September 27, 200916 yr Big meaning the hubabaloo that they got for this album...people going ape crazy whenever Viva La Vida played and everyone knowing that song... I somehow think not, and I hate to be pessimistic! Viva had so much fame, success, and acclaim. They won quite a few Grammys, no? Not that I think "fame" or "fanfare" is important(and should never be a consideration)..I am just stating an objective opinion and POV. I think it will be rather difficult to top VIVA. It was kind of too "in your face rockstar" anyway:dozey: Oh and , after hearing Wedding Bells and Christmas Lights...it doesn't sound like they would be too mainstream and "MTV", to me(:D..I personally think it's a good thing) Viva was so epic that its hard to top. I just hope their tours remain epic. I'm excited.
September 27, 200916 yr Well each album has been bigger than the previous one. So it would only make sense for it to be bigger and better.
September 27, 200916 yr ^False. AROBTTH was bigger than X&Y. Rush Of Blood - 11 million albums X&Y - 10 million albums http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coldplay_discography

They have to try to live up to themselves, I actually would prefer if they didn't. As long as they make wonderful Coldply music, Ill be happy, popularity means nothing to me. I just hope they don't get lots of put downs. Because I think this new one would be more personal... and some people judge personal the wrong way. Chris has said he just wants to get better not bigger. But even if they dont make it as big, no worries, they have left a BIG mark in music history already, they won't disappear like that, they are probably one of the best bands of the early 21st century :D
September 27, 200916 yr Coldplay will always go in a different direction, I think the next albumn will be as big if not bigger than Viva
September 27, 200916 yr ^False. AROBTTH was bigger than X&Y. Rush Of Blood - 11 million albums X&Y - 10 million albums http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coldplay_discography I think this could largely be the result of pirating music. I think it's safe to say though that Coldplay as a band became bigger with X&Y.
September 27, 200916 yr I think better is the more appropriate word... Big is more about popularity, not necesarily quality
September 27, 200916 yr They're trying to get better, not bigger. So will the next album be better?? Probably. :D
September 27, 200916 yr I'm not quite sure if their next album will get bigger, but I'm sure that it will be as great as Viva La Vida. I guess it'll just be a kind of another direction, we shouldn't expect another VlV.
September 27, 200916 yr I hope its better! Its so hard to imagine something great than Viva but then again its Coldplay.
September 27, 200916 yr I say yes. Every album gets better. Not necessarily. I remember when AROBTTH came out then X&Y it was kind of dissapointing. Don't get me wrong, I still think X&Y was good. Just not as good as AROBTTH. I will make my decision when the album comes out. Although, I think it will get better. Coldplay can't get much bigger.
September 27, 200916 yr In some interviews I've read them say that for the next album they want less "fanfare". So it probably won't be bigger but I'm sure it will be amazing! And plus, with less fanfare it will be easier for die hard Coldplayers to get tickets to the concerts :)
