Didn't the fake mother say to the nameless brother that he didn't need to worry about death? She also didn't age, so I guess she could be immortal. But that doesn't explain why the brothers aged, except if they only age until a specific point in time or something. By the way, Jacob aged a lot better than his brother. :P

I think it's a big deal the fact that Black smoke leaves the island..coz now he's "contaminated" by the light and he became worse than dead (as the mother said to Jacob) and maybe the "contamination" mustn't spread.

What i need now is to know how Black smoke reacted when he "woke up" and the all explanation for the RULE thing between them (why can't he kill the candidates, why does he have to wait til they're all dead to leave, how can Jacob leave the island...etc)!!

Jack is a candidate though. He can die allright, but Smokey can't kill him. (and he was with Richard when the tnt didn't explode, so I guess Richards immortality saved him)

 

If immortality is transferred through the drink, it doesn't make sense that Richard became immortal because he wasn't a protector of the light. Besides, when Richard asked for immortality, Jacob just granted it. Though it's possible he lied of course. Actually, I don't think being the protector has anything to do with being immortal. You don't have to be immortal to protect the light because apparently you can just give the task to someone else.

so MIB & Jacob are twins. the light & the dark. the blonde & the brunette. except that mib went into the light and came out as the dark smoke. and mib is dead, and was a skeleton. and I wonder why my head hurts after some episodes.

 

the one thing I hated about that episode is that it didn't really explain anything and it didn't advance the battle on the island.

 

and the more I watch, the more I can see the parallels with the Chronicles of Narnia. that episode was The Magicians Nephew. the finale is the Last Battle. the first few series were The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.

yeah, that was not my favorite episode... even though it was interesting, like Jenjie said, there really wasn't THAT much explained. Though, I don't think the MIB is actually the Black Smoke. I think him dying (or whatever) in the cave released the smoke/evil, and that it takes his form (just as it does with Locke).

 

@Jenjie, what you said about the Chronicles of Narnia really interests me... I haven't read the books in a really long time, but I could see how there could be some parallels.
