I liked Nirvana when they came out, but now I feel they're seriously overrated. I much prefer Pearl Jam's Ten to Nirvana's Nevermind.

well PJ seems to be dominating so far. cant help but wonder how different things would of been had Kurt not died and Nirvana continued to record music.

^ Yeah, AIC gets lost in the mix sometimes, but they wrote some kickass songs. The combined vocals of Layne and Jerry are hard to beat.

i think its pretty safe to say that pearl jam is the more popular band on cping. which isnt surprising, their music is much closer to coldplay's than nirvana's.

 

would it be worthwhile having a Nevermind v Ten poll. or will all the votes go the same way. mine would actually go to Nevermind.

In my opinion Pearl jam is a very good band but Nirvana is one of the most important band ever and Nevermind is one of the best albums ever!!

When people say that Nirvana was the biggest band of the 90s, it always feels like revisionist history to me. I love Nirvana, they are a great band, and they were huge in the 90s. But I don't remember a bigger band than Pearl Jam.

 

I remember Smells Like Teen Spirit kicking the whole thing off, but Pearl Jam was the more popular of the two. I remember your hard core music fans loving Nirvana, but it was Pearl Jam vis-a-vis Ten that took over the mainstream. It was Eddie Vedder that was on the cover of Time magazine. Pearl Jam, by choice, turned their backs on the mainstream after Vitology, but I think people who lived through that era forget the overwhelming popularity of the band. Either that, or they were not even born or listening to alt-rock music in the 90s.

I don´t agree with you, maybe in your country Pearl Jam was most popular but in South America Nirvana was the most famous band in 90s, thanks to Nirvana then we met Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, ...

 

I have all Pearl Jam´s albums and also all Nirvana albums and, in my opinion, Nirvana is better.

we're comparing a band who have released 9 studio albums against a band who only brought out 3. not quite the best measure to compare the bands.

 

looks like voting has slowed down. 5 days is enough time. if this was a political election then it would of been a landslide victory to Pearl Jam.
