July 14, 200916 yr well it's not like Coldplay are above copying people so they can't really complain lol
July 14, 200916 yr ^It does!!!! They are ripping off Coldplay. I completely agree with you! +10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
July 14, 200916 yr You could also ask does Daylight sound a lot like The Cutter by Echo & The Bunnymen etc. Or does the guitarist own all the same FX pedals as The Edge!? Most bands rip off people every now and then! Who cares?
July 14, 200916 yr Author omg i didnt know they asked the oracle!!! :stunned: i was just looking at it and i was a little taken back! it just has a chord change at the end instead of going down it goes up... i was like "wow..." and thanks guys... for making me know im not crazy ! @amy! ..yeah i know
July 14, 200916 yr June 17, 2009 - submitted by Annabel, Hong Kong Q. Hi Oracle, In the song When Love Takes Over by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, there is a piano part which sounds almost just like Clocks. Is that them copying Coldplay? The Oracle replies: Diego from Mexico also wanted to know whether permission had been sought for that melody line. The thing you have to remember with music is similarity does not mean copy. Granted the piano riff in the above mentioned song sounds almost identical but the point is, it isn't and therefore there was no breach of copyright.
July 14, 200916 yr Author Oh my gosh! That sounds exactly like Clocks! it really does!!! and you know what at first i thought it was a like remix type deal and then i saw the video i was like "what the :censored:" - and brooke i never knew that but its the truth, only one chord changed it from being a copyright infringement. see they should show joe satriani this... "coldplay doesnt sue people whos songs sounds like thiers!!! :veryangry2::veryangry2:
July 14, 200916 yr Author yes i know but i mean i love how the media doesnt even say anything like they did with satriani thing :\ oh well
July 15, 200916 yr We can say that some songs "sound alike" but David Guetta exactly copied Clocks riff IMO ! Anyway he sucks, I hate him :dozey:
July 15, 200916 yr Author ^ hehe  i hate how they can get away with it ...oh well i played it for like everyone in my family today and they were shocked! :stunned:
October 22, 200916 yr Coldplay Rip-off? Has anyone heard the Kelly Rowland song "When Love Takes Over"? Totally sounds like Clocks. Anyone else think so? Did she sample it or just coincidence? Check it out here. [ame= ] [/ame]
October 22, 200916 yr This question was answered by the Oracle before :) June 17, 2009 - submitted by Annabel, Hong Kong Q. October 22, 200916 yr Found the thread :) http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59750 Will merge them in a bit.
October 22, 200916 yr on wikipedia it says that they sampled coldplay to make this song. and i tried it on keyboard, when I hold my pitch bend up full and play clocks it sounds like that song.
October 22, 200916 yr That kind of makes me a little angry, but the thing is, they sound TOO MUCH alike... However, the thing with Satriani was that it wasn't the ENTIRE song that sounded alike it was just a couple notes, and not to mention, weren't two completely instruments used? In this song they played the piano notes that are exactly like Clocks, which coincidentally play through almost the entire song, just like Clocks. Not just the keyboaard/piano, thing sound the same but the 'head under water' and 'Tides I can't swim against' make it sound EVEN more similar, to me... :dozey: Oh Well, just because Coldplay doesn't sew her doesn't mean I don't dislike her music even more... :)
