Music You've Just "Discovered"

Gold Heart Assembly

A new-ish London band - I heard them played on the radio this morning. They were likened to Fleet Foxes by the dj but they're not quite as full on beardy folk as Fleet Foxes - they're a bit more upbeat and more rocky on a few tracks.

Listening to the myspace songs right now...liking The Jesus Wheel very much.

I couldn't find many youtube links -but this is a nice track...

"They take a joyous acoustic beardy bunch of ideas and mess around with them like a cat playing with a ball of string. Already you could easily put them out on tour supporting Fleet Foxes or The Low Anthem (now there's an idea). And they smile at each other on stage - which is so out of character for new bands these days (unless it's a nervous tick) that it's actually quite infectious." Steve Lamacq

I recently discovered Zechs Marquise. It consists of purely instrumental music, that I couldn't describe clearly in a few words, but let's say it sounds like keyboard/guitar driven rock, with a few strange uses of other instrument.

They only released one album, Our Delicate Stranded Nightmare, off which the last song, Our Delicate Midnight Opera is a complete masterpiece.

Sonic Youth! I'd been meaning to give them a chance for a while and I am so glad I did, Daydream Nation is such a brilliant album, starts off with an amazing track in "Teen Age Riot" and it just keeps going at that pace, one great track after the other. I've only listened to it a few times and I already love it, it might take a bit more to grow on you, but listen!

I am so glad I found the editors, cant believe I hadn't heard of them before, too!

Arcade Fire

Super Furry Animals' new album, Dark Days/Light Years. Hilarious, I forgot about them completely.

A great new find. Has that 70s rocky/bluesy feel to it that I absolutely loved.

They have a new album out too; "The Satanic Satanist", which I'm yet to get.

I can't post a link here but if anyone's interested, I'd be happy to help.

oh and {{{ Sunset }}} no other new discoveries in a while..

bored of discovering

i am satisfied of the bands i already know

I went to the zoo yesterday and one of the zookeepers told me about this band, "Abraham the Poor," while I was at the butterfly exhibit. I'm listening to them now and they're actually kinda cool, I guess. I like bands that have that desert-y, folksy, feel to them and this has got that.

I've actually just got into Radiohead, Mew, and Arctic Monkeys

The Airborne Toxic Event.

I am so jamming to this cd right now. :P

Very recently I got into the Strokes, I bought all of their cd's and they are just so amazing.

discovered this song a week ago or so. argh, it is soooo beautiful!

never heard of brooke fraser before, but i might check out her albums now.

Not really Recent, but the last band I discover was John Mayer Trio, and well however unband he is, John Mayer.

If you look past his poopy radio hits, he is a blues man tot he heart. He has a good voive and can play the guitar. He is a giant ball of talent!

Athlete. They're just TOTALLY amazing! :) I didn't know them until I discovered them just a few days ago! I only had to listen to their album "Tourist" once and I completely fell in love with their sound. Now I just can't wait to see them live as the support of Keane at the end of this month...

I've been listening to You Me At Six (another british band) and i like them quite alot.

Also putting in a good word for the Airborne Toxic Event-- fantastic!

I heard Passion Pit (To Kingdom Come) on the radio today & it was pretty good so I have just checked out a few more songs off their debut album via yootoob - sound like a good mix of Mew & Empire of The Sun to me

Might have to think about buying that one...
