yeah jmag gave it 2 stars last year! but street press australia called it the album of the year 2010. so it really polarised critics.

^Its funny how most critics follow the lead of Pitchfork. I wonder how much influence that 10.0 had on Kanye's latest...

In other news new Jmag is out with Muse on the cover.

actually i think jmag reviewed it well before anyone else got their hands on it.

because of exams i never got around to re-subscribing. so i will have to buy the magazine from the shop and do it this time around.

am i the only one going to see the national in jan? well they just announced the middle east as their support! :D

^Fuck that is going to be one hell of a concert. I wish I was going but I couldn't. I will see them next time around. I did buy High Violet on vinyl from JB today though.

:dead:

Ugh, jealous! That will be amazing!

You'll have to report back here re its epic-ness :P

When's the show?

two shows in syd. on 7th and 8th. im going on the 7th

I wrote a massive thing why Cloud Control should win. And hey? Coldplaying's servers fuck up when I try submit it. STUFF THAT.

I'm so annoyed I CBF writing it again, seriously.

But I have a simple reasoning why Cloud Control should win:

1. They're not stoners

2. They're not perth stoners

And look, another stuffup. Wow I love technology.

Good, solid argument there.

I like the way this process is working out so far.

We still need to give you a chance to argue for Tame Impala, even if they are stoners (talented, awesome stoners, that is :P)

Ha, yeah I think it's unanimous on Cloud Control and Tame Impale for top 2

so who says Cloud Control and who says Tame Impala?

since tame impala are still in it im going to continue to back them

My top 3 are:

1. Tame Impala (Currently #8 in my 2010 list)

2. Miami Horror (#10)

3. Cloud Control (#13)

It's pretty close.

So I am a Tame Impala.

I was just saying based on people's top 3's its between those two.

so now thats 3 of us who have put tame impala as our no.1 for 2010. so it's upto you grace? will you conform or stand up for cloud control? like i said im ok with cloud control being our pick

Wait a second, I would like to hear people's opinions about Innerspeaker first before I decide on which album I will go with.

Well, if a majority picks Tame Impala then that pretty much says it right?

I just realised I didn't have Tame Impala in my top 3, though if made that list again I would definitely include it now that I've given it a few more listens.

I still prefer Cloud Control, but then that's just my personal taste; I found it easier to connect with their album than with Innerspeaker.

However, I understand that I'm the minority in this discussion and I'm more than happy to give the award to Tame Impala because I can see why you guys picked it, it really is an incredible album! And I can see that it probably does work better as an album, rather than a 'collection of songs' like you all said for CC :P

I guess there was just too much goodness to sift through!

I'll post something up here probably tomorrow if we all still want to do this, when I'll have time to give it another proper listen! I'm giving myself an internet ban for the rest of the day :P

Innerspeaker is my pick for 2 reasons

1. the musicianship is superior.

2. sounds different to everything else out there. im not saying cloud control sound the same as everyone else but they do sound quite typically indie.

my only real criticism of innerspeaker is that it doesnt handle its dynamics very well. it seems to maintain the same level of "loudness" all the way through with little variation.

And I'll go with Innerspeaker as well. So it is decided? Innerspeaker for Australian Album of the Year 2010? The J Awards are tomorrow so it's sort of got to be final.

Yeah, I'm happy with that :nice:

Agreed. Congratulations Tame Impala on Innerspeaker!

I'd pretty much be happy with them for the #1 reason that the vocals are incredibly good. Lennon-esque, and haunting.

I love it as well. One of my favourite australian indie records of all time.
