Most Talented Frontman

Who is the most talented frontman?

Chris Martin

Thom Yorke (Radiohead)

Matt Bellamy (Muse)

Bono (U2)

My favorite isn't on this list. I guess I'll say Thom or Matt.

These are great questions, but I wish they were asked in a free response format as opposed to multiple choice. Anyhow, this might be one of the toughest questions ever. For me, I guess it would be Bono, who just happens to be on the list (also considered Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder). I am sure that we will get many responses that are different from the 4 choices that were provided.

Certainly you must consider names like Freddie Mercury or Mick Jagger. Although I like both the Rolling Stones and Queen, I am not a fanatic. Who you are exposed to and happen to like will greatly influence your choice.

I went with Thom because he is better than all of the other choices. :nice:

He certainly has more experience than Chris Martin, as well as writing deeper lyrics and so forth, and he's also better than Matt Bellamy because Radiohead > Muse any day, and additionally, Bono is not somebody I really like so I wouldn't vote for him.

I was thinking in terms of four of the biggest bands out today and that they are all quite similar in a way. I was looking for a comparison of these frontmen rather than of every frontman of all time. I would have to say freddy mercury also if that was the case! I voted Matt Bellamy on this one. As far as musical talent goes, he is in a league of his own in todays music world. In my opinion.

If you must choose from that list it's Thom Yorke hands down. He seems to have limitless talent at so many things

As with all these questions, one's definition greatly impacts the response. My definition of a great frontman is someone who has a big persona and can perform magnificently in front of a stadium audience. Oddly, musical ability only plays a small role in what I consider a great frontman because I almost take it as a given that he/she is going to be extremely talented if entered in the conversation.

In terms of pure talent I'm going to say Thom Yorke. He's a good guitar player, good piano player, good vocalist. Can do some real creative and different/experimental things (see The Eraser). Of those listed I think he has the most musical talent.

However I think that Bono is the best frontman of this group in terms of a performer. He can really connect with a crowd in a way that none of the above frontman can. Sure Chris Martin is a great performer/comedian/frontman and is fun to watch. But I don't think any of them come close to Bono in terms of engaging the crowd and really breaking that barrier between artist and performer.

It depends, Thom Yorke is a very talented guy, however, as a frontman he's not that great

^ Yeah, I've seen all 4 choices live with their respective bands and, even though I am a big Radiohead fan, I prefer Chris Martin to Thom Yorke as a frontman. It has nothing to do with who I think is more talented or produces better records.

Just watch the Live Aid performance with Queen. Freddie Mercury is larger than life and owns the stage/crowd. That's what makes a great frontman to me.

:laugh3: Freddy Mercury owns this thread, which therefore makes the poll null and void.

personally i think the best 3 frontman going around at the moment are Brian Molko, Brandon Flowers and Maynard James Keenan.

i couldnt pick from the 4 chosen in the poll. they are all great for different reasons.

^ I forgot about Brandon Flowers. I, too, think he is one of the better current frontmen. It is definitely a role he has grown into.

I don't follow Placebo. They are not very big in the U.S.

But MJK? I really like Tool and have seem them live. They put on a good show, but he is in the dark and stands in the back by the the drum kit. How can you be a great frontman if your not actually in "front?" It's actually in the title.

I cant vote! i cant decide between Chris:heart: and Bono:heart:!!:\

Who is the most talented frontman?

Chris Martin

Thom Yorke (Radiohead)

Matt Bellamy (Muse)

Bono (U2)

Hum what's your concept of a frontman?

how they behave on interviews?

how they talk with the audience on their concerts?

... a mix of both things?

any other....

Chris Martin is a GREAT frontman, in his prime, Bono was brill in his heyday.

I agree with Freddie Mecury, he is the greatest!!! Wheres Eddie Vedder??:P

Ditto... and yeah, Brandon Flowers too
