February 2, 200917 yr Author lol I literally can't get to work. The buses are off,the trains are off and I can't even get through to work on the phone. My last attempt at contacting them was through email so maybe someone might be in.I'm pretty sure they won't be open if loads of staff are off.

Matthew Wright walked in to work, so why couldn't you??:P
February 2, 200917 yr 6 miles in the snow?! NO THANK YOU. :p With that kind of attitude, no wonder the country's going to the dogs.......................
February 2, 200917 yr I heard about this on the news and first i was "Mwaha, enjoy your snow, silly people!" but then i realized how annoying it must be when it snows for days and no transport is working properly
February 2, 200917 yr I heard about this on the news and first i was "Mwaha, enjoy your snow, silly people!" but then i realized how annoying it must be when it snows for days and no transport is working properly Well I reckon in Finland it must make the news when it doesn't snow!!:P
February 2, 200917 yr It started snowing again. It doesn't really affect me because I live in the city but I still used it as excuse.
February 2, 200917 yr It started snowing again. It doesn't really affect me because I live in the city but I still used it as excuse. Ha! So you've caught the "sickie" bug too!!:stunned:
February 2, 200917 yr It's some stupid module in uni. You're supposed to attend 80% of the lectures unless you've got a reason why you can't come in.
February 2, 200917 yr Well I reckon in Finland it must make the news when it doesn't snow!!:P True. I get depressed if the snow melts away and it doesn't snow for a few days. It's just so dark and depressive. Snow and cold temperatures are so much more fun!
February 2, 200917 yr True. I get depressed if the snow melts away and it doesn't snow for a few days. It's just so dark and depressive. Snow and cold temperatures are so much more fun! Agreed. But only if the sun's shining at the same time.;)
February 2, 200917 yr It's some stupid module in uni. You're supposed to attend 80% of the lectures unless you've got a reason why you can't come in. yeah. first day of semester B here and i was supposed to have my first lectures, all cancelled
February 2, 200917 yr how much snow did you guys get? my friend studying at cambridge posted pictures of what she got, and it was like an inch, and i laughed that only an inch of snow halted everything . how much did everyone else get? i know it doesn't snow as much in england as it does where i'm from, and that it's snowing less in recent years over there, but we get feet of snow dumped on us overnight and the world still runs :P. i just wonder what to expect for next year.
February 2, 200917 yr It has been pretty light here, but just looked outside and there's like 5 inches of it, seemingly from nowhere. Is coming down fast. :stunned: Maybe a day off work tomorrow  :P
February 2, 200917 yr Yes but like you said, your city is used to getting masses of snow, so you are prepared to deal with it when it comes around and have measures in place, it would be inefficient for us to have such measures as it very rarely happens where it is bad enough to cause problems
February 2, 200917 yr oh yes, i know. i was just wondering, so i know how to compare it, since new england weather is a lot like UK weather minus the snow factor. 5 inches is getting towards pretty sufficient for things to shut down for a while, though, even for here, though until it's like a foot of accumulation, it's all cleaned up in a matter of two hours and schools and workplaces still go on running :dozey: i'm glad for all you that like snow that you're FINALLY getting some :P. we've gotten tons this year, and it's getting a bit boring, but i suppose it's nicer for you if you haven't really seen much at all this season. at the beginning of the season i think i'll never say that i want spring, but by february i'm sick of all the snow and digging out my car from a snowdrift every week.
February 2, 200917 yr It's fine by me....as long as it has cleared up by the 18th :P Us Brits are pathetic though, we can't cope with anything extreme weather wise :dozey:
February 2, 200917 yr Us Brits are pathetic though, we can't cope with anything extreme weather wise :dozey: It's just an excuse really. I got to work early today, says it all.
February 2, 200917 yr haha, well besides the cold, snow, and ice (which i love lots of as long as it's in the months of december and january), i can't handle extreme weather either :P. if it gets above 80 degrees F i can't deal, and i don't know HOW people live in the south of the US with hurricanes, or the midwest with tornadoes, or california with forest fires :stunned:. it's too extreme and too dangerously upredictable for me.
