I was listening to satellite radio today and in the music new part they said

"coldplay bassist Guy Berryman and his side project called apparatijik release a free single today on their website apparatijik.com its nothing like coldplays sound but its very interesting"

and it mentioned something about their crazy website and apparatichicks :P

i was like freaking out in the car!

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times, but can anyone point out to me a specific time in the song in which Guy is definitely singing? Because I'm just really stupid and can't tell. Thanks in advance! :heart:

while i definitely don't want to shoot down this band before it's even gotten started, did anyone think this was a little bit like a bad radiohead impression.

 

this is sort of funny to say, because so many people call coldplay (i consider them very different) that, but the whole sort of...out there mind fuck is a little bit radiohead really from ok computer, kid a and amnesiac. maybe i'm just grouping too simply too.

 

regardless of any of that, i always remember hearing about particular squabbles within the band about song direction, and i am sort of wondering if perhaps this indicates some of guy's more personal interests in music. the sort of radiohead oddness. too be honest i always guessed (with no real reason to believe this) that guy would be more for harder rock formula. idk.

Um... it honestly wasn't that much like Radiohead, if you ask me. A lot of prog-rock or whatever sounds like this. It isn't all a copy of Radiohead.

yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. Sure it MAY sound like Radiohead a WITTLE bit but I think that's only because Radiohead and the "radiohead sound" have influenced modern music in general a lot. Like, the genre. you know.

There's a lot of vocal enhancements and manipulations in the song so really, he could've sang at any point in the song...even the high part at the beginning! :laugh3:

Just watch the music video!!! You see who is singing when! Sometime when several of them are singing, their faces are mixed together. At the beginning Guy+Mags...after that Jonas+Martin etc.... Just watch ;)

It still doesn't look like any of the other boys besides Guy when it morphs. Then it looks like some weird mix of faces, but not of Jonas, Mags, or Martin. Maybe I'm just blind. :shame:

Really?? It's pretty obvious to me though... At 51->54: it's Guy+Mags then it's switch to Martin+Jonas (and maybe Guy too) then to 1min07 -> 1min20 Martin(+Guy I guess). Jump to 1min 28: BerryMags XD then Guy alone to 1min 40 etc...

 

For the Jonas/Martin, look at the eye, you can recognize easily Jonas' eye shape.

That's the problem that I'm having. I can imagine Guy singing in the Goldrush, but this is very different. :lol:

At the very least it's a mix of Guy & Magne's voices blended together. Dunno if it's all four voices together in some places...could be.. :thinking:

 

Anyway Lauren, look for when the face has quite gingery hair...that's Jonas/Martin ;)
