yeah i was pretty surprised at the 15 jacket too. federer constantly goes on about how records arent everything to him and then he dons a jacket with the number 15 embroidered on it. i really hope it was Nike thing and Roger had no say in it.

i understand andy's frustration but in that last set roger never looked like he was going to lose the match, i've seen alot of his matches where you look at the final scorecard and it looks like a really tight match but you actually watch it and you'll see that he maintains control over the match the entire time. i feel sorry for andy too, this is the best tennis he has ever played, lets hope he continues to play like this for a couple more years so he can win his second grand slam and get the recognition he deserves.

i know the final set was 16-14 but i still think the nadal federer final was superior. hard to explain why.

eh, i dont give a fack whether Federer had anything to do with the 15 or the pre-made commercials. he earned it.

anyways :shy:, just poppin' in to say

YES FEDERER!!!!!

YOU'RE AWESOME!

and roddick is cool too and he did a good job.

REPRESENTIN AUSTIN TEXAS BABY.

I was there and had pretty much tears in my eyes,heart-broken by the fact I couldnt see Murray in final and because my next favourite lost too.

what a close game. i just was glad as it was over.

both should have won this final.

standing ovations please :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I feel really bad for Roddick. He was in almost perfect form. His serves were consistent throughout the match. In contrast, Federer was missing his first serves a lot. There were points in the game where I truly thought that Roddick would win. Watching Roddick almost break down during the prize ceremony was heartbreaking.

However, congratulations to Federer and history has been made!

Fed is always the best :smug2:

I was so sad for Roddick. He played his heart out

Both of them played really well. Anyway, it's really cool to see Fed wins his 16th Grand Slam though :cool2:

It was yet another fantastic men's final - almost as good as last year's - and more than made up for yet another pointless women's final.

Roddick couldn't have played any better on the day, and came out of that match with immense credit.

With that win, nobody can deny Fed is the greatest player of all time, and it was great that Laver, Borg and Sampras were all present to see history being made.

Fed gave a great interview on the BBC a few hours later, too.:D

Actually, it was his 15th slam................................. ;)

Totally agree. Although Federer won the championship, I think they were evenly matched. It was basically a tie. If Andy had moved one of the points he won in the first set to the 5th set (making the first set 6-7 instead of 5-7), he would have won the championship. He just got the order of operations wrong.

But now Federer and Nadal have someone else to be scared about, and that makes me happy. Plus Andy has the hotter wife, so he wins by default. :D

^So all-in-all, the men's tour keeps going from strength to strength, while the women's plunges further and further down the toilet. If the Williams brothers aren't stopped soon, the WTA will suffer irreparable damage.:dozey:

Mark, from what I know you're not exactly a model. What's the point there with dissing the Williams for their look?

I don't think Mark's dissing them for their looks, he's just pointing out that they're so far superior to the other women playing tennis that they might as well be men. And frankly, it gets a little boring when any player dominates a sport so much.

It's part of the reason I don't get the Federer fans. I mean, it's great that he's won so many titles. But now what? I don't watch tennis to see people kiss their reflection in a trophy. I watch it for the awesome plays, the drama, the nail-biting close scores. That's why I loved seeing Roddick come back, because there was a story to his return - he got a new coach, changed his play style, etc. It would have been much more fun to see Roddick or Murray win Wimbledon this year.

But as long as Federer is happy, I guess that's all that matters. ;)

yeah

nicely said by the way;)

it really would have been good to see someone knew win in womens and men

I think a lot of the excitement is over now that he's broken the record. I mean, even before that most people were convinced that he is the greatest player of all time. and now that he's broken through the roof there's nowhere exciting for him to go now, other than getting more and more ridiculous. He's a freak of nature, but as beautiful as it is to watch him play, I can't see myself rooting for him in a future final unless I truly dislike the guy he's playing.

Oh come on, Fed is retiring sooner than we all think.

If you don't like him, just ignore him.

I'm still waiting patiently for Roddick to win another Grand Slam and maybe a rivalry between both, Murray and Rod.

Exactly. It's more to do with their manly/ugly styles of play than their looks per se.

They play in such a masculine manner that they might as well be playing in the men's draw.

I really miss Henin, as she was one of the few players able to get the better of them on a regular basis, and without playing like a man.;)

And frankly, it gets a little boring when any player dominates a sport so much.

That's also true, of course.

I would have preferred Murray to win, but I would still delighted to see Fed beat Sampras's "slam" record - and you only had to hear what the likes of Sampras, Borg and Laver thought about it to realise how much respect everyone has for him.;)

Roddick injured his hip during the Wimbledon finals and has pulled out of the Davis Cup quarterfinals.

Not too sure if this means he'll still play if the US advances to the semis though.

What a pity!

whoa, was it from that slip? didn't think it hurt him that much...it might've really affected the match if its still bothering him.
