DEATH TO CILMI

Woman at 18? BLASPHEMY

i think she killed herself emma by trying to be a hot popstar. FAIL.

Her annoying voice and reasons described above are my justifications.

Lols why the hate guys?

if you spend a bit of time here. you'll come to realise we dont have much love for mainstream artists. the more alternative the better.

if that makes us snobbish elitists then so be it :D

Yeah, hating on mainstream is a bit irritating. Some of them are as talented and stay to their roots. But yeah, I noticed anyway.

I'm pretty sure we are all snobby elitists here. Australian mainstream is terrible. Did you read the article in the latest jmag (triple j magazine) where it mention how (i think it was richard) was questioning whether or not the music was to cheesy to play on air because of all these 80's revival bands?

I will also use this post to once again promote the Seabellies http://www.myspace.com/theseabellies) new album, By Limbo Lake, which is excellent. They are based in Newcastle/Sydney and I got Grace to listen to them and see said they were great also. So check em out.

Haha, I have to agree, the only bands that I like that get played on mainstream radio are like Angus and Julia, and the Temper Trap, so they're not really that mainstream anyway. Of course we're all pretty similarly-minded (just going by the fact that we're all on this forum to begin with) so we're going to be biased!

Also, yes, Seabelllies are awesome :D

I went out and bought the album after listening to it on their myspace.

It's not that Australian music is crap, it's just that there are no obligations for Australian radio stations to play australian bands. For example in countries, they have rules where a certain %, say 30% in france, is local content. All we get here is radio gaga and pink.... BORING. But radio stations are in the business of making money and proven successes in the USA are going to continue to fill the airwaves instead of decent aussie bands because of it. Sad, really. Plus the goverment is stingy on giving out bandwidth or new licenses for radio so we're stuck with the current shit for a while until they do anything unfortunately....

Plus, chilmi is hot. I bumped into her last time I was in Sydney at The Rocks. HOTTIE! Oh yeah I hate her.

PS. Washington looks like she's gonna clean up according to Fasterlouder

the next two years in the life of megan washington

pick up multiple arias --> go platinum --> go sexy --> sellout big time --> collaboration with jess mauboy

^^ Ahaha that would be hilarious/awesome!

I just can not get into washington, at all. There's one or two of her songs that I don't mind but I turn off the radio when any of the others are played.

Also, just got back from seeing Boy and Bear. Brilliance; enough said.

They used to have restrictions and they scrapped them didnt they? Its so stupid anyone. 90% of the whole damn country is growing not knowing how to appreciate decent Australian music and how diverse it can be but instead get stuck with the worst Amercian acts and a few electronic/pop/rock aussie bands.

I hope she doesnt make it as far as the collaboration but she is already pretty sexy.

I like her but her debut album isnt as strong as they make it out to be. It decent but nothing groundbreaking or fantasic. The ARIAs always find their way to the wrong people anyways and I dont really care a whole lot anyway because most of its media fueled.

And I still need to get the Boy and Bear Ep. Im really intersted into what they sound like because i keep hearing people go on about them so i must check it out.

Yes, do! They're great :D I think so anyway.

Peer pressure, haha! I know what you mean by that though :P

I was introduced to them live so I think that very quickly influenced the way I thought about them, and that just hasn't changed. And they were much better last night than the last time I saw them.

Great to hear that about B&B Grace, I'm catching them in a couple of weeks here!

I just noticed, isn't it lovely how we have main posters from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane? Talk about keeping ahead of the Australian music scene.

I don't care for Adelaide, but it would be nice if Perth were represented. I feel sorry for them.

Perth is our Manchester or Seattle. despite being a tiny city the number of awesome bands that have come out of that region is phenomenal.

Great observation.

That's just how awesome we are.

I suppose it's a bit harder for people from perth in the way that no-one seems to go there. Bands always tour the east coast but many tend to leave out the rest, sadly.

Also, I forgot to say about boy and bear, my friend and I were a little late getting to the venue but we arrived during the first support act (Passenger, solo act) and he was playing in the middle of the floor with a few of the members of boy and bear. I couldn't really see what was going on and I have no idea why they did that but it was awesome! Other support act, The Chemist, wasn't nearly as good with the crowd as the first but they were still quite good. And the keyboard player was ridiculously good looking, which helped :wacky:

Jayzo is from Perth but I don't think he wanders these particular forums.
