I love The Little Mermaid and I'm not afraid to admit it!

Basil the Great Mouse Detective, Beauty and the Beast and Robin Hood are also pretty high up on my list...

:whip: :whip: :whip:

hey you have to remember it was made in 1959...........:P

What the fuck has that got to do with anything?

I watched a film last night that was made in 1950 and it was brilliant and entertaining throughout.

Though off topic but what movie did you watch? I like a lot of old movies. I would say Casablanca is definitely one of my favs.

My favourites are:

Beauty and the beast

Lion King

Alladin

Mulan

I could name many many more....those films are a big part of my childhood..:wacky:

A lot of you are choosing films from the period known as the "Disney Renaissance" that started in the late 80s (with The Little Mermaid I think and ending in the late 90s). That was when Disney returned to its roots and made classic cartoon fairy tales once again. They made a great job of it because films like The Lion King are just as classic as the very old ones like Snow White or Cinderella.

Well they coined the term 'disney renaissance' for a reason. Most of the stuff they've churned out this decade pales in comparison and can hardly be deemed 'classic', save for maybe 'Finding Nemo'.

The Renaissance ended in 1999 so maybe that is the reason for the severe lack of good cartoon movies. For me, most Pixar film are worth watching. They really are a bunch of geniuses there. But I don't count Pixar films as part of "Classic" Disney because they've got an identity of their own.

I saw Robin Hood the other day. De Ja Vu! We had it on video when I was like 4. I watched it all the time :nice:

Yeah, someday my prince will come and he will be rich and handsome, successful, easy to live with, puts the toilet seat down, will take me on vacations all over the world, and make me a Margarita everynight.

Three words.

The.

Lion.

King.

Best movie ever. :awesome: I also love Oliver and Company!

About the Pixar thing; I freakin' love them. I want to work there when I get older! :) I know it's not the same disney, but I still love their work. Their films are beautiful!

Toy Story! The movie of my childhood! *-* but I like Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas (I HATE YOU "AVATAR"!!) and The Lion King

I grow up during the 'Renaissance' period... I saw 'The little mermaid' at the theater when I ws about 7 or 8... I love as much old ones like 'Lady and the tramp', 'Cinderalla', 'robin hood' , "rox and rouky' etc.. as the 'renaissance' ones like THE LION KING!, Beauty and the beast...

Don't like the Pixar ones....too much visual effects...don't have the 'magic' disney touch...

I saw the 'Princess and the frog' recently. It's good to see Disney going back to their roots with 2D. The movie is drawn like 'old school': no computer effects, only drawing. It was beautiful! Loved it!

Princess and the Frog is brilliant. Old school animation, about EIGHT songs (always loved the songs to be honest), and the humour is brilliant. Return to form is an undderstatement.

When I was little I loved Robin Hood and The Great Mouse Detective.

And just yesterday, we had to throw them out. What a shame. :disappointed:

The Lion King

Tarzan

Oliver and Company

101 Dalmations

The Fox and the Hound

I love those movies. :awesome: I still have 'em on tape. :D
