One thing you don't like about Coldplay?

Featured Replies

i don't like that it is so difficult to meet them on a concert day ;)

... but that's what comes with being so extremely famous.

The only thing I dislike is that they aren't as funny as they used to be, in my opinion. WHERE ARE THE FUNNY VIDEOS BOYS!!?? I'd like some more of those. I think that sometimes they're a little too serious. They should relax some more.

And now I'm going to contradict myself and say that the only other thing that irritates me is how long it takes them to release albums. I mean, I knwo why they do it, because they want to take their time and make it as good as it can be, but I really hate waiting such long periods for new music.

But I disagree with the people that say that Coldplay was a better band before. I think singing about love is a lovely thing, but love is just a drop in the emotional pond so to speak. A good band will start on love, but then progress to many other emotions, touching on fear, hope, lust, selfishness, anger, disgust, pain, sorrow, longing, and being peaceable and carefree. They can't just keep on singing love songs forever and ever. They'd end up at a musical standstill. Plus, I don't understand how anybody could think Chris is pretentious. I have never seen an interview to back up this claim.

SUPER MULTI-QUOTING AHEAD!

I heard them mentioning their intentions to play Politik but I don't know if they got around to it.

One thing I don't like is sometimes I feel like they aren't even playing the keyboards they have on stage for lovers in japan and Viva la vida. Just the fact that they try and make it look like they are bothers me.

Since when do they not play the keyboards for real? If you've ever watched the MTV World Stage thing on Palladia, Chris jumps back to the keyboard a couple seconds late during LIJ and thus for a split second you hear LIJ minus the keyboard and then you an clearly hear it start back up again once Chris gets to the keyboard.

One thing that I can't stand about Coldplay is the fact that when they visit my house when touring in Florida, that they don't clean up after themselves, they expect me to do everything.... Will is lazy, Guy tries to creep into my bathroom and snap pics, Jonny is always walking around in his boxers asking "Where is that damn remote?" and Chris, well, he is way too chipper in the mornings, he is soooo annoying!!!!

:laugh3:

You know what I hate about Coldplay?

The fact that Chris is the only one who gets tortured by the paparazzi. Now I love the others as much as the next gal, but doesn't anyone else think Chris should get a little bit of help? I really don't think it's fair he gets hounded by paps every day. Will, Guy, and Jonny...go put yourselves out there a bit! :snobby:

I agree. Or even better, I wish the paparazzi would just stop torturing Chris altogether. YES, he is married to a famous actress and YES it's so "weird:rolleyes:" that they want to keep theirn own business to themselves, and YES, shockingly, Chris gets really annoyed at the paparazzi stalking him all of the time, but who cares? I can't believe people are actually willing to make a living out of being that insanely annoying. Doesn't the guilt of ruining someone's evening eat away at them, or are they really that heartles?

I agree. But I like calling them an 'alternative group'. Maybe Parachutes was soft rock, but everything else is definitely heavier than that.

That's what I like to say. Coldplay is alternatve. All 4 of their albums have quite a different sound, and none of them are really comparable or can really be grouped together.

That the brilliant B sides don't have their own double, or triple CD.

^THIS!

The only thing I don't like is that Guy smokes...I just don't want him to get lung cancer or anything like that. He needs to be around for a long time to make more beautiful music with Chris,Will, and Jonny!

Ugh I know! Stop smoking Guy, seriosuly!:whip:

The only thing I hate is the perception in the press that it's "Chris Martin & the other three"

Yeah I always try to talk about all the members equally when I'm talking about Coldplay, because Coldplay is a band which consists of 4 members(plus Phil:P), and not of Chris Martin.

I hate that they became so popular. Years ago, I was the only one in my town who knew that Coldplay exists. Nowdays, everyone loves Coldplay for Viva la Vida, and honestly, that is my least favorite album. They used to be a funny, simple english rock band, who lived just for the music, now they want to be bigger, they try new things, but i'd prefer the old, full-of-life Coldplay.

And I don't like, that God is in the centre of VLV. In the Parachutes era, love was the main theme, but now? Nothing, just God and politics.

Only one thing:

People that claim that they love coldplay,

But they only like Viva la Vida.

Reason:

Because i ask people if they like Coldplay, and they answer yes, then they ONLY talk about Viva,Violet Hill and maybe Lost.

They might say Yellow but that's it.

I have not found ONE person that likes.. or better yet.. LOVEs coldplay the same way i do..

So i can't say theres something i don't like from the band.. just the popularity and mainstream issues.

Other than that...

That Chris is just insanely attractive :laugh3:

Warning: Long POST! :D

One thing I don't like about Coldplay is how much they changed. They used to be a GOOD, SIMPLE, English rock band and that was the reason so many people fell in love with them. Now it just seems they are trying to be something bigger than what was originally planned. I was looking back on all the old sites they used to have and realized they were just four college kids wanting to play some music. They have turned into what seems like a band who seems like they're too good to be true. They went from wearing t-shirts to tight pants and colorful jackets. I think that they feel they've earned their title and anything they make will be good no matter what. I also think this evidence is found in Chris. He used to keep his mouth shut about most things, but now he's ranting about it in a song. He used to sing about love. Now he sings about war, politics, and eerie things. Not that that is bad or anything. It's just strange to listen to Parachutes then Viva la Vida and think of the same band. It makes me sad to think I wasn't a fan during the parachutes era because that is the Coldplay I think of when I hear their music.

I kinda agree with you here, I liked the simple Coldplay with MTF t-shirts and all that stuff, but I'm thinking maybe this time the boys thought it would be fun to change that you know? Maybe for once, they would like to do something that they want and not care about what others think. They seem to enjoy wearing the uniforms, so that's great, I don't think they are doing it just get more famous or whatever, I know that's not what you said, but I'm just making a point :P.

And I've always though that Coldplay made songs about politics and war? AROBTTH is filled with it.

Coldplay never said they want to be bigger, they want to be better, that's what they always say :nice:!

Don't attack me or anything guys, just speaking my mind :D.

The only thing that annoys me is that they didnt do the mexican wave in Norway really, they seem to do "less" in Norway. I think they were amazing an all that, but somehow they do "more" at other concerts. I dont blame them though, Norwegians crowds are boring.

^^^ The last thing you said made me think of this tweet :

thedandy: Chris Martin's Coldplay bandmates are so anonymous that the FBI frequently insert people into the group under the witness protection program

One of the things I don't line about Coldplay (mainly just Chris) is the excess language in interviews, at times. He's a cool guy, but the language isn't needed all the time. JMO. :)

wayyyy too popular now.

absolutely

Sure, that sucks, but it inevitably happens... Look at U2, the Rolling Stones, many other bands actually :\

Yep that's no Coldplay phenomen - when I think of the downfall of Bon Jovi I can just break into laughter...

However Coldplay still have the chance to change with their fifth album.

Second thing I don't like: They gave away Lukas. Natalies voice is so awful.

^I didn't even listen this song !

Yep, but however their 5th album will sound, I don't think they can change... unless it's really crappy and nobody wants to listen to them anymore :P

I think a lot of people here are being way too critical.

The only thing I can think of that I really dislike is

how they collaborated with Jay-z and such.

One thing I don't like about Coldplay? Well three things

Lost+

getting Jay Z to support them and worst of all, getting Girls Aloud to support them. Horrific decision and I'm sure you all agree with me.

I agree with a lot of previous posters; the fact that they are so 'popular' now, even though a lot of the so-called fans only seem to like the songs off Viva + Fix You.

I'm getting tired of this VIVA era, and starting to miss old black-shirted Chris Martin :]

Fortunately for you, this era is, we could say that, over ...

And guys, I used to hate this collaboration with Jay-Z too, but since I saw him live/singing Lost+ with the guys, I totally changed my mind ! He's cool believe me, and I don't even like rap !

And I'm getting nervous, that Glass of Water isn't released single... :(

I'm getting tired of this VIVA era, and starting to miss old black-shirted Chris Martin :]

THIS!

I want back Coldplay as they were 3 - 4 years ago. :uhoh:

One thing that pisses me off is Chris Martin prancing around too much that he's too out of breath to finish a song properly. Can't he just play the guitar a little more often?
