Overrated : Kings of Leon and The Kooks and MGMT

 

Underrated: Basically most aussie bands. Silverchair, Powderfinger, INXS (old one), John Butler Trio, The Panics, The Presets, and many many more

I agree with KoL and MGMT, the kooks aren't rated at all anymore though

 

 

KoL disappoint me so much, they got worse with each album

 

and MGMT are the most boring thing I have ever seen live in my life

Few people know about Muse over here.It's so weird.I grew up in Europe so Muse was always playing.

Not in the States, Muse is one band that has had enormous trouble crossing the pond, they're mostly unheard of and the only thing people know them for is "Knights of Cydonia" in guitar hero.

Over-rated: Razorlight, (good but not THAT good). The Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things...etc

 

Under-rated: Manic Street Preachers, their album 'The Holy Bible' beats the crap out of a lot of the so-called 'edgy' albums around now!

Admittedly Manics newer stuff isn't really that great, but I will ignore that :)

How the fuck are The Smiths underrated? What world do you live in?

 

I like them but they have such high regard as a band, it's not as if nobody knows about them

 

 

They do have high regard nearly universally, but you are also in the UK, its different outside the UK. Even in the US where they had critical acclaim, most people would not recognize the name unless they were into alternative rock in the 80s.

NME a few years ago named The Smiths the most influential rock band of all time, that is amazing. Of course those lists are always dubious at best, its still incredible for a band after 20 years to be so highly regarded. I always trumpet The Smiths because they were that good.

OVERRATED : Tokio Hotel xD (actually, in France, they really are :s), Fall Out Boys

UNDERRATED : 3 Doors Down (at least in France), AaRON

And I think I would add The Living End. Double bass in a rock band : awesome !

overrated: dirty pretty things, the libertines, oasis, kaiser chiefs, kasabian, klaxons, mgmt, all x factor projects

 

underrated: foals, the verve, portishead, silversun pickups, deerhunter, can, sigur ros.
