COLDPRAY: Coldplay work on new album in church

Featured Replies

I cannot wait for anything Coldplay do, I need more and more Coldplay in my life.. I'm not sure I'm that exited about it being a "smaller" sounding album, not sure that is what they'll do anyways. But I really cannot wait to hear whatever it is that they are making. They always come with some new sound and it ends catching on and the world wanting to copy it!

That's great...and I really really hope the "smaller" venue stuff is true and they will do that.

Depending how the album will be released lots of the casual "viva" fans will disapear anyways.

Let's see what it will be at the end.....

P.

Early 2010?

*SCREAMS GIRLISHLY*:cheesy::cheesy:

I am SO thrilled to hear this!!!!

this is complete dejavu of the lead up to the last album, the church, the so-called 'stripped down' approach etc.

.

Great news!

Well I think I could not wait longer until next year because I really need to hear new material of them to bring my enthusiasm about Coldplay back.

Sadly I have the following phenomen at the moment:

I just listened to Parachutes today and there was no song except of Parachutes that could inspire and enchanted me liked the whole record used to one year ago. What has happened - why couldn't I react on the songs the same way today?

I don't listen to Coldplay very much at the moment, instead I listen to lots of other artists or bands. I have the feeling I overlistened almost every Coldplay record, such as A rush of blood to the head, Viva la vida and Parachutes. There's only X&Y which still sounds "new" to me because I did not listen to it that much. I just have the feeling that some of the magic is just gone.

I really hope this won't be the beginning of the end for my love of Coldplay because they mean so much to me.

So I hope they will bring out a new album soon, which will be phenomenal - I have no doubts about that. The new album will probably bring back all the spirits.

Talking about spirits: if it's true I think it's great that they're working on the album in a church - that will give a good atmosphere to the whole record.

The thing is with The Sun is they've got this reputation as being only truthful about the date and the football results. But like earlier posts said, they've been a reliable source of Coldplay news in the past, and we've already seen that Coldplay themselves have a good relationship with them.

Remember Gordon Smart's interview last year in Salt Lake City?

Definitely. It's not as though they don't have a reputation for getting things wrong. Nothing in British journalistic history was as incorrect, as damaging and as hurtful as the utterly disgraceful Hillsborough story in which that utter cretin still won't apologise for.

I'm so excited for this! It's so strange though, I had a feeling that this album was going to be recorded in a church. When they changed studio locations and I heard Wedding Bells, I told my sister,"The next album is probably going to be at an old abandoned church." and what do you know...

 Yay! 2010 sounds great...but Eno again? :dozey: I didn't know he'd support the whole "stripped-down" thing

I'm dead excited about this! As I said earlier, best news lately by far!

My friend is going through the exact same thing at the moment. I hope both of you two both feel better when the next album comes out!

Eno is the Alex Ferguson, the Ross Brawn of the music world. He'll get the best out of them - which should be spectacular. ;)

Cool! Acoustic feel?! Yay! And Ive been concerned over them being so apart from fans, too!

i LOVE eerie churches...teehee! i always visit them on euro trips...cant wait for the new theme

but smaller venues=harder to get tix//and we ALWAYS get screwed over with presale! but i hate STADIUM concerts...i love how Chris is thinking of us!

They are truly the best band in the world!

Think its time for "Prospekt" to make a comeback, and give us clues, mini updates, things that leave us hanging on his words for weeks until the band finishes what they are doing.. with a different name if he wants...

I think my mind was just blown!!

yupp there it is over there.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

soooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Prospekt is dead, he died in the Czech Republic in a horrific hang-gliding accident. :P

Ya know, after fully reading this article again, I think only one thing can describe how I feel:

:awesome:

a stripped-down, more acoustic collection

rereading this, it doesn't seem very congruous with what we saw on South Bank Show... the experimenting that they were doing there was definitely NOT stripped down! I guess maybe they're switching their approach...

... or more likely, this story is rather inaccurate :P

Frontman CHRIS MARTIN is concerned the band are being seen as a huge stadium act and totally inaccessible for their loyal fans.

"Chris is determined not to be seen as a huge commercial rock juggernaut, filling stadiums and cashing in.

This is exactly why I am having a hard time liking Coldplay anymore. They should be doing whatever music they want to do, how they want to do it. They are obsessed with what people think of them and they never stop trying to please everybody. They need to say "We're going to record whatever the fuck we feel like" and until they do, they will never grow out of their desperate-to-please sound.

The band will then record "as live" in the church, then aim to do a tour of smaller venues for fans to hear the new stuff.

This is cool, about time they did some more intimate sets. I personally am a huge fan of small venues.

Also people need to stop reading too much into things this early. The band made dozens of contradicting announcements about VIVA while it was in the works, including saying it would be very dark with almost no piano. Yeah, songs like LIJ and SS are real dark, and 42 and VH have like no piano at all.

They will change their minds a thousand times before they even finish any songs so stop comparing articles and let them do whatever they will.

Best news in a while! Hoping for a spring release!

Also, I'll be scrambling for tickets if any kind of SMALL VENUE TOUR goes down.

A church? I'm not sure if I believe this. A couple of weeks ago The Sun said that their new studio was in a fancy purpose-built house just up the road from the Bakery. Then, R42 said this:

Will asks Phil Harvey whether he can take a look inside on his way home as he hasn't seen inside yet. Phil asks if he knows where it is.

"I know which street it's on, but not which one it is"

"It's....." Phil pauses to find the right words. "It's the skanky looking one"

If it was a church, Phil would have said: "It's...the church." Should be quite obvious then which "house" it is.

Ok, all this speculating is probably useless. I don't know why I'm doing it, lol. But it's fun in a way.

Oh, btw, today I walked past a skanky looking building in North London, close to the Bakery (not because I'm a stalker...because I live there. Believe me! :laugh3: ) and through the windows you could see the banisters of the stairs and they looked exactly like the ones on the photo that R42 posted. But I am aware that the chances that it was the new studio aren't very high. It was a HUGE house as well. :laugh3:

Noo he was our only reliable source!
