Ok, that's one of my favorite songs, but seeing it done acoustic is just *wrong.* That song needs the whole band with him, Will's drums, Jonny's guitar, Guy's bass...Chris and a piano, nope just doesn't work for me. The Hardest Part acoustic works, Lost? works, LIT2, nope, not at all...It's like he's naked up there (Tracey, shut up). And Chris with a beard like that instead of just a little scruff - nope, ick...all just my little ol' opinion, but definitely not one of my favorite videos.

And I *NEVER* have anything negative to say - goes to hide now...

I can't believe you used the words "Chris" and "ick" in the same sentence. But, then again, it took me years to realize my feelings for him.

I think you know about the Lost versions, but it doesn't hurt repeating them. Lost! is the VLV album version with the hip hop beat and clap; Lost? is the acoustic version; and Lost+ is with Jay-Zee.

Lost! is my favorite because of Chris' presentation of it with his proud display of his athletic prowess and extremely sensual dancing. I'm also fascinated by his spinning in a circle like a whirling Dervish in LIJ and other songs. He's intoxicating to watch.

And I should know. I'm a member of the Lost! thread at

Gatwick Express brings you into Victoria Station which is Central London and quite good. The train takes around 45 min. to London.

Let's say from gatwick we wanna go to a hotel in Wembley, how long is that trip? Would we take the train or tube?

My husband's favorite Coldplay song is Lost! I love the acoustic version. Neither of us is too much a fan of hip-hop or rap, so we didn't care much for the Lost+.

I heard an acoustic version of Clocks a few weeks back which I didn't much care for. It didn't even sound like the same song! The acoustic version of the Hardest Part is so beautiful. I play piano and bought the book of Coldplay Singles and B-sides which contains the Hardest Part. It's beautiful, but the arrangement is for guitar, piano and vocals, so I have to do some work to make it sound right. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the version Chris did in concert? Also, I would like to get a copy of Postcards From Far Away.

Hi, Sdcoldplayfan! I see you were at Sleep Train as well on 7/14/09, as I was.

Wasn't that a great show? For me, it was a magical night I will never forget. I have a playlist of it, with a few other live clips added at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7278399C57085D21

My Youtube channel is a work in progress to accumulate all things Coldplay. It is my life work right now.

Also, Youtube has many videos that show how to play Coldplay songs on piano. For me, that's another lifelong dream: to play Coldplay's music on keyboard or piano if I'm ever able to own one.

Hi Stafish42 - I'm sort of a neophyte when it comes to this social networking - I actually haven't been to YouTube. :) Anyway, I will go take a look.

Yes, we went to the concert in Sacramento. It was the 2nd concert of our "Coldplay Tour" that we went on this summer (three concerts). It was fabulous! I think it was the best vacation I have ever had! The concerts were so much fun. As I recall, it was such a nice night in Sacramento - after the sun went down. We had seats with a good view, but they were pretty far back. It was a fabulous night!

Right, I was saying that The Hardest Part "works" acoustically, so does Lost?, but LIT2 just doesn't have the same impact when it is played acoustically. I actually like all 3 versions of Lost. Lost+ with JayZ is powerful when he lists some of the important figures in African-American history (well, he could have left off Bobby Brown).

Lost! live is amazing, and I love how they Chris and Guy go to stand with Will and his drumkit. I have a few good pics of them with Will  Chris is almost hiding behind Will in one of the pics.

Chris is very cute but he looks way better with less facial hair. The lastest pics of Jonny have him looking really scruffy - I'd love to see him clean shaven, he has beautiful eyes that I think get lost behind his beard.

I suppose I'll be spending my day watching youtube videos. I can't really leave the house today. Our bamboo floor in our living room warped and they are demo'ing it and replacing it today and tomorrow. Jackhammers, power chisels, shop vacs, it's a loud dusty mess.

Speaking of "different" songs, have you heard the version of Clocks by Rhythms del Mundo Cuba? It's got a Cuban beat with horns and all, and a Cuban guy lipsynching Chris. lol

You'd take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station. Then to get directly to Wembley, you'd take the Jubilee line. But you don't yet know where your hotel is, so I'm sure you'd want to go there first :)

I can't believe you used the words "Chris" and "ick" in the same sentence. But, then again, it took me years to realize my feelings for him.

Sorry, Reggie...Of course, I would never use the words "Will" and "ick" in the same sentence. lol

So what's the guess for when it will be rescheduled? I have an airplane voucher that expires April 14 and I wanna go to the concert so if it happens before then I can use my voucher!

I live in Miami "Little Habanna" , of course I heard that version. They were playing it on the radio the other day. It is ok. But Clocks is one of my favorite Coldplay songs, no one can come close to the original version. I love it when they play it live. It is my favorite LRLRL track.

Hopefully the concert will be reschedule before that. (knock on wood)

Come on Chris version of that song was not that bad. And he looks good with a beard, not greeat, but good, ... he looks older. Did you notice those girls on the audience right next to him. They are not even paying attention to the performance. They are more worry about the camera filming them. I hate them . What a waste  We should had been there instead of them ;)

Clocks is what got me into Coldplay, it's my favorite song. I first saw that video on VH1 or something, I was in the other room when I heard it come on and of course, I got all excited. Then it totally freaked me out when I walked into the room and some very dark dude has Chris's voice coming out of his mouth. lol

Clocks live is just the best - I love everything about, how Guy's bass is just turned up a bit more, the way Chris just rocks that piano stool (you like that, doncha Tracey? :wideeyed: )...and of course, Will's beats...sigh...I have uh, 8 versions of Clocks on my ipod - drives my kids nuts. lol

Agreed. It's one of my favorite tracks, too... Somehow, other versions just don't come close to the original, as you said.

Oh there was nothing wrong with the way he sang it, but it's just a song that should not be an acoustic song - completely changes it. He looks much younger without all that hair - he looks really young with his new haircut. I love Will with a beard, but I still think Jonny should shave his off.

And boo to those girls - front rows should not be wasted on non-diehard fans. There should be a fan-o-meter that rates you when you buy tickets, so real fans get up front. ha ha ha :laugh3:

This is from the Bern concert tonight, 9/2. He looks like a baby here...oh so young looking. Tracey - stay away from the cradle.

Chris does look strikingly beautiful in the pic you posted of the Bern concert tonight. He's a natural beauty. I love the bright color in his face. I wish I knew his secrets for always looking so good, to the extent that he can control it and lives a healthy life. I know Gwenyth posts many health related topics on her web site http://www.goop.com. She posted an interesting detox diet a few months ago, and I wondered if Chris follows healthy practices like that. Chris Martin is someone has a lot of charisma and knows how to flaunt it in front of thousands in concerts, or millions on TV.

As for those girls at the French NRJ music awards, I remember them, and I thought they were very cute and looked to me as if they were completely enchanted by seeing Chris perform.

I agree that LIT2 works much better with the full band and with Chris' singing it with guitar. I was blown away when I first saw their performance of it on Top of the Pops New Year's Eve. I was very impressed by the subtle expressions in Chris' eyes when he sang that.

Lost? sounds so different from Lost! that yesterday when I heard it, I had to think twice because at first I didn't even recognize what song it was. I like the sound of the piano in Lost? a lot. Lost! has a definite sense of excitement which Chris expresses beautifully with his sensual Lost! dance in live concerts.

Wow, he looks like 20 in that picture. I wish I could look 10 years younger just by cutting my hair. :laugh3:

Same for me. Clocks was the song that got me into Coldplay. I remember the first time I heard it was on a 2003? HBO promo for the new upcoming movies. I think one of them was the first Spiderman movie.

I have an airplane voucher with United that is good for a year beginning 8/14/09. I don't have a concert ticket, though, and do not plan to go unless I can get a floor or pit ticket.

It was a nice night in Wheatland. It had been 104 on the way to Sacramento, it had cooled to 94 when we arrived at the venue, and by the time the sun went down, there was a nice breeze. We got seats right behind the pit, so we had a good view of the band. It was an enchanted evening for us.

I respect that you are definitely a die-hard Coldplay fan to make a vacation out of following them around as much as you have. I have seen clips of the SLC concert, and it was great. That's quite a long way from San Diego, as is Washington.

If you need any help finding Coldplay piano tutorials on Youtube, let me know and I will be happy to help.

What does 42 mean?

I wanted to share my post about 42...

After thinking about it some more, this is my feeling about the song:

42 sounds like someone who survived a battle, in which he lost many of his friends. We find a soldier, grieving for the loss of his fellow soldiers. He misses them but realizes that they live on inside his head: they are not dead. He "fell for that spell," absorbed in his thoughts of them.

He talks to them, saying, "You might be a ghost..." He is dealing with the loss and futility of war. This is a carryover of the miltaristic theme of the VLV. "Violet Hill," expresses a rebellion against the "idiots", the leaders who send others into war for their own purposes. "I don't want to be a soldier for a captain on whose shipwrecked ship is stowed, far below."

A soldier stowed far below will go down with the ship.

42 ties in with the overall theme of the album, to live life to its fullest and to not follow Death and all his friends.

Viva La Vida!
