Its the album that changed rock and roll history forever. Well not actually. But it did make alot of noise with the pay-what-you want. Since October 10, 2007....the album has been toured around the world, the band have had numerous webcasts, the band have released free videos via a podcast, the band have had two contests to remix Nude and Reckoner. And well its been a boatload of fun.

So my questions for the partay:

Tell us what your favourite song was the first time you heard the album and what it is a year later.

How many times have you listened to it on last.fm?

How many times do you estimate you have listened to it over the past year.

What ranking is it in terms of favourite Radiohead album now.

well a year ago was pretty exciting for this album to be released. I remember the months preceeding it where I heard the live songs and I couldn't wait to hear the studio versions. I actually remember that I had class that day, but at least it wasn't until noon or so, but i still got up early to listen to it. I do remember listening to it I was actually disappointed because the songs sounded somewhat different, for example 15 Step was different, and without and reverb on the vocals to me it sounded empty. Another song that I was disappointed in was Jigsaw Falling into Place because I was expecting a really rocking song with electric guitars like from what i heard from the 2006 tour (when it was called Open Pick, I still call the live 2006 versions of the song that name). Lastly the song I can say I was most disappointed with was Videotape, and for those that heard the 2006 version first I think you know why. The way the song was played to me it made it appear that this song was going to be Radiohead's most epic song since perhaps Paranoid Android. So when I heard the stripped down studio version I was pretty disappointed, and it took a few months (actually until the scotch_mist webcast) until I finally started to get into the song.

so that's what I initially thought of it.

The song that I liked the most at first was I think was Nude... I think that they pulled it off the best. Also I remember really liking All I Need (especially the ending climax), and Faust Arp because it was brand new.

now my favorite always changes but i've been in a jigsaw phase

according to my last fm this is how much I have listened to each song:

1. Nude-101

2. All I Need-84

3. 15 Step-74

4. Videotape-74

5. Bodysnatchers-70

6. Jigsaw Falling Into Place-61

7. House of Cards-55

8. Reckoner-53

9. Arpeggi-49

10. Faust Arp-32

of these numbers I would be safe to say double them if not triple some of them due to the amount of times i've listened to it on my ipod.

I'd say that i've listened to the album at least 100 times, so overall between 100 and 200 times over that past year.

compared to other albums here's how it ranks

1. OK Computer

2. In Rainbows

3. Kid A

4. Amnesiac

5. HTTT

6. The Bends

7. Pablo Honey

lastly getting to see them live the songs from this album that were highlights live were: 15 Step, Jigsaw Falling into Place, Videotape, Arpeggi, and Reckoner

...phew that was alot to write

It was probably Bodysnatchers. I remember being a bit apprehensive about how this would turn out, as I thought it sounded a bit sketchy from the bootlegs.

Now though, it's Reckoner. PHIL MAKES THE SONG. Thom is on top form here, and Jonny is, well, lemontastic. :P Absolutely fucking phenomenal. In my top five Radiohead songs ever.

How many times have you listened to it on last.fm?

I don't have one. As for the iPod, well, erm, lots.

How many times do you estimate you have listened to it over the past year.

Well, it owned my life for about two weeks after it come out (I will never forget that day.), then I was getting my discbox on for a while around Christmas. Then I listened to it sparingly for about 4 months after that, then I became obsessed with it again in the build-up to Dublin 1. About 100 over the past year then.

What ranking is it in terms of favourite Radiohead album now.

Kid A

OK Computer

In Rainbows / Amnesiac

Hail To The Thief / The Bends

Pablo Honey

Also can I just say that House Of Cards has to be the most perfect song for a summer evening. It was brilliant when I saw them live.

Other IR songs that I loved: well, all of them lol, but especially 15 Step, Bangers And Mash (underappreciated much?) All I Need and Reckoner.

the first time I listened to the album my favourite song was house of cards... but now it's weird fishes; however, I just think now that most of the songs are quite excelent, it is among my top 5 or top 3 of fav albums... But I think I'm the weirdest in rainbows fans since I don't like Nude

i think my favourite song the first time i heard the album was reckoner because it completely blew me away, it sounded alien, and not like it fitted on a rh album. but that was just on my first listen so obviously now i can see its the kind of thing rh do in songs. now i would say my favourite song is....nude or videotape. they just seem to get that emotional attachment and reaction in me recently. i dont know why.

How many times have you listened to it on last.fm?

i have no idea. probably about 35 times though.

How many times do you estimate you have listened to it over the past year.

about 50? this is a wild guess.

1 year already?:shocked2:

It seems like so much less time.

Tell us what your favourite song was the first time you heard the album and what it is a year later. First time through it was clearly "All I Need", it was probably the easiest to get into. Now it's a dead tie between "Nude" and "Jigsaw"

How many times have you listened to it on last.fm?

None, I don't use last.fm:P

How many times do you estimate you have listened to it over the past year.

The whole album through? Possibly 30 times. Individual songs amny more times.

What ranking is it in terms of favourite Radiohead album now. As of right now it's second behind The Bends. I think it surpasses OK Computer barely.

Eee! Can't believe it's been a year. Happy birthday. :crown:

1. Reckoner, and it hasn't changed. The first time I heard it I had butterflies in my stomoch from the funny chord sequence. Now I love it because it sounds so new and fresh, but so old school soulful too. In fact it's currently vying with about 5 or 10 other songs for number one favorite of all of theirs.

2. Reckoner-11, 15 Step - 9, Arpeggi, Faust Arp - both 7. The rest less. Last time I logged in? Last year I think.

3. Oh weekly if not daily. I just plain haven't gotten tired of it at all. It's my any mood go to album. Probably works out to between 100 and 200 times.

4. In Rainbows 1st, Ok Computer, Amnesiac, Kid A (tie) 2nd, The Bends a very close 3rd, HTTT next, and PH in a very, very distant last after some of their EPs.

Best Album ever, should be called Viva la vida cause there you can fell live everywhere, learn coldplay from (i have to say) better band at this moment in sense of art offcourse not confetti

Sorry, you're not invited to this birthday party. No use of the C word here. This is not a Radiohead vs. C***P*** debate.

This is a thread to celebrate In Rainbows.

today i laid in my bed and listened through the whole album. i've listened to it a ton of times but today was especially good. i love this album so much.

1. the first time i heard it my favorite was DEFINATELY jigsaw with videotape pretty close behind. since then i've switched off... 15 step was #1 for awhile but now it's definately reckoner. i had like an epiphany with that song.

2. my #1 IR song on last.fm is 15 step with 105 plays. i cant scrobble my ipod so that is low. overall in rainbows has 559 plays on my last.fm... still doesnt add in my ipod plays though.

3. i don't even know. it's always in the CD player next to my bed or in my car and so many other places so there are countless times where i've put it on when ive just wanted to listen to SOMETHING.

4. probably 2. Kid A is undoubetdly #1 for me.

I just want to take a minute to really tell you all how amazing this album is.

The whole album may be one of the boldest, most experimental collections of music I've ever heard, and I listen to Pink Floyd. It uses innovative and unusual effects and sounds and not just blunt strange noises like some of their older stuff. Every note ties in with every other note, and each effect was completely necessary to tie each song together. I find it so amazing that 5 people can work together and put something this incredible into 10 songs.

Each song lyrically is as amazing as anything they've ever written, and the instrumentals just bring the whole album to a new level in music. This album has raised the bar for all veteran bands looking for a new sound. For the rest of my life anyway, I will always think of In Rainbows any time an old band tries to reshape their sound. It will always be the measuring stick for success.

Also, the whole idea of letting fans pay what they want for the album was not only sheer genius, it really showed everyone how confident they were. Not only did fans pay money for the album when they could have taken it free, but many also went and bought the actual CD along with the digital download. Plus, they gained many new fans with this strategy, myself included.

I had heard many great things about Radiohead, but had never really listened to any of their music (except for the Pyramid Song music video once on VH1) until this album was released. Obviously, I took it for free, not knowing what to expect. The first time through, I was in shock. The music was so strange to me, so different form anything I had ever heard. For a while it sat on my computer, rarely being listened to. Then after buying and completely devouring every second of The Bends, I decided to give it another listen. By now I was more used to the Radiohead style, and the whole album just got better. Since then, each time I've listened through it, it has just gotten better in my opinion.

Since I am a relatively new Radiohead fan, I can't really comment on if this album brought the band to a new level. But from what I have heard and seen, it is at least as big a step for them as OK Computer or Kid A. They have not only reinvented their own sound, but they have essentially created a new genre of music.

So now my favorite genres of music are:

-Rock and roll

- Alternative

-Ska

-Jam Band

-Hard rock

-Soft rock

-Radiohead

That's right, they get their own genre form now on. A truly unique and amazing band, Radiohead and In Rainbows have changed music forever, at least for me.

Tell us what your favourite song was the first time you heard the album and what it is a year later.

First time I heard it was Bodysnatchers, I didn't really get into the album much at first and Bodysnatchers seemed the most accessable. The entire thing has grown on me now though, and for a few months afterwards my favourite kept changing, but the one I seem to keep going back to is Bodysnatchers so I guess that's it.

How many times have you listened to it on last.fm?

Too lazy for last.fm. I've listened to it on my iPod a few times... can't say how many

How many times do you estimate you have listened to it over the past year.

Once? A billion? Don't know.

What ranking is it in terms of favourite Radiohead album now.

1. The Bends

2. Hail To The Thief

3. Kid A

4. OK Computer

5. Pablo Honey

6. In Rainbows

7. Amnesiac
