there's absolutely no special effects other than greyscale.

Um what special effects are used in the VH vid? :uhoh: Is just four boys goofing off in front of a camera.

Purple tint, desaturation of colors in some parts, flashes, slow effects etc etc

Nothing really impressive but you know  I'm suprised because it doesn't even have good lip-synch!

And there are somebits in the video where Chris is sorta just standing there

Not very good direction on that part

To be honest I'm surprised they've been as successful as they have here. Lets face it in America its not popular to be a good band. They (and by they I mean the music industry) want sugary processed dancing in scantily clad crap in pretty disposable packages, and coldplay has never been that. I think the album sales speak for themselves in terms of what people want and MTV can just go to hell.

They should have gotten special effects on VLV! But I am glad Violet Hill got nominated as well though :D!

so wait, since when is putting a magnifying glass in front of your mouth considered a special effect?

  • 2 weeks later...

And the winner is...
