Josh42
Hmmm I think Yorke has had more of an influence on the British music scene while Kobain wins America. Thom Yorke really hasn't influenced America much at all. Â I'm definitely a bigger fan of Yorke though.

Pseudonym
I love Yorke far more, but Cobain helped revolutionize the grunge movement, which created an entire new genre of music and changed many existing bands. Yorke is far greater, but Cobain had more of a direct influence.
MrMagpie
...although we haven't really seen lots of Radiohead copy-cats or a huge number of bands directly because of radiohead. Sure we've had big bands influenced (Coldplay, Muse, etc.) But I feel like Cobain and Nirvana as a whole impacted the music world more with the grunge style. Also in terms of pop icon I'd say Cobain wins as well. Even the casual top 40s listener will know who Cobain is, and his story....but the scope of people who know about Thom Yorke is much smaller. heresjohnny
Dont get me wrong i love Radiohead and respect them very much, but does anyone else have a hard time understanding what Thom is saying half the time? Because i have to read the lyrics to understand the song at all sounds like hes speaking spanish. anyways lol, i went with Cobain, for the reason someone else did. he basically created a new genre of music. Along with Pearl Jam.

deaths_friend
i think its pretty clear that Kurt has had a much bigger influence than Thom. but you have to look at the artists/bands they have influenced. the last decade has seen countless male vocalists try and emulate his voice and style and this has produced the likes of Nickelback, Finger Eleven and all those other terrible insufferable pop punk bands. but then you look at the influence Thom has had, Coldplay and Muse. a smaller influence but has produced far superior results. nobodyseditwaseasy08
then again both kurt and thom were heavily influenced by the pixies, so maybe they are more influential.
