And this is what happens when the curtain doesn't fall smoothly. LittleMissMessy tweeted that the curtain fell on Chris and he stopped singing Violet Hill.

He shouldn't have stopped! :laugh3:

That curtain is way too much, honestly.

For those who haven't seen it yet, what a nice surprise they had for the ending of the Stockholm concert!

YouTube - Coldplay Stockholm Stadion 2009-08-22 life in technicolor ii The end

Coldplay has managed to keep their show as a total spectacle. To enhance the experience for some 33,000 people, it seems to have been well worth the extra expense.

:shocked2: :o :stunned: :wideeyed: :D

FIREWORKS!!!!

They better bring fireworks to Tampa! :sneaky:

Yes sir, they need to go above and beyond for us :smug:

Very cool about the dream....the 10th would be nice...it wouldn't conflict with the U2 concert the night before at Raymond James Stadium...! not a bad weekend if that happens..

That would be the best weekend EVER!

Actually, the best week ever since The Killers are coming on Oct 2

Yay for U2 on October 9th! :dance::dance:

That was a major flub on LIT at the Hannover concert. For one thing, the bright white lights were on by the end of the song, and it appears as if the curtain was never correctly deployed in the first place.

So, is the black scrim actually supposed to fall like that? It's a wonder that it ever works correctly! Chris, poor guy was probably embarrassed and rightfully perturbed to have such a dramatic and carefully planned opening go so wrong. What a disappointment that must have been for the audience as well.

In the clip of the Stockholm concert, I saw the stage crew scrambling to remove the screen from the stage at the beginning of "Violet Hill," after it descended. In the concert I attended, I did not even notice the black screen after it fell because it was still very dark in the background, the spotlight shining only on Chris as he stood out in the front, singing "Violet Hill." So, the stage crew could have removed it from the stage and I just didn't see them.

I did notice in my concert that Chris had to say, "Lights up, Lights up!" when he began singing "In My Place" to remind the technicians.

LIT behind the scenes

A little slow in places, and the sound dies during the last couple minutes, but an interesting behind the scenes look at the LIT opening.

It is funny that just a couple of days ago we were talking about how well organized and "perfect" everything is in the "revealing" process. And Yesterday, at the Hannover gig ,that black scrim fall in top of their heads :)

Did you guys read this blog?

I find it hilarious :laugh3: from Rd42

"For the majority of the European stadium shows, the band are spending the days off at home with their families. Being as I live outside of London, I'm booked into the same London hotel room for the whole month. It's a very spiffy hotel and an excellent room, but all is not well. As any regular traveller will know, failing to observe the Do Not Disturb sign is one of the most basic but heinous crimes a hotel can commit.

Now, getting in at 2am and then winding down for an hour or so, means rising late by normal standards if you want a good night's sleep. Therefore, after several knocks on my (Do Not Disturb adorned) door, followed by a 9am phone call from housekeeping to say "When can we clean your room? Your DND is on." I finally get up with the Mr. Grumpy head on.

I politely inform the gent on the reception desk that unless the hotel is on fire, I really do not wish to be - erm, well - disturbed. No towels, no turndown service, no nothing. I'm very easy to look after indeed. Just give me a bed, a kettle and some wi-fi and I'm happy.

I can't help thinking as I make my way back to the lift, that I've maybe got off on the wrong foot with them. After all, I'm going to be here for another five weeks. The benefit of hotel living though, is anonymity. I'm sure once the lift doors close, I'll just be another nameless body that's staying in the building.

I get back to my room and text Andy Rugg, the band's studio assistant at The Bakery. I need to get some files sent over in order to make some changes to the show at the next gig. He asks how the tour is going and an SMS conversation ensues:

"Any TVs out the window?"

"No, all the transvestites go straight to Franksy's room"

We continue on in this vein until we have created an entire imaginary scenario with a boy band called "Franksy and the Transvestites" who will have this years Christmas number one with a single whose name I probably shouldn't repeat in polite company such as this.

We also manage to organise the job that needs doing and he promises to burn the files to DVD and have them biked across town.

Some hours later, I'm sat at my desk and hear a rustling under the door. Having instructed the front desk not to phone, knock or otherwise disturb me, their only option for contact is pushing a note under the door.

On rather posh headed note-paper, I read the following:

"Dear Sir, A courier has arrived and has delivered two DVDs marked "Franksy and The Transvestites XXX Xmas Special". Please collect them from Concierge when you are able".

Plainly, Ruggsy has handed the disks straight to the courier and they are sitting downstairs with the comedy label clearly readable. I emerge from the lift into reception and am greeted by smirking faces all round. The concierge hands me my disks and wishes me happy viewing.

I head back for the lift feeling somewhat less annonymous... "

He may be all those things, but I completely envy his job. I wish I could work for Coldplay in any capacity, no matter how humble, that would allow me to be around Chris Martin as much as possible.

Kick off performance of VLV tour.

This was the kick off performance of Viva La Vida at the free concert at the BBC on June 18, 2008. I remember hearing this and how excited I felt at how new and fresh it all felt. This was the beginning of the VLV tour. On 9/19/09, Coldplay will play it at the last show of the VLV tour, ending where it all began in London, at Wembley stadium.

Surprisingly, most of today's concert setlist remains unchanged from this initial concert.

Okay... is this quoted from somewhere else, or is this just you writing this? If it is "official" I would take this to mean that the tour is ending on September 19th in London. As in "not just this leg of the tour, but the entire tour." Which of course would mean that Tampa will NOT be rescheduled and there will not be a Latin America leg of the tour in 2010. True? If so, please site a source. Thanks!

Not to worry. I have not heard anyone say that Wembley will be the official end of the concert tour. I say this, based on the fact that Coldplay toured Latin America, playing the X&Y concert after many months while they were working on Viva La Vida. In fact, that is where they gathered much of the material for VLV, including the album's name, which is not in any of the lyrics. Therefore, Wembley must be the last show of this leg of the tour. Based on their extended schedule for playing X&Y, I believe it might be many more months before they resume in Latin America, even next year. No one has said that they won't make good on Tampa by adding it to their list of concerts then. For one thing, I think they must need R&R before heading off for another continent to perform their concert marathon. Coldplay's X&Y 2007 Latin American tour occurred some two years after their release of X&Y in mid-2005. :) The VLV Latin tour may well occur in 2010.

Hey, I haven't been here in awhile. So what's our assumption to when this concert will be postponed to? Or possibly cancelled?

Who the frick knows...it's been almost 3 weeks and nothing. Even a "thanks for your patience, we're working on it," would be something. I emailed the Oracle - but I'm sure she won't say anything until an official announcement is made. If you want a refund, you can call LiveNation, and I'm sure by now, they'll process one. I'm not willing to give up hope yet - my ticket is paid for, so I don't need the refund yet. I'm working on building up my miles again, though, just in case.

I would definitely not give up your pit ticket. That's precious! I wish they were still selling tix, I might even buy the "orchestra" seats" though it's impossible to plan without knowing the date.

BTW, did you happen to see what the "orchestra" seats look like? Would they have good views? Remember, they were the three little dots at the back of the floor that you could not see unless you zoomed in on the pick 'n click seating chart?

The pit was filled with chairs so it was hard to distinguish where those three dots would be. I'm just feeling the more time that goes by, the less likely the show will go on. Three weeks is long time with no word.

Don't give up hope! It's not over until they say it is!

Hey Marcus, nice shout out from Anchorman today. That thread was crazy today. So I watched a show I'd recorded tonight. I never watch MTV Hits but for some reason it was on the tv when my recorded show ended. And what should be on but Latest and Greatest with coldplay. First was Viva and then was Yellow. I don't even think I've ever seen Yellow on tv. I watch everything on my computer. Anyway, it gave me a small glimmer of hope. Lol

Don't give up hope! It's not over until they say it is!

It's not over until the man with curly blond hair from Devon sings!

Interesting Coldplay trivia:

Martin was raised in Whitestone, Devon and attended Exeter Cathedral School. It was at the prep school that Martin formed his first band. After Exeter Cathedral, Martin boarded at Sherborne School, a boys' independent school in Dorset. At Sherborne, Martin started a blues band called The Rockin' Honkies. Their debut performance was met with boos from the crowd.

Who would have guessed it?

Well, Mr Curly Blond Hair now has a haircut that is barely a step above a buzz cut - he's almost taking after Will now. :P And Tracey, I bet you love it. ha ha.

Years and years ago, like in the early 80s, I saw the Rolling Stones in concert. Huge stadium show, I think it was at the LA Coliseum, which holds 90,000 for football games. And Prince was their opening band. People threw things at Prince, cups, food, etc, and he got pissed and left the stage and didn't come back. It was kind of sad, and I felt bac for Prince, but he didn't let that get him down and he didn't give up. I'm so not a Prince fan, but to come back from being humilated like that was impressive.

Ugh Mike Tyson is on Conan right now.

Okay, thanks.

I'm actually thinking that the longer we are delayed in hearing an answer, the better our chances are of having this show rescheduled. Not that it wouldn't be nice to hear some sort of official word, though.... just a "we ARE working on rescheduling" message would be much appreciated!

I saw Mike too Dianne!!! I like Conan they mentioned Gwyn in his "What would celebrities say"

People, don't give up the ship about Tampa, I believe, I Believe, I Believe:santa::santa:

I can't believe tho, Mr. Martin has gone Military!!!:veryangry2: I want my curls back, I wonder if the person who cut's his hair, gathers it up and put's it in a baggie... I would:P

I am keeping my sec. 8 tickets for now, WHEN the concert is re-scheduled I will get my refund and try to get pit or closer than 8, hope I don't get screwed and get worse:veryangry2:

Yesterday's blog was crazy, but I was at work, with nothing to do so it passed the time, I hope Miller wasn't too upset with all the "Stupid" emails about seeing butt and so on pics. I just asked 2 times about the Tampa show, but got no response:inquisitive:

Dianne, those pics I sent didn't come out as well as the web ones, but I wanted ya to have some to look at while you were soaking up the ray's at the beach:wink3:

Maybe Chris's stylist is saving it for Locks of Love (or else it's in a baggie marked Tracey). ha ha

I'm keeping my tickets, and just waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

I only sent Anchorman 2 emails - one asking for a C/J picture, and one asking for Jonny without his cap. Those people yesterday were crazy, I skimmed through all the pages when I got home.

Thanks for the texted pics. I couldn't open a couple of them, the cell phone reception at the beach is really bad, but I got the one of Will, so that's the most important. I was able to dl the others once I got back to the car. It was a gorgeous day, but the waves were huge due to an offshore hurricane down near Mexico. We're in the midst of a heatwave - forecast is 104 here today. It's also fire season with several large wildfires burning in the Los Angeles area. One is in the vicinity of my dad's. They're not in any danger, but the smoke is really bad and road usage is limited. 1200 people were evacuated last night :(

Mike Tyson is just ew. And the tatoo'd face doesn't help him out at all. The guy took a few too many blows to the head.

I myself think Chris looks neat with a buzz cut though he is a definitely a beauty with his curly blond locks. It's the rest of him that counts, don't you think?

A word of advice: don't refund your tix until you have the new ones in hand. For one thing, if too many people refund, the producers may make a business decision to cancel the show based upon the economics. Secondly, you might not be able to get new tix quickly enough to secure better seats than what you have now.
