It looks like it!

This is what is written on his website...

During the fourth set of the Wimbledon final, Andy had a nasty fall on his right hip, and it is this injury that has forced him to pull out of the Davis Cup quarterfinal.

^ I hope it's nothing big and he recovers soon.

I don't think Mark's dissing them for their looks, he's just pointing out that they're so far superior to the other women playing tennis that they might as well be men. And frankly, it gets a little boring when any player dominates a sport so much.

I don't believe they're superior to other female tennis players. Other female players have been able to beat them: like Ana Ivanović who beated Venus (2008 Aus Open), Dinara Safina beating Serena (2008 German Open), Svetlana Kuznetsova beating Serena (2009 Roland Garros) and even unseeded players like Carla Suárez Navarro who beated Venus ( 2009 Aus Open). Actually there hasn't been any marked superiority in Female Tennis since Henin-Hardenne ex former N°1 retired. And this is also pretty argueable.

Exactly. It's more to do with their manly/ugly styles of play than their looks per se.

They play in such a masculine manner that they might as well be playing in the men's draw.

I really miss Henin, as she was one of the few players able to get the better of them on a regular basis, and without playing like a man.;)

Who gives a damn about styles of play as long as one can follow the rules? as I explained before it isn't exactly like the Williams are defeating all the other female players by playing "like a man" as you say. I understand you might not support them because of the certain way they play, but the Shrek calling and the dissing is quite disgusting.

wow, yep!

I bet Federer just won this anyway.

The French tennis player Mathieu Montcourt, the world No119, has died at the age of 24.

The website of French newspaper L'Equipe reported that the death of Montcourt had been confirmed by the French Tennis Federation's (FFT) technical director, Patrice Dominguez.

The cause of death is unknown, although the radio station RMC have reported that Montcourt had suffered a pulmonary embolism.

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) is expected to release a statement later today.

Montcourt reached the second round of this year's French Open, where he lost to Radek Stepanek.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about, I'm afraid.:smug:

With the exception of Henin, who was an amazingly talented player, the Williams "brothers" have generally come out on top against the rest of the players when they've been fully-fit and fully -motivated over the years (especially in the slams).

The general consensus is that the "brothers" would have been even more dominant if they had totally dedicated themselves to the tour instead of often playing only "part-time".

It's the "experts" who have been saying this, so it's perfectly plausible. This Wimbledon is a perfect example. Both of them were totally focused, and look what happened.;)

They are when they are fully determined, focused, fit and motivated.;)

And if women aren't in any way feminine (as those two aren't), you might as well just have a "mixed" competition.;)

I understand you might not support them because of the certain way they play, but the Shrek calling and the dissing is quite disgusting.

No - it's very appropriate, in fact, so you'll just have to get used to it.:smug:

I'm gunna call Mark "Ugly Cunt" from now on, it's very appropriate so you'll just have to get used to it

I thought you were already doing that.

And those pics of Federer as a child are adorable! I want to see more tennis players as kids. I heard Andy Roddick used to practice tennis with the Williams sisters since they were 11 years old.

I thought you were already doing that.

Yup - and it's the kind of obscene language that helped get him banned, too.:smug:

Maybe he can set a new record by becoming the first-ever double "bannee"...................

I personally don't see any of the Williams getting on the top of female's competition (despite of what you say the experts say) just because they're not continuous at all (Just as the rest of the active best female players). That's why lately the women competition is so tied between all these players. And of course the Williams can be fully motivated and totally focused (just as the the other female players) but you must remember that they're humans and just because they have a lot of technique and capacities to be N°1, it just takes way more than that to be on top of the others.

I would totally support you on this- I believe it's very appropiate, I would also call Mark an Ugly cunt. :)

No. It's common knowledge that neither of them has played anywhere near as many tournaments as their rivals, and match fitness counts for a lot. Therefore they have lost on several occasions when they were simply lacking in "matches".

The only reason Safina is still number one in the world is because she has played in (and won) tournaments which didn't feature the "brothers".

That's why Shrek was making fun of her during her post-match press conference.

You really do need to keep up..................................

But what is really appropriate is to point out that you should learn how to spell proper English words like "appropriate" before you start resorting to profanities.:smug:

Fed as a child :)

Those are such cute pictures

Gosh that is so sudden and shocking. I remember watching him during the French Open just a month ago, and now he's gone. So young.

Not again..

Well what do you expect when there are trolls around.......................

I forgot to change the title of thread :P Sorry, sorry!

*goes change* :escaping:

T.T Mathieu.... I saw him play a few years ago against Monfils for the Bennie Berthet day at RG (just before the beginning of the tournament). They were fooling around, doing amazing game and pass. It was funny and impressiv...! Can't believe he's gone! Too young to die.

Gosh, he died? :stunned:

Yeah, he was found dead outside at the door of his flat....

To think that a tennis player who is physically fit would die so suddenly and without warning.

Just goes to show that you can never really tell if somebody is fit and healthy or not.

Athletes are no exception.;)

I know I'm late a few days but I wasn't at home so I couldn't come here.

I'm really happy because Zimonjić and Nestor won. I watched only some parts of the match, though.

I didn't watch the whole Roddick vs Federer match either, but the 5th set was just amazing! I felt really sorry for Roddick. Both of them were playing very good.
