COLDPRAY: Coldplay work on new album in church

Featured Replies

First, wth have I been that I didn't see this?!:embarassed: Coldplay + acoustic + smaller (non-stadium)shows = :heart::dance::D

Fifty MORONS with nothing better to do have queued up for TWO DAYS to pay FIFTY QUID for tickets to see COLDPLAY.

That's kinda harsh & obviously the writer is just jealous they didn't get tix :P, but it made me laugh, since I know one of those "morons" :laugh3:

That's such a harsh article ! Pure shit :mean:

My mind is so totally torn about this. I hate eno, really I do...but I cant help but get excited when I start hearing about new coldplay albums, especially so soon!

Okay, so I officially just had my WTF moment of the day.

So, I decide that I want to take a little nap before getting ready for the evening. I like to have a little music playing softly in the background, the type of music will vary depending on my mood. So I flip through the Music Choice (music only) tv stations, and think hey, I haven't listened to soundscapes in awhile (because it is usually pretty cheesy). So, I turn it to the soundscapes station. I am perplexed, the guy on the screen looks familiar, I'm thinking wait, this guy looks like... omg it IS... BRIAN ENO. The song that was playing was from 1978 called "Ambient 1: Music for Airports". DUDE! WTF!?!? AIRPORT MUSIC? This guy was making music for airports when the boys were babies and/or not even born yet. Gag.

why gag? ambient 1 is brilliant. especially 1/1 and 2/2. If you haven't checked out Brian Eno before, I recommend his album "Another Green World", and his collabs with Harold Budd (Ambient 2 & The Pearl)

I'm not so much gagging at Brian Eno's Ambient 1 (and it was 1/1 by the way), it is lovely in its own right. But the massive loogie I just hacked up was the thought of him working with Coldplay too much. A little to broaden their horizons (with LP4) was fine, but too much, I don't know.

If

newdirection=airportmusic

Then

me=gag

of course they won't be making airport music, this is the same guy whose been working with U2 for the past few decades, he's a producer and all he tries to do is help them realize their potential. usually that entails kicking them out of the 'pop' box, and making it so they aren't afraid to try something brave and new. The changes in VLV were subtle, but loads better than X&Y pt. 2

I know that it won't go that far, I'm just... still... hwwwthhhhhhhhtkkkk. Dang, there's another loogie. I really need to go take that nap now.

I just hope this new album doesn't sound anymore U2-esque, the band should stay more with they own sound and style. I liked Viva la Vida a lot, but I think they could be so much better and true, just like they were back in Parachutes.

i really can't understand anyone dissing Eno for what he's done so far with coldplay. viva is definitely my favorite album (tied i guess with AROBTTH).

the band is too devoted to being popular at this moment to allow eno to do too much to their sound. honestly, we didnt see eno ruin u2 until this last album (sorry if someone liked No Line...). u2 stayed true to themselves for a long time and even fucked up along the way when they tried to go TOO far outside the box. EDIT: too outside the box by themselves.

coldplay, and this does not mean they are bland, are never going to go TOO far outside the box. it means they're realistic and they like to have people cheering at their shows for the NEW songs they write, not the old stuff recycled (ala a u2 concert).

and can i also say that while i also love and appreciate parachutes, i don't get why so many people are keen or can expect to see the band do something that similar.

really, most bands first albums are very far from what they end up being when they have a studio and some money behind themselves.

i don't think coldplay will be any different.

Well I don't expect anything exactly like Parachutes, what I meant was that a lot of people, me included, expect to hear Coldplay just like themselves and not trying to sound like any other band. I respect Eno's work, it's great! and I'm happy he's with the new album too.

For me, U2 has great songs and singles, but their lasts albums have not been that consistent. They focus more on having a great stage. Have you noticed Bono does not sing anymore? He just like read the lines. The core of U2 now is The Edge.

Now, when Coldplay says they want to do this new album more intimate and be closer to fans, saying they don't want to be "unreachable", it means they want to - if not go back to roots - , is to sound more real and less elaborated, a turn which I'm happy for. We don't want just great singles or "stadium songs", we want great albums.

I wish I had all the money in the world so I could just follow these guys on tour.

Just sayin... These guys could do covers of some polka and I would love it. Anything quicker than the usual three years is absolutely fantastic!
